Guys Chubby is just Awesome, Thank You so much, I loved your review of 50 shades brown I did think that you were both going to burst laughing. You may not know this but every show that he does, he has a big sigh outside, That says, This show is not for the easily offended, so if you are, then Don't come in. By profession he was a drummer, in a band, and he also can play piano as well, but he turned to comedy instead. I have seen him many times in Blackpool, Vulgar Yes, Rude yes, offensive yes, But my goodness he is so funny, and he is a wonderful Husband, and father, to his kids, he was brought up in the tough north east, of England, Thank You
There's a story that early in his career he appeared at Hartlepool Catholic Club the day after someone had broken in and stolen their television set. He walked on stage, pointed to a picture of Christ on the cross, said "I see they've nailed the c**t who pinched your telly," and had to be thrown out for his own safety.
Hughie Green who Chubby mentions was the host of a British talent show called "Opportunity Knocks" in the 60's and 70's. Chubby did appear on the show under his real name Royston Vasey, but using clean material.
Back in the 80's I was lucky enough to see Chubby Brown at a live performance in Nottingham, the UK. My wife was pregnant at the time and she wasn't allowed to go (something I'm reminded of every time I mention the guys name and that was forty fecking years ago!). Anyway, I have never laughed so much before or since. My face literally ached and Chubby Brown never stops for breath. Some of his stuff was - and still is - very unPC but that was then and this is now. I'm still laughing even if I know I should know better. He is a great guy in RL and supports many charities so I'll forgive him whatever. He is still a legend.
I'm just a bit too young to have seen him live. I was born in 80, so I'd have struggled to get into a gig until about the time he was finished touring. Very jealous though, I'd have liked to see him live.
A really good Friday night at my local (in Wales) in the late 80s/early 90s - after drinking hours: get rid of the non-regulars nobody could vouch for (could be a Plod grass!), lock the doors, draw the curtains, keep the beer flowing, and whack on a Chubs video. On the little 24" telly in the top corner! I was a not-entirely-unpleasant-to-behold fit and active early 20-something in those days, but to me having a proper belly laugh with the old boys was much more fun than going to the cattle-market nightclubs in the area to pull some flaccid-flapped boiler you'd have to walk to the phone box in the morning (remember the time period - no mobiles) to get a taxi home. Watching Chubby Brown (at least in those days, when he was relatively new to everyone) with other blokes was far preferable to an awful, embarrassing shag with an old boot you only copped off with because she'd been divorced for a whole month and was free-diving on anyone with a pulse and no reasonable excuse not to. I've given away too much here, haven't I? 😂

Hughie Green was the host of a talent show back in the day called Opportunity Knocks...if you won you went on to stardom. Sort of like X-Factor, Britain or America's Got Talent. Saw Chubby in Oxford in the mid 90s , soooo funny !!
I remember Chubby being an acquired taste back in the late 80s and early 90s. I can't imagine how he'd ever have made a career for himself in the modern world. It's pretty sad really, to witness the scrutiny and legislation that's nowadays thrust upon humour and comedy. I know his humour is quite close to the bone, but I firmly believe there should be no limits with comedy, and I especially can't abide the fact the modern day world tries to judge the past based on today's ridiculous mindset. The world has gone mad. It's an exciting time to be alive, for sure, but stop cancelling everything and being offended by everything. We're turning into a race of overly sensitive morons. Anyway, rant over. Nice to see you reacting to Chubby again. Love your work guys, keep up the great work ♥
Chubby lived near me years ago I met him a few times. He was a lovely fella, asked for his autograph and of course it was rude. I asked if he'd do one for my son, he did but put a nice message on it nothing like the one I got lol.
forst time i saw Chubby it was 50p admission fee at the club i collected glasses in, i was only a kid, that didn't stop him ripping the piss out of me any time i went anywhere near the stage, that would have been in the late 70s, the place was heaving.
