Hey Scotty. Been watching your videos for years. No thanks on electric trucks. Prefer my 2021 diesel Chevy extended cab long bed. She gets nearly 24 mpg and pulls like a train. 😅
My dad worked as a mechanic at Chrysler for many decades. He would say that he worked on Dodges and Chrysler because he liked having a lot of work. He drove a Ford F250 to work because he liked to get there.

MY DODGE,RAM AND JEEP HAVE BEEN GREAT SINCE 1995, SO HAVE MY DAUGHTERS AND SON IN LAW,CANNOT SAY THAT FOR MY NEIGHBORS FORD, AND A FRIENDS FORD, TRITON V8, JUNK,BODY DISAPPEARED! FIX OR REPAIR IS APPROPRIATE,NOW IS WATCH IT BURN !

South Texas dealerships placed the very few of the Lightnings to their far side, more hidden, spaces. The F-250 diesels are now front and center with many gas F-150 behind them.
Another classic Scotty vehicle review. I wouldn't mind having one of those pickups, but the old 2000 Expedition won't die.
“Park it in a heated garage”. Who in their right mind would park an EV in their garage, especially if it’s attached to your house 🔥?

Did you see the video of the guy got in the elevator with a battery for his electric bike. It exploded into a fireball. I don't know if he lived. But that battery was the size of a gallon of milk.
If you ever have a tool battery catch fire, that would convince you to never drive anything with a Lithium electrolyte battery.

The new Ford Gas trucks are JUNK........I'd take the EV, less moving parts to fail.
Build quality is TBD Scotty. My relative got a Ford and now 3 years later, its a rattle cage.
I miss my 1976 Dodge D200 pickup. 8500 GVW, 8 ply tires. I could put full 4 X8 sheets of plywood or drywall, etc in the back and still put the tailgate up. And still haul 10 squares of shingles with no problem. Even installed an 8-track player:)
I don't get it. Sixty thousand dollars, low range, terrible range under load. What's not to love.
Check the ford dealership lots. $60K F150s are not uncommon.
No oil changes or other common service. Brakes last longer with regenerative braking.
I expect Ford's next generation electric pickup to be better.
@@danharold3087I will attest to the brakes thing. My 2015 Honda accord hybrid has regenerative braking and she’s cooking at 130k miles on the stock brake pads, rotors, everything.
The horrible iPhone style interface to adjust the tempurature and turn on the defrost, so much easier than buttons and knobs (NOT)

secret ? ..gentle on the gas pedal and the brake pedal as much as possible. NO EV necessary

I travel a lot in my lightning. From basically Mobile Alabama all the way to Phoenix and back every year, I have no problems.

7:42 Would like the old guage style speedometer wrapped around the speed in digits, it's easier to read at a glance.
I bought a Toyota Highlander over a Honda Pilot simply because the Toyota had an analog speedometer.
These are great for local contractors! I'd love to have one for my business! Running around town, sitting with the ac/ heat on. One charge would last me for a week! Not to mention I can run it for FREE! I can plug it in at job sites to charge it🤷♂️. That alone will save me $500 a month in fuel!
Yep i don't even turn it off. It's a blessing in the summer in the south.
Definitely not an Alaskan rig.Bad battery life in the cold. Bad at keeping your body warm in the cold, if you want to go far. Ditto with running the windshield defroster. Bad at hauling loads any distance. Can’t throw a couple of 5 gallon batteries in the back for when you’re back in the boonies and far away from a gas station. Most trucks are parked outside year around. The extra weight isn’t a benefit when mud crawling. Not really seeing any upside to them.
A fair assessment for your area. Here in Southern California, people who never tow anything bought the Founders model Cybertruck for over $100k, just in case they encounter a puddle on the way to 7-11. Just an ugly toy.
The upside I see is nobody wants to steal it!

