I was a lot skinnier when I drank 2-3 cups a day black or with just cream. I quit it because everyone convinced me it was bad and I drank too much coffee. But I wasn’t constantly snacking on carbs and crap to stay energetic and awake. So I kinda came to my own conclusion that I’d rather take the risks of coffee and have a flat tummy than be eating so much and feeling bloated.
That’s a great point , but moderate black coffee ☕️ 👍. The issue is people are consuming all this fancy coffee drinks mixed with others things nowadays and then they order the biggest cup out there and don’t realize all the sugar in it. And by doing that, the coffee essence and richest is gone. I remember back on the days when we produced coffee, adults would drink a very small cup of black coffee ☕️ in the morning and sometimes another one in the afternoon if we had guests and even the teenagers will get black coffee in the morning, of course with some sugars, but very light brewed coffee and adults will have the strong brewed like espresso. 😎there is nothing better than a small cup of black coffee ☕️😋!!!
I took your advice and stopped drinking instant coffee. Went to the local market and bought a whole kg of organic, locally grown beans. Makes an amazing cold brew morning coffee.

What a coincidence you making this video. I started drinking coffee recently. I'm not a huge coffee person, but I replaced my Preworkout powders with a cup of coffee. So much cheaper and I've been getting amazing workouts. I just put a dash of milk and some stevia in mine.

@@thandimtungwa1298 Cream would be a better choice than milk (and taste better), as cream will not affect your insulin or blood sugar, contrary to milk. Monkfruit or stevia sweetener (that doesn't contain maltodextrin or dextrose) is a great sugar substitute. The better ones are combined with erythritol that - while showing carbs in the nutritional info, does not actually count- since your body doesn't have the enzymes to break it down, so it comes out of the body in the same form as it came in :)

Several scans revealed I'm sensitive to caffeine so my ND told me to avoid coffee and tea. 😕 Hopefully it's temporary. 🙏 My grandmother was a coffee drinker and lived to be 103.💖
Not sure how a scan can reveal "caffeine sensitivity." Sounds a little eccentric to me. And even if you are sensitive does that mean it will kill you? No. I'd say just drink the amount of coffee/tea that your body is comfortable with and move on with your life.
I just posted a comment, I miss my coffee, because I was getting heartburn and also hoping Dr. Berg can give some insight...I MISS coffee, but taking stress protocols and glutathione for now, love you Dr B!
@@Vmedicinal I agree (re the scan). But it is true that a certain segment of the population do have a genetic predisposition to caffeine sensitivity. (this from... Dr. Andrew Huberman PhD - Stanford Neuroscientist Professor & Researcher - in one of his weekly podcasts on biology, neuroscience, brain & our nervous system). He won't state any findings as a 'fact' unless it's study-supported data that's been peer reviewed, repeatable, & published in a respectable science journal. A scan(?) Is not going to reveal genes, I don't think. (could be wrong, here, but I don't think so.) So, yah, I'm somewhat skeptical that this caffeine sensitivity was revealed in a scan. Would love to learn more about that, though, if indeed it was discovered via scan.
I took a break from coffee about 9 days ago. I went through terrible withdrawal symptoms for 3-4 days. The first thing I noticed after day 4 was I woke up before my alarm each day. I wasn’t groggy anymore because I was sleeping better. The second thing I realized was I had sustained energy throughout the day, no more energy crashes. As as of now, I don’t have any intentions of going back to coffee. Deep down I don’t think the benefits are worth the costs.
I really feel no side effects of drinking coffee. It makes me feel full for longer, I feel it benefits my mind and relaxes my throat and also the aroma is very pleasant. I get very relaxed with coffee. Again each organism responds to substances differently REGARDLESS of a study around the subject. It relaxes my entire muscular system I love it. I don't drink normal coffee because it is horrible, I only drink Italian coffee because they know how to bake it. Hope this enables people that are conflicted to know that it's fine to drink coffee and beneficial, as every plant compound. Peace.

JJ, I wanna hug you! I would NEVER recommend drinking coffee to ANYONE. You don't NEED it, and once you become acclimated to it, you are probably going to drink more and more of it. Like any addict, I have bounced off and on the wagon, and off again. This is a true addictive substance.

