I'm nearly 50 and after years of gun hunting, decided to delve into the archery world. Picked up a new 33" Phase 4 last Fall and it's been an addiction since. I'm new to all this and this video really clarified some questions I had about saddles and tree climbing in general. These videos are greatly appreciated. And I will forever now call them calibeeeners.
Yo Chris I bought a 25 foot dog leash and replaced the rope inside with the the rope from the Mathew’s SCS. So when you climb up it’ll let out rope, when you pull up the bow it’ll automatically roll up the rope and same thing going back down the tree
Just started saddle hunting this year in Georgia. My first hunt yesterday afternoon was ok, I’m learning. My first stick has a 3 step aider then 2 others with single aiders got me 21 feet off the ground. Trying to learn how to take pressure off my rear end and back of my thighs. I’m being told be my “friends” that got me into this method can take 10-15 sits to figure it out. Good luck! Be safe!
I’m probably about that many sits into saddle hunting and just figured out the most comfortable way to stand and adjust my bridge. I also recommend a back rest strap as well as a knee cushion for when you need to take the load off your feet
NEVER!!! unclip from the tree without another lineman or a tether, I was a Climber for a tree service for over a decade and had multiple people in the trade try and just unclip for a couple of seconds and it permanently messed them up. Don't try to save thirty seconds on something that can change/take your life!!!
Went back to my lone wolf hand climber after 3 season experiment with saddles. Tried it all. Climber is lighter and faster and allows me to get to the height I need. No shade to those who like it. Just tried hard to make it work and no go.
thank you @Chrisbee for the information! I'm sooooo excited to try out the new BEEREAL X Vanes for my hunting arrows with my Mathews OutBack solo cam bow! Thank you for all the Great videos and tips that you give!!!
Even on my private property in state i don’t really use stand anymore. Its all saddle. I love how easy it is to just choose a new tree. My stands just stay up for buddies who i let hunt my property who don’t have saddles. Most made the switch this year so i may take down my stands next year Edit: in my opinion the best one stick is from eastern woods outdoors. Its a true one stick and personally i run the method 2 saddle from latitude. Even with a fully loaded sitka tool bucket its not a super heavy set up
Also when I need to bring my lineman’s rope around a limb I try to remember to loop my bridge over the top of my sticks and behind the top step kind of as a fail safe when it’s an option of course, not always an option
The fact that CRUZR had it right with the platform from the beginning but never gained the traction Tethrd did goes to show how important a good marketing team is in this industry.
Check how you use that Kong ascender, it didn’t look correct when you used it demonstrating. Should wrap around the silver round piece to pull tension.
I strictly saddle hunt, get a self retracting bow rope, it’s clipped to the back of my saddle. No tangle, no mess, no hassle, and it winds itself back up as you pull up your bow, not using the saddle just swap it over, you could also leave it clipped to your bag!
Thanks Chris, good demonstration. Have wanted to try saddle but thought it was too complicated until I saw this. defiantly saying "calibeener" from now on😂
To everyone watching do not use paracord for an aider. Its static strength is 550 lbs and the safe working load is only 1/5th of that. On his third stick you could see it stretching considerably. Amsteel aiders are just as small and way way safer. Too many watch these videos to be putting out dangerous info like this and taking your lineman’s belt off
My 16 yr old son bought this setup for his first season ever hunting. I have concerns about safety. Is this something you would recommend for a first time hunter?
If you are interested in learning how to saddle hunt, there are a few great channels to choose from. Staggs in the wild is one. Tethrd makes ok gear, just be advised everything they make is made outside of the USA. COUGH...China.
This is a lie. Not everything they make is made in China. Some of their stuff is but not all. 3 of 4 saddles are made in the USA. the 4th is a hybrid build, Some components are made in US and some overseas, and their new carbon platform is made in the USA.
Chris, good video. Just a heads up you tied in the one sticks the wrong way haha happens to everyone. Just looking out for safety. Love the saddle content!
Love you chris just don’t put things up your nose before a video people with a past know those things😂 still love all your content just don’t do that before a video 😂
@chrisbeereal , Chris, you were an absolute mess on this one Brother. Slow down, get you facts before presenting items. Also check out Samko Trad Bow and use "yack grips" on your buckles.......so silent. Also figure 8 your bow rope on your thumb and pinky. I love saddle hunting. But if i was new. I wouldn't go by your advice. Kinda scary. Just friendly advice. Love your content Chris keep it coming.
@xcmandan, his and Kaitlyn Maus' videos are both extremely chaotic. Makes me want to make one less chaotic so ppl don't get the wrong idea about saddle hunting! 😂
Everyone bashing on that hunt I find hilarious.. on the broadside shot the head was poking out the other side of the body! What more do you want????? Did he shoot multi shot at it trying to put it down, YES which I hope ANY bow hunter would do.. heavy arrow isn't the problem it's you tools being keyboard warriors slamming on other hunters. Little self reflection is needed here bc you're all so righteous correct?!
It makes me happy to not see a fancy bow reel to get your bow in the tree😂😂 I also use a piece of paracord tied to my booksack to get my bow up and down😂😂😂😂😂
I just spent $138 on 12 arrows and 28 on a cutting fletching kit 13 for glue. These UV arrows are $220 for 6!? I look at saddles and they cost two times the amount a dang nice stand costs or climber for that matter. Us broke jokes ain’t meant for nothing nice.
Waaaaaay too much going on for me. Quick and quiet climber and I’m up in 3 minutes. Not as flexible for sure wrt trees I can climb but I’d end up dangling at some point trying this 😅