@@sdcoinshootera 6,000MaHh battery is much less dangerous than a couple a couple hundred all packed side by side that require liquid cooling to not go into thermal runaway when charging.
Still laughing about the Tesla owner who paid $2,000 for a gasoline powered electric generator that he carries in the trunk. Why not just buy a Hybrid and drive like the wind?
By far the cheapest house battery you can buy.
A tesla wall battery (almost the cheapest but by far the best) will cost you about a buck per kilowatt installed.
Those Trucks have 96-105 kilowatt hour battery packs and you can find them used for under 40k. Installation with the part is about 3k.
Youre under half the cost per unit of energy to power your house.
If youre into being off grid and self reliant this is a great product. Notice how i didnt say a great truck.
Are powerwalls a buck per KWhr or a buck per WattHr?
Your examples work with WattHr. Just curious, I don't know how much a powerwall and installation costs.
I have had my Lightning for 2 years and it is great pickup, I love it. I have been driving pickups for 50 years and this is the best one I have ever owned. I agree with Scotty that hey are not for everyone, I tow locally and it is a great tow vehicle, but you wouldn’t want it for distance towing. It’s cheap to operate.
Yep it is the best daily driver on the road.
And the price WILL be obnoxious regardless ... even with discounts. Let 'em sink folks.

Unbelievable Ford is making the '25 models, when they lose money on them and consumers aren't buying them.
The CAFE credits from this truck allows Ford to still make the V8.
They sell about 3k of these a month, I don't think that's that bad

@@crlaw75 They have sold 78% more EVs this year than they did last year at the same point. Why wouldn't they?
It's the range that killed it for me. Why can't they make one with a very small gas engine, to keep the batteries charged up, that gets 60 or more MPG. Now that's an electric vehicle I would consider.
I love my 2020 Tesla Model 3 performance+. Got it used after the prices dropped. Best value for daily driving and faster than most cars out there. After gas savings it's only 200/month.

Maybe this lightning is not meant for the traditional Ford fanboys! I am a EV driver and I bought one, first Ford ever! I love it! I take a few trips to Alabama every year, no problems charging when I stop. If you drive one you will change your mind. Scotty does not want to admit that he likes it.
If I want a EV I'll get a golf cart.

Ford lightning is so much better than the mache.
one thing i kinda appreciate about this truck is that it isn’t super gimmicky. most brands making electric trucks have these weird designs and gimmicks but this is just like a f150 but electric

I have one. It is awesome. Its faster than the dodge viper I used to have. I don’t tow far distances so that’s not a problem. It has tons of storage. It gets the equivalent of 90mpg. You can’t beat that.

I guess I’m not in my right mind! I’ve had EV’s for over 8 years. My lightning is my favorite so far. I also have two powerwall 3 batteries mounted on my garage wall for my solar system.😂
Scotty don't you think with a few more years of development they can come up with a solar panel or generators on the wheel motors that will charge them while your driving
My question is when you park a heated garage doesn't the furnace heat the rest of the house with the same air as in your bedroom? Also doesn't when the ev battery burn or starts to burn put off poisonous gas that can kill yuo in seconds. When there's a fire in a garage with 5/8 thick drywall for fire protection the heater vents act like bellow's for a blacksmith forge drawing in fresh oxygenated air.

Ford can have the electric F150 Lightening 💯
No mention of cost to operate. It equates to about 61 MPG on the highway and 78 MPG in the city.
No mention of 700 + foot lbs of instant torque or 0 to 60 in 4 seconds.
I don’t know of any new gas trucks that can compare.
If you want to know about EVs, ask someone who owns and drives an EV.
Everyone else, only has an opinion.
Right tool for the right job. If you need to drive 200 daily miles, or tow long hauls, then electric may not be for you.
Everyone else will begin to understand the advantages of electric powered vehicles.

It looks and seems to be a regular F-150 until you have to pay twice as much to buy it and use extra time to plan where you charge it on long trips. You will be forced to get an expensive charger or wait many hours longer. If you are a risk taker you'll get stranded. You can burn rubber but if you drive above 100 mph how long will that battery last? Take it on a 700 mile trip and see how it goes- bring lots of spare cash for Henry.
I really don't understand the mentality behind full lecky.
The hybrid option seems ideal.
ICE drives front wheels. Lecky drives the rears.
Gives us 4wd on call, saves gas when im a traffic jam, allows most people to do the daily commute on electric only.
We only need 50-60K (25-35 miles) for 90% of our driving, so we don't need huge batteries.
My ideal truck would be a basic modern 1.6 to 2.2 lite 4 pot, only a front bench seat that can take three passengers and the long bed for loading stuff. Those short beds are useless
I know MANY people that wanted the Harley Livewire! The reason no one bought it was because it was way too expensive! Same with new Fords! Especially the Lightning!

