During my last trip I found that putting the "liquids bag" and anything electronic inside my backpack made things extremely easy and fast during the airport security checks, because I didn't open my suitcase at all! Once I got to the gate I then switched places putting all the unnecessary (for the flight) things in the suitcase and keeping just the essentials in the backpack!
That’s awesome. However there are (at least 1 airline that I know of) that only allow one bag into the cabin. Internationally. So maybe you can put the electronic and the liquid bag in the same compartment in one bag. 👍
@@ftwi1 Quite a few do this I've found, especially since Covid for whatever reason. SAS, for example, restricts you to one item in the cabin on their economy(SAS Go) tickets. Some US airlines do this too.
For us, the packing cubes has been the best. A real blessing..... easy to keep our clothes, electronics and other stuff well organized on the suitcases.
2:38 If you want to put your shoes in bags without buying more things, I like to use plastic grocery bags. I normally put 2 around them so when one gets dirty I can remove it, throw it away, and use the 2nd one!
Don't mind the minimalism police, I think you did a great job. I wish I watched your video before my last trip, I totally messed up estimating the weather and ended up wearing the same two outfits almost the entire trip. Personally, I love my packing cubes though.
Your packing was very aesthetically-pleasing. :) I normally roll my clothes, but I'm going to try your cubed method. I also keep my toiletries in my backpack so it's much easier to take out for security (rather than having to open my suitcase). I love traveling with checking a bag. It saves time and money. I hope you enjoyed your trip!
Thanks so much! I'm going to Colorado in 3 months ALONE and I'm only 13. This will be my first time ever flying and I'm kinda scared of planes. So this really helped!
this is awesome! my mom does this too, she’ll plan out her outfits with different clothing combinations and only carries one carry on with her as well :) i love how clearly everything is laid out in your suitcase. oftentimes i’ll pack but then i can’t find anything so i’ll have to rummage through and then everything is a mess!
I honestly love your packing videos, Ashlynne! It seems like minimalism has helped you to become more thoughtful and organized when packing for trips, and that's something I find to be satisfying as a fellow minimalist :D
You make it seem so easy!! I usually need a little more space when I pack...I guess I have the wrong suitcase!! Thank you for all the tips and I hope you had a marvelous time here in Greece🇬🇷I hope I can visit some day Italy🇮🇹The videos of Florence especially were amazing!!I wish you all the trips you have imagined♥️🌷🌼🥰🌍🌎🌏
Hi Ashlynne, I love your minimalist lifestyle videos especially the travel/ packing light ones. Can you please make a video on the brick folding method you developed? Basically a clothes folding tutorial.
I love how you organize your things. I am also a minimalist traveler and what helped a lot is Nomad Lane's Bento Bag. This is making my travel easier and comfortable.
Hi lovely Ashlynne, I wanted to say you, first have a good trip :) enjoy :) and I wanted to say you a huge thank you for all the many times I watched your videos without writing a comment as I was not yet on youtube :) you have been part for a lot on my decluttering journey and inspirations. Travel videos are some of my favorites! Thanks for these great tips. I prefer packing cubes; however, my husband prefers not using them. Tank tops and leggings are my favorite layering items, which also serve as lounging and pajamas. 😁
So cool to see a 1 month worth of everything you take! I'm getting married in 3 months in India and I'll be staying there 1 month, so seeing this gives me relief I won't miss much 😂 but I don't uleven use that many hair products for example, so maybe I'll have it even easier 🥺🥺
Very nicely done, also easy to see how one could change it up based on their needs and style. I could do this easily, idk if my mom could 😂 I’ve seen her pack twice as much or more for half as long.
Wow thanks a lot I was so worried how I'm gonna fit my stuff into one suitcase, but after watching this video o tried your technique and to my surprise I was able to fit everything. 😊😊☺️
I think people tend to forget that they can wash things (by hand, use laundry service, go to a laundromat) as they go on their trip. I know common sense, but when people are out of their comfort zone it tends to go out the window. I was in Mexico for almost three weeks and brought only a week's worth of clothes, I paid for laundry service as I needed.