As someone who has integrated coffee into my lifestyle, this video really helps enlighten me on how it has been helping me throughout the years (and how it's messing me up at times, such as the heart palpitations and the acidity and the diuretic effect and how it amplifies my hemorrhoids). PS: I love that you shared Elicit, I've been searching for reliable research tools when you shared this one.
I have GERD (and hemmorhoids) so acidic coffee was a negative side effect for me if I had more than one cup until I tried beans from a region that's found to be among the least acidic (Brazil) and it's been much more forgiving. Paper also does a better job than metal mesh filters at a cleaner, less acidic cup.
My German great grandmother lived to be 3 months shy of turning 100 (she passed in 1981) and she drank coffee every day as well as a healthy diet, except for the German bread which she only ate for breakfast. Her daughter, my grandmother lived to be 94 and she drank coffee during breakfast. My mom just turned 79 and she has coffee in the morning with no breakfast. Her first meal is a healthy lunch and light supper. I have no doubt she’ll also live to be in her 90s. Me, well, I can only drink the Starbucks flavored mocha coffees that come in the glass bottles. I drink one a day 5 days a week. I’m also the first in my family to have had breast cancer in 2014. I’m hoping to live into my 90s because I want to continue to travel the world for as long as I can and see my mom in Germany for as many years as I can.

A normal day for me could be moving a ton or two of boulders, a few tons of dirt and a few tons of 1/2” rock solo by shovel and wheel barrow…… then gym. Also need my Dr Burg fix for a physiological boost!!! He is an excellent teacher and very kind hearted…..

I’ve been researching all my life about food and supplements. Yes the things I mentioned I take might sound extreme to most people but most people at 58 are not moving tons of materials and walking 5-7 miles a day and then going to the gym if they can muster the effort. A Stanford study a few years ago showed that coffee drinkers (caffeinated) were more likely to live (more healthily) into their 90s. A reduced inflammatory effect (from metabolized caffeine) appeared to be the main reason. Dark chocolate, tea, etc also did this.
Hello Dr. I drink 4 to 5 cups day. Love it. This is shocking news. My kidney works at 53%. I used to have 2 cups a day period. Then jumped to 4 to 5. For the longest time when I pee, there’s bubbles in the toilet. Since I changed to 4 to 5 cups there’s no bubbles. Is coffee the cause? I do think the ACV in water is best as a pre-meal drink. Not heard of health benefits of it post-meal. This didn't come from Dr. B, did it? (Drinking ACV in water, post meal??)
I don't know about coffee. I heard that there's a study with CT scans that showed less activity/blood flow to the brain after drinking coffee. Also, heard that the acidity is not good. Almost everybody drinks coffee, so; my thinking is to do the opposite of what the majority does. I quit coffee 4 months. ago. 🙂

After massive joint pain I gave it up again about two weeks ago but now I have very bad vertigo that won’t go away. It definitely made me a lot angrier, gave headaches, and worsened depression. Caffeine is a terrible drug and I don’t care what Berg or anyone else says.

Sure, take your supplements when you fast, especially potassium and magnesium. Don't be tempted to drink a lot of water because you'll be flushing out whatever you have in storage, but of course, do drink when thirsty. I actually would avoid fasting when you have low iron. Your body is already in a compromised state and you should be healthy as possible when fasting. It is fun to fast with someone else too, but in the past, I had a friend who urged me to go past my limit, and my body saw this as stress. Within 6 months about half my hair fell out. So be careful and nice to your body and don't overdo it.

This was an unexpected benefit at the time as my focus had been to eliminate sugar intake, and I didn't realise the positive affect on my liver from drinking cafe americano's until afterwards.
Fatty liver cause by lot of sugar. Coffee not really help on fatty liver cure. I am obese before. Sugar and carb make me obese, fatty liver, hi cholestrol and sick Now i am in good BMI. Zero sugar and very little carb. Consistent medium to hard cardio exercise (cycling, running, simple kickbox). If no exercise, no carb no sugar, just full bowl of salad and a spoon of mayo, grilled chicken / beef / egg / fish. Now I am fit, great stamina. Good bmi, healthy food/lifestyle is the key to live better. Sugar, carb, carbonated drink, alcohol, energy drink, too much oil, etc 100% contribute to fatty liver. Talk about drink, just drink all w/o sugar like coffee, tea, plain water, fruit juice (dragon fruit low calories).
Good to know. I was recently diagnosed with fatty liver and I do drink coffee but only drink it black with certain foods that go well with black coffee. Most of the time I add cream and Splenda or a little sugar. I will try to do black coffee more often.

