I have those versa straps on my Hawk sticks. I don’t feel comfortable just wrapping around the tree and putting a loop on the versa button. I use what I think is called a Chinese finger knot, like many videos showing climbing stick rope mods demonstrate. Basically wrap the strap around tree, under the versa button, back over the strap a few times to secure everything better. Works really good.