Now in this day and age of reduced overhead storage and airlines losing luggage, I don't do hard case rollers or check in bags. Especially at peak travel times it's risky. Backpack all the way for me now. Pretty color suitcase, though. I just don't want the hassle of it anymore. Seen too much problems with others carrying then and being asked to check it because they ran out of room on plane. I've never had a problem traveling with a backpack.
I'm not a packing cube fan either I think they take up space and don't hold as much especially for colder weather. I think rolling or tightly folding clothes definitely utilizes every inch of space so nothing is wasted good tips.
Great video...thank you. Can I ask what the weight of your bag was, please? As I understand the weight of a carry on is as important as the size with many airlines. In Australia and Europe the maximum is often 7kg. My apologies if you have answered in the comments previously.
This video is so helpful! What are the measurements of the suitcase? I've been looking at cabin suitcases and want to make sure I get the right size. Thanks.
Amazing you can do this! I’m heading to Spain for a month and will be staying with family. I can’t do a carry on because I also take gifts for the family and I shop so I’ll have checked baggage and a backpack, but kudos to you if this works for you.
I’m currently working out how I’m going to efficiently pack for a two week trip with a carry-on, so this is a helpful video! I had one question though. Why did you choose to put your liquids bag and electronics in your suitcase and not your backpack? That seems stressful to have to open your suitcase to pull them out for security when they could be more accessible in your backpack. Thank you for listening to my curiosity! :)
2 thoughts: How to make that works for bigger people (aka bigger clothes) And add Ziploc bags to encase everything to protect from bed bugs. I got them recently and it took so much out of me for a month while dealing those elusive, pesky vampires.
having been and gone can you tell me what you did not use much or what you regret packing or not having packed?would be useful to me this week going to Italy! thanks!
hi will also be having my italy trip. thanx for this video. just curious if your luggage was allowed as hand carry in the plane or did you have to check it in?
Watching this as I prepare for my month long, first ever trip abroad 😅 If anyone finds this comment and has some advice, please feel free to reply, it'll be much appreciated ❤ As always, thank you for this super helpful video Ashlynne 🫶
You packed your carry-on like a pro. I'm going to Ireland in April and I don't want to over pack, but I also want to have enough with me for the 10 days I'm there. Any tips are appreciated.
Wow so good. Sounds very easy for you. I will travel to Europe for a month next week but how i can pack only with one carry on luggage? Seems impossible for me. 🤨
This was a great video! It is so interesting to see how little you packed for a month. I plan to try this method out for my next trip and I’m looking forward to your next video!
May I ask how much your suitcase weighed? I love the idea of only using a carry-on bag, but some airlines have a 7kg max weight limit and, for longer trips, I struggle to get the weight below that…😢
So many great packing tips. Packing things into small bags is on my next travel list as well as using cloth produce bags and your folding method. Thanks.
It's slightly inconvenient but for maximum efficiency space-wise (because I like to wear big punk boots) you can stuff your socks and underwear in them. It saves so much space. I like the fold you do for your clothes, I do it the same way ^-^
This really help. Hi! I would like to ask does everything you shown in the video cater the 7 kls limit on carry on? There are some when we used to pack light but still the weight doesn't go on expected 😅
This is awesome! You make packing seem so effortless and not a major event 😭 I just landed in Hawaii for ten days and was hoping I’d get to see this before I left, but alas 🤷♀️ I’ll get to use this as a reference on my next trip! 😃 Your previous video about what necessary things you bring when traveling was suuuuper helpful in preparation for my trip tho, so thank you for that!!
My tip for the toiletries: if you want to, don’t bring any and buy shampoo, toothpaste, etc etc when you arrive (almost all places has supermarkets/pharmacies, plus you can experience foreign brands). Before you pack again to return, just toss them or give it to someone. Less space in the suitcase, we all know necessaires takes a lot of space and they can be really heavy.
I would probably also put my liquids that I was bringing in the backpack for going through security just so you only have to open one bag, and then put them in the bigger carry-on for the actual flight. It's so interesting how we all have our own different ways of doing things! I also fold my clothes like that and pack that way because it makes it super easy to see everything all at once! 😊
Awesome video Ashlynne 😊 very informative, you always give great advice and tips in your videos. I always look forward to seeing your videos every week. I hope you had an amazing time in Greece and that you made lots of great memories ❤️👍❤️
