  • In his talk Harsh Songra talks about his struggle with dyspraxia, a developmental coordination disorder, which he was diagnosed at the age of nine.
His parents were unable to identify problems in their son's development for several years, due to lack of awareness and limited access to information about such diseases.
Aiming to provide a tech fix to this lack of awareness, and hoping to help provide timely information that can be used to control the disorder, he launched the My Child app that parents with children aged 11 to 24 months can use to track developmental disorders.
Harsh Songra, is a nineteen year old developer of the 'My Child app'. An app that screens developmental disorders in 45 seconds. Due to lack of awareness & limited access to information about such disorders. It took his parents nine years to identify that he suffers from dyspraxia, a developmental coordination disorder (DCD).Sheryl Sandberg (COO, Facebook) wrote in her post about Harsh, “Harsh wanted to make sure other families didn’t have to go through the same thing, so he built an app called MyChild that helps parents find out if their child might have a developmental disorder. It provides basic screening by asking simple questions - and can even recommend specialist doctors.”
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

I do have a question. How would this app help to reduce the chances of a developmental disorder from occurring?

by information dissemination, a.k.a. education. Health education is often the 1st step to lowering disparities specially on less developed countries..
