I am beyond proud of you. As a therapist, I genuinely think I’ve learned more about parenting and how to help my clients with parenting than I ever learned in grad school. Thank you so much for being who you are and allowing us to see you.
Thank you for sharing your story. "Connect before correct. Listen more than talk. Be curious than judgemental." All children deserve this! Beautifully said!
Respecting children as whole, complex, and layered beings is such a gift to them and to us. Thank you for sharing your wisdom in such a beautiful and meaningful way, Destini. My daughter is now 25 and I am still learning every day how to be a gentle present parent.
I honestly think this is how we change the world. I don't have kids but I was one. I know I would have had such a hard time if I had had kids without having learned these things from my parents, who had not learned these things from their parents. Thank you, Destini!!
This was soo incredibly important for me to hear right now… I BLEW UP on my 5 year old daughter today… it’s been a difficult couple months. I need to be more present with myself, so I can be more present with her…
Sister! I was not expecting it but you made my inner child cry when you uttered the words “children’s feelings & emotions are valid”. Thank you, dear Destiny!!! Sending you much love from London, S☀️ 💋
So beautiful written and said. This is just the heart of humanity, the world would be a better place if the world prioritized humans’ wholeness from the womb. It seems so simple. Respect is at the core of it, and it’s respect for the self and the other.
This woman is a tremendous speaker and her message is spot on! Labels are inherently stigmatizing. They've got to stop. Let's lead with empathy, not labels!
I was in tears watching this... One I didn't know Destini had did a Ted talk, because I absolutely love her and her Gentle parenting tips and healthy habits. Two this made me feel so bad because my son was throwing a tantrum right before falling asleep. I didn't know how to handle it, so... I watched him throw a tantrum, walked away and grabbed him a bottle and I feed him hoping it would stop the crying. once he finished he continued to cry and I just laid in bed letting him cry till his dad came in the room and soothed him to sleep... I say all this because I felt like she was speaking directly to me in this moment. Thank you Destini!
My niece’s bad behavior started showing up in school. I was surprised when her teacher called me at work because I had no idea the school or my niece had my number. After I talked to the teacher I called my Sister and told her what the teacher said. I know how my sister so it was no surprise to me when she replied that my niece “does good in school and has good grades”. She said “I don’t know what that teacher talking about”😄like her and the teacher had beef. When it was time for her to graduate (a few years later) she wasn’t allowed to because of her grades. I think that was the wake-up call for my sister. My niece now lives with my mother (her grandmother) and has two kids under the age of one with no job. and nobody can tell her anything! My sister and niece now hate each other. Discipline isn’t a bad thing all people young and old need it.
Destini this was absolutely amazing! As a mom of 4 I’ve had my “bad mom” moments and I’ve learned so much from watching you and practicing “gentle parenting” with them now. Hopefully it’s not too late for me to turn this around for my kids and myself. Thank you for your guidance!
Omg I appreciate you so much for this! You are truly amazing and I learn and gain so much from you!!!! I pray you continue because I promise you, you are my guide!!!! Wishing you peace, love, and prosperity. Forever grateful for you and your teachings🌹🙏🏾🖤
Awesome job, Destini. Thank you for bringing us along on your journey and showing us daily that it's not about being perfect but embracing your imperfection and offering our children the same grace we would want to be offered to us as we navigate life.
This was soooo beautiful and a great reminder of how to be with our kids, ourselves and each other! Great presentation Destini! Always love the way you get to the root…the heart 💛
At the risk of ignoring your entire message 😉😉 - Destini, you are genuine and authentic and your story is so real and relatable. You're a damn good mom and such a great teacher, too!! (and you can take those labels any way you want!) And some real appreciation: your talk massively fulfills my needs of feeling a strong sense of purpose and being part of a community creating positive change for parents everywhere. ❤❤❤

"You are not a label". Thank you.
Thank YOU!
Cousin I needed to hear this today. Labels are powerful that carry on into your adulthood. Thank you. I will be mindful of the words I say.
This was so good Destini!
Wow. I can relate to this on so many levels. Thank you for your transparent and vulnerability. It takes so much courage.

👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
I feel like when you parent like this, there is less that your children have to heal from/relearn/reparent themselves in the future.