Coffee ceremony of Ethiopia and Eritrea is a core cultural custom in Ethiopia and Eritrea. There is a routine of serving fresh coffee daily, mainly for the purpose of getting together with relatives, neighbors, or other visitors.the process includes four basic steps: raw coffee beans must be roasted, the roasted coffee beans must then be ground, the ground coffee must then be mixed with hot water for a certain time (brewed), and finally serve it.I personally love our traditional fresh coffee since i knew this benefits im gonna keep loving it more thanks so much Dr.Berg.

Drinking coffee black coffee is an excellent replacement for many incredibly horrible beverages being consumed today.

🙏 My grandmother was a coffee drinker and lived to be 103.💖
What kind of scans? Caffeine sensitivity could be genetic, it could be from heightened anxiety or stress levels.
@@larryd473 - I don't recall the names of all of them but the most recent was a Zyto Scan. It's not genetic. I come from a family of coffee drinkers.
(could be wrong, here, but I don't think so.)
So, yah, I'm somewhat skeptical that this caffeine sensitivity was revealed in a scan. Would love to learn more about that, though, if indeed it was discovered via scan.
Oh damn me and my 6+ coffee a day… never thought about the chemicals… thanks for that organic call!

Improving mortality is real, and the reason I started drinking coffee regularly is because my oldest living relatives (101 and 104!) drank coffee everyday since they were young adults. Drink up! ☕
So they didn't really improve mortality. They reduced it.
A Stanford study a few years ago showed that coffee drinkers (caffeinated) were more likely to live (more healthily) into their 90s. A reduced inflammatory effect (from metabolized caffeine) appeared to be the main reason. Dark chocolate, tea, etc also did this.

I don't know about coffee. I heard that there's a study with CT scans that showed less activity/blood flow to the brain after drinking coffee. Also, heard that the acidity is not good. You mean you take iron supplements? Please check Dr Berg's videos on avoiding them.