Doyle’s deer gear (K-Musculo Hunting Hoist) it’s a retractable bow hoist and works great with a saddle system, worth the $.
calibeener clip is wild😂😂
I 100% thought it was a new specialty product... He said it so confidently...
Parachute cord as well 😂😂
I thought there was a new type of “carabiner” and I was missing out.
Keep crushing it, Chris. Thanks for the videos. Don’t worry about all the people who have never met you, but love to toss hate around.
38 minute Tethrd commercial
Liked the video good to see someone do it from the ground up instead of just sitting 3 feet off the ground explaining stuff 🤙🏻

Was absolutely speechless when I saw that! And in a sponsored video too. Tethered should be ashamed!
You see the video his girlfriend made. These people should not be teaching anyone.
What's the right way then?
@@Crodgers88clip with your tether before unclipping your lineman's rope to get over the branch.
never considered saddle hunting until this video. Thanks for the informative how to

I don’t know what climber you have that’s under 5 pounds
I use a hand climber seat as a platform with a saddle, I can be up and ready in 5 minutes. Getting down is super fast as well.
Crazy to think ol son has the new Mathew’s right now and none of us even know what it’s called
😂😂😂 so true
Really appreciate the detail in the how to. Hope you feel better…sniffles are hard especially as we step into hunting season!
"Custom Gear", makes the perfect aider for the "Tethrd", one stick. I'm close to 300lbs and this combination hasn't failed once.
Chris, awesome detail and breakdown. Could you possibly list out what you were using, ie, sticks, saddle, etc. thx!
Put the tag end of your lineman rope through your carabiner and you can tighten the rope with one hand. Works with the tether too.
Might try saddle hunting in the future. Thanks for the tips. Videos like this make it a lot easier to try something new!
I run 3 beast sticks with 3 LWCG cable aiders and get plenty high. I will use 4 sometimes. Love it.
I've been looking for an easy DIY aider like that! Just made 2 of them for my Skeletor sticks. Thanks!!
thank you @Chrisbee for the information! I'm sooooo excited to try out the new BEEREAL X Vanes for my hunting arrows with my Mathews OutBack solo cam bow! Thank you for all the Great videos and tips that you give!!!
i recommend you give a petzl grillion a shot. makes saddle hunting smooth and easy to adjust when you’re climbing a tree with your sticks.
Tethrd is always quality equipment. Love the content

Great stuff for hunters. Thanks for creating and sharing.
Hope you have a great season this year sir May The Lord Bless you guys with some studs. Good showing on your new saddle gear.

Got my first saddle setup this year, definitely have to make a few modifications to make it be just right
The fact that CRUZR had it right with the platform from the beginning but never gained the traction Tethrd did goes to show how important a good marketing team is in this industry.
Mathew’s needs to bring back stone color.
I want accessories to match my V3!
Great video man! Lots of good info from you! Keep up the great work

Bear hunting and Chris bee video comes out! Let’s go!!!!
I like that saddle. Suspenders would be nice when your pouches are loaded down
Every time I watch a video on saddle hunting...I get a headache. LOL

Bro! This was basically a video of what not to do when saddle hunting. It’s clear that you rarely use the saddle.
Chris is so chaotic😂
That's what makes him authentic and awesome to watch!
This helps a ton thanks Chris
Finally a video been to long
He deleted the atrocious buffalo hunt
Sounds like Chris just leaked the new UV "Cali-Beener" launching November 20never 😂
Considering getting a saddle. How do you take on and off clothing layers up in the tree?
Where’s your leg straps if there was a malfunction to not let you fall thru the saddle??? Did I miss something
That's what I was seeing too.
Should I use g5 deadmeats or the megameats. I shoot a 55 pound bow
deadmeats
Neither one.....

Hey I’m thinking about buying a new camera for my hunting channel ,would you still recommend the Sony a73 or should I go with the a74 ?
Chris Bee with hockey tape? A stick and puckster? A dangler?
Chris whats your take on the bowmar nose button? Sick saddle set up. Working my way to getting a saddle!
do you not use your leg loops? Pretty sure that saddle is useless or much less effective in a fall without them
I love that bow man I’m your bid fan man
Watching this from the saddle
Why aren’t you using the straps that come up between your legs on your saddle?
Great advice! Unfortunately there's no trees in my state of NV.
Can we have a link to your mount that holds your phone in the tree?
I do everything Chris does in this video......except successfully hunt the things he does.
Bro you need a Benadryl?
Is it just me or do u stay up all night watching Chris’s videos
Just you bro
Wish you had better shipping options for international shipping. Going to be $45 to have it come to canada
What phone mount is that? I can’t seem to find it any place online.
Wrap your gear rope in a figure 8 for storage, it won't get tangled.
Aye man love to see it
Can you share your phone/camera holder
do you know how to fix the saddle squeezing your sides?
This will help me alot
If i were to win can you build it for a left handed shooter?
What is new Mathew’s bow name
It's called the Lift

How do you do this in the dark?
Why’d you delete the buffalo hunt chris? Didn’t want to make a video showing you constantly take garbage shots?
Nice to know someone's perfect.
yeah because your any better 😂
These constant comments on all his videos are so toxic…
Do u have a discount code for tethrd.
What brand camera arm for the phone is the one u took out the pack ?
Hey Chris. Can I please please have an old UV slider of yours😂 I really do want one so bad but I can’t afford one. Just got the lift…
