So happy to see you're watching this. I used to watch it with my Dad and we'd both be in tears with laughter. Another brilliant Scottish comedy is 2 Doors Down. More modern but still very funny.
One of my favourite shows of the 90s! 👍 I've hardly been out of Sheffield much of my life & understood most of the lingo. Respect goes to Alan Yentob (Controller of BBC2 at the time) he put this show out in primetime & resisted calls from his superiors to put the show out with subtitles. An episode when Rab goes to London, takes the p1ss out of this, subtitling a upper class character's dialogue into Glaswegian and Rab's into upper class English! 🤭🤣🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant that you've started this. I remember when this came out. I have watched this almost as many times as Still Game. Respectability is indeed a word. Cheers Eddy, have a good one!
Yas Eddy!! Rab C started around 1990 and all of the talk is Glesga slang! With a touch of alky ned in there 😂😂😂 benefit thief, scrounger, bints, slags, gubins and wife beating all rolled into a brilliant sketch show 😂😂😂 however, his son Wee Burnie, had a terrible upbringing which resulted in him doing things I cannot post on here. Great reaction Eddy ❤
You'll find that a lot of the actors & actresses that appeared in Still Game, first appeared in Rab C Nesbitt episodes. Even Victor, Jack, Boabby, Winston, Isa, Pete the Jacket, Tam, Navid, Shug & a lot of the side - Molly played by Dorothy Paul characters all had parts in Rab C Nesbitt.
The boating pond is in Rouken Glen park 5 minutes from me and the park ranger is Dorothy Paul who was Molly Drummond in Still Game. If you get the chance Eddy, watch another series called Two Doors Down. Elaine C Smith (mary doll) is fantastic in in it. Her character is a right royal pain in the arse. Hilarious.
Its strange watching it again after all these years and yeah things were like that for alot of families. Alot has changed for the better but there are still people everywhere like them.
Thing about Rab C is the first season is the best, it's top notch, opposite of Still Game which starts slow (really poor first episode) but gets great the longer it goes .
The woman playing Rabs boss is Dorothy Paul who played Frances s sister molly from finport in series 5 episode six of still game ! she did some comedy shows in the early 90s where she would talk about her life growing up etc ..they were funny she was also in a Scottish soap in the 70s.
It’s from 1990. Rab C was originally a recurring character in a sketch show in the late 80s. He got his own show in 1990. Basically the show follows Rab and his pals who are all unemployed wasters in a deprived part of Glasgow as they comically go about their daily business . Also there are plenty of folk in scotland like this ….thousands of them . The UK as whole is full of them
If your getting 85% of the words your getting more than the subtitles. Shout them out if you can't get it. Its a west coast accent, makes anything to do with Alexa turns into a fight. There is so many of Still games characters in Rab C
My old school mate has never worked he is 53 so 35 years on the Dole as we call it in Essex. Yet he has his flat and iPad iPhone etc , he has no shame lazy git knows the system inside out it should not be allowed ffs. Subbed by the way look forward to watching your videos etc👍
Try dear green place has ford and paul in it to ,rab c nesbit is a tv staple its just brilliant,it can be a bit difficult to understand rab but u get use to it .
Other fantastic Scottish comedy: Scotch and wry. Naked video. Chewing the fat. Absolutely. Kick up the eighties.😅 Try them out pretty sure you wont find a dud.😅
There is a Scots language related to English spoken in Scotland. But this is not it. By Scottish standards this would still be regarded as speaking English with a few Scots language words.
Yes, this is normal, but the government is very selective about who they clamp down on. Namely, people born here are targeted, while immigrants are not. Immigrants who came here five or more years ago are still living on benefits without jobs. We have thousands of homeless people, mostly veterans, and it's quite disgusting. When people rise against the government, they brush it under the carpet. It will be their downfall, and every British-born patriot will put right what has been wronged.

My dad used to love this show when we were kids, we would all sit down and watch it!
Set in Govan, a suburb of Glasgow. Makes the bronx look like Beverly hills 👍
One of my favourite shows of the 90s! 👍

Lads I worked with only understood me morning after this....4 Yorkshire men re acting these scenes..

"I will tell you this boy, I will tell you this!"
Aw ya wee beauty, Rab c, your in for a treat eddy 🙌 and your face trying to understand 😂😂😂, you'll be fluent Scots soon enough ma lad 😁🏴
more rab c please!this is much better than still game this was first before still game.i love both series though.
Surprised you have not watched this before. Rab C. Nesbit, from 1990, was a spin off from a Scottish sketch show in the 1980's, Naked Video.
Stick with Rab mate. Its hilarious

21:50 “respectability” is a noun meaning “the quality of being socially acceptable”
Wee Burny next level trolling
Its strange watching it again after all these years and yeah things were like that for alot of families. Alot has changed for the better but there are still people everywhere like them.
This is much broader Scot lingo, might take a bit of time to get use to it.
This is brilliant next to still game nice little replacement good reaction

Oh wow. I would have never noticed lol

PRESTO was a supermarket back in the 80s taken over by Gateway anyone remember this in glasgow
Rab stays in Govan, Glasgow♥️
auto subtitles won't help, it was trained on american
As you get further through the series' (if you continue), you'll notice lots of characters/actors who are in Still Game.
If your getting 85% of the words your getting more than the subtitles. Shout them out if you can't get it. Its a west coast accent, makes anything to do with Alexa turns into a fight. There is so many of Still games characters in Rab C
Not Alexa...It's LINDA!...
Love Rab c and love ur channel Eddy 👍
Can you understand the thick Glaswegian accent ?
Good luck with that

Subbed by the way look forward to watching your videos etc👍
A little known Scottish comedy you might like is Legit.
Only 6 episodes and they are on UA-cam. It’s about a market trader in Glasgow.
Rab c nesbitt started in early 1990 pilot episode in 88
Rab c is from Glasgow eddy ❤️
That theme tune connects directly to my feet😂
Ditch the subtitles they cant get it right and you'll miss some good lines
Try dear green place has ford and paul in it to ,rab c nesbit is a tv staple its just brilliant,it can be a bit difficult to understand rab but u get use to it .
Try Quaility Polis..Toshan..SCOT SQUAD!..Quality Polis!.
" Gallus " = overly flashy and mildly rude. I still like this one.
" ay " = always, " weans " = little ones ( wee anes )
UC basic job seeking is 350+rent. Definitely not 400 a week in Scotland.
Please react to Rab C Nesbit episode "Drink". One of if not the best.
It’s based in Govan Glasgow you will see most of still game cast at some point and others you may know
I think the most obvious evolution next is chewing the fat 🥳🥳
Unemployed rate is between £80-£100 per wk not 200-400 😂
Thanks lol
Unemployment benefit was probably less than that back then but then the cost of living was not quite so high either
Respectability is a word - in English.
Respectability is a word come on eddy lol
You will need sub titles for this show.
Don't be getting judgemental Eddy enjoy the series.
Glasgow ..
Let me tell you this boy
Really? You think those on benefits get 3-400 a week? LTry every two weeks to a month.
We don't understand Glaswegians either.
Other fantastic Scottish comedy:
Scotch and wry.
Naked video.
Chewing the fat.
Absolutely.
Kick up the eighties.😅

How about Gimme Gimme Gimme?
FFS it’s a comedy show .. you analyse to much
Make the black community look upper class