It really makes a difference if it’s good coffee but even more so if it’s organic. I remember my first pound of really good coffee, then further on my first organic coffee.
This was excellent & you have persuaded me to continue to purchase organic and to use my coconut based no-sugar creamer. Good one Doc!! 👍🏼👊🏼 🙌🏼💕
Had a relative with Rheumatoid Arthritis and some coffees would cause bad flairups. They determined a low acid coffee was best to prevent these.
Thanks a million Doc that information was awesome as always. I started adding MCT oil in my coffee in the morning which has reduced my cravings for breakfast and I feel energized and active .
Very glad to be of help, thanks for watching!
@@Drberg does decaf have same benefits as organic regular coffee?
@@SRC267 If it’s not organic, no. As it still has way too much toxins which is very demanding on any body.
I wonder, does it stop people's growth hormones? I am 22 and listening to your video makes me want to start drinking organic coffee.
Coffee makes me sleepy!! I was never a coffee drinker but I wanted to try it to keep me up,a little boost. Total opposite.
I am getting there. I had one cup this morning for the first time this morning. And, I do organic.
This is great info! Thanks Dr. 🙏🏼
Most welcome! Glad you found it informative!
Thanks again Dr. For your excellent speeches about coffee ☕☕☕.
Dear Dr Berg,
Can you please do a video about vitamins and supplements not to take for a short or long time which will make your body produce less or none of it. So you should take those your whole life. Sorry for my bad english! Greetz from the Netherlands
He may have answered this in some of his videos on supplements?
I miss coffee ☕️ 3.5 years without it now due to panic disorder out of nowhere cant even touch caffeine anymore 😞 I used to drink 4-5 cups a day everyday..
DRINK ONE CUP IN THE MORNING ONLY SILLY
Ive been a Dr. Berg addict for the last 6 years! Thank You!
Thank you for your support!
Love the subtleties thank you Dr Berg
Glad it could help!
coffee and intermittent fasting goes together so well,. just keeping it at 2 cups a day, one at a morning and one in afternoon.
Can you sleep well?
@@Lonewolf-mt4fw yes,as long as you don't drink it late afternoon
@@heathermbambeni529 ouuh thanks for the response tho
I only drink organic whole bean coffee which I do in the French press but I do add organic turbinado sugar organic half-and-half and a dash of organic pure maple syrup and a pinch of sea salt, of abs i add a tablespoon of organic cacao nibs when I grind my coffee beans, am I ruining any benefits I may get get from the coffee by adding those things to it?
By the way I love you Dr. Berg thank you for helping me to live a healthier life
I am an organic coffee addict 😎 Thanks for your always valuable input, Dr. Berg! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
What is organic coffee and where to get them
@@ethelrizarri2614Organic coffee is grown without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers. You find it at some supermarkets, some coffee shops, and online.
I have been drinking coffee all my life. I drinking with a little of honey. I’m very healthy. I do not have any diseases. Well, also I exercise every day and I eat very healthy. I drink 3 cups a day. I buy Colombian coffee 💯 %. Thank you doctor for all your great information.
Hello Dr. Berg. Love your videos. I have a question. There was a doctor online saying there was a scientific research about coffee depleting electrolytes. My question is how can coffee deplete potassium if 1 cup of decaf coffee contains 224 mg of potassium. It just sounds counterintuitive to me??
Everybody is different. Some people may need to avoid coffee. But i find if i can drink it in moderation it definitely helps me. My mood, my energy and focus
Up to 3 cups of coffee and 3 cups of tea a day statistically significantly extends your life span, according to latest studies. I use stevia (no maltodextrin); and either almond, soy, or skim milk (which itself lengthens DNA telomeres and lifespan) and sometimes (real) cinnamon to dress it up.
Thank you Dr. For sharing this knowledge with everyone, I knew some of what you are saying but you have definately opened my eyes🙏 . Much love to all.
When the coffee beans are processed (which is very extensive ) most of the herbicides are destroyed.
Can you tell me more about that?
Love it.....12oz only in the am... prefect for us.... yep organic, mct oil, grass feed butter..... hero tremendously with prolonged fasting🥳🥳🥳
The book "Caffeine Blues" points out the numerous negative effects of coffee. I have one cup a day as well, but even that amount is extremely difficult to quit. I did quit for 8 months and had withdrawal but then felt great, but then slipped back into it when I bought some for company. A fifty year addiction is not easy to break. The greatest benefit to me when I quit was less anxiety and much better sleep.
Any suggestions on good organic coffee?
Amazing what we learn from you. I can watch your videos all day. Thank you so much Dr Berg. A cup of coffee what I need to get going in the morning. There was a time when I used to have five/six cups of coffee daily. Currently have cut down to one to two cups a day.
I quit coffee and months later found organic dandy blend. Its excellent! I found that all I really wanted was something warm to drink that wasnt tea or water.
Hi Dr. Berg! I started drinking coffee about 7 years ago, from a while now I have some strange and uncomfortable feeling after drinking but not always, is like niddles in my muscles throat, neck area, ears, chin and jaw muscles, can that be a reaction from coffee and if yes why and if not than what can cause such a strange feeling? Thank you for the wonderful and helpful information that You share with us! ❤️
Needle’s ?, like pins and 💉?
How bad?
Are you drinking organic coffee? You may be experiencing side effects of the chemicals they've sprayed all over it.
Get organic coffee and try it. Not all coffees are created equal.
@@titaniummaster1532 ohhh 😅 yes needles. Sometimes quite strong, I'm starting to massage my jaw and ears but don't feel any change. I've been feeling the same when I drink sparkling water, but maybe is just a coincidence, I don't know. I told to myself that I must test this again but somehow I'm not in the mood to get those strange symptoms again. No idea where to go and check this out, I made a connection with fibromyalgia but that's also not a diagnose that I got, just have the pains and believe that it might be that. I live in Germany and here I have the feeling like you must fight for any check you need to be done properly and somehow they look at you strange, so I might sound for them like I'm just bored at home.. No idea where to start. 🤷🏻♀️
@@Alice0030 sounds like maybe a nerve response?
I’ve recently started taking Benfotiamine fat soluble B-1
And I’ve been taking alpha lapoic acid amongst many other things…. How’s your blood sugar?
@@titaniummaster1532 It's good, nothing wrong there. It might be a lack of B vit's.. 🤔, Magnesium, D.. The thing is I'm really not good in taking supplements, any kind of pills, powders etc...
Many thanks. I stopped drinking coffee a couple years ago due partly because I just preferred green tea and did not want to toggle. But your vids about the benefits has me putting good organic coffee in rotation each day.
I also like farm fresh milk or cream and a little real personally tapped maple syrup/sugar or honey from our hives. If I am not wholly focused on keto is that going to hinder the benefits of coffee? Many thanks for the outstanding information.