This truck would be great for short trips for my wife's horse shows. But not replacing my diesel anytime soon.

lol no because I pay almost nothing to charge my ev in some cases even free. Keep paying for gas and no I didn't pay a lot for my ev either so I'm actually saving real money everyday.

2022 Lariat full loaded ice vs my full loaded Lariat lighting was 3k differince...

Amazing following Scottie!! You really didnt touch on the real world fuel cost savings that this can offer vs a real world ice truck. I literally got one because i dont want to fund the middle east with gas money. If you can charge at home this thing can save you thousands.....PER YEAR !!!!!! I want to repeat someone elses reply. Get the right tool for the right job. This thing is awesome for the person like me who loves driving a truck daily but cant stand funneling a hundred bucks to the middle east once a week (sometimes twice) at the pump. And anyone who brings up dirty mining is conveniently forgetting the Exxon Valdeez and countless other disasters. If youre into 4-wheelin get a different truck. If your into towing camper or boat or whatever, get a different truck. if your into cruisin in a truck for half the gas price or better depending on where u live? Get THIS truck!!!!

I just bought a Corolla Cross Hybrid in Thailand. They can’t keep them on the lot. Basically they build them and when they get to the dealer they’re already sold.

There are still oils and fluids in the truck....just not motoroil
Should have made a hybrid with a small diesel motor that acts as a generator. That way there's no more range limit and you still get the torque from the electric motor to pull heavy loads

Yep, when I think Truck, Diesel, or a big Gas engine, not an electric motor. Something that will go 500 miles without stopping, & when you do fuel it up, you are done in 10 minutes or so. . not hours of charging.,

The main issue with the cyber truck is that it is designed around the short bed pickup trucks, similarly to those escalade luxury ones. Where while they are technically capable of some serious work, the expectation is more of someone using the pickup truck the same way they would use a car or SUV.
The main issue is that it's not possible for someone to design something so ugly outside of a 3rd grade classroom. Seriously.
Look at the trucks for sale at you local new car legacy auto dealer. Most of the trucks you find will have beds shorter than the CT. Having said that you are right. This is not the same truck market where standard cab 8 foot bed trucks ruled.
Tesla is selling a lot of these trucks to people who might have bought a large SUV.

Look on the bright side, if you heat your garage during the winter months, especially if you live up north then you also have the privilege of another 80 bucks or more on your electricity bill during those frosty months, not bad! 🙄

I own an electric scooter, and I actually like electric motors. The Tesla Plaid can outrun a Porsche. They have potential. I still prefer combustion engine, but why not have the best of both worlds?

I drove one a few weeks ago while my truck was being worked on. 2024. I hated it. It had way too many useless features. I really didn’t like the self driving feature. If it lost the white line on the right or you were coming up to a ramp, it wasn’t sure what to do. Go straight or take the ramp. Several times it veared off to the right for the ramp which I didn’t want. Ford can keep the 2024 trucks.

I think we'd all "like" an EV...IF we had the convenience and reliability of a gas powered car. In theory its a great idea, it's just not practical for the masses yet. I hope we get there soon.

I drive one of these as my work truck. I really like it. The truck gets about 320 miles when 100% charged. It rides smooth, accelerates quicker than most vehicles, and the screen is user friendly. We also have 6 of the new Silverado Electric trucks, which are the ugliest trucks on earth. In my opinion the Lightning is far better than the Silverado. 3 of the Silverados have already had electrical issues and screen issues...they don't even have 1,000 miles on the odometers. And they weigh 9,800lbs! If I were to spend 60K on a truck, I would consider the Lightning.

It's not electric motors..It's the battery pack energy density. Electric motors are great at towing because of the instant torque. For decades the rail companies have been using electric motors powered by diesel engines.
Those owners don't worry about torque converters being stolen or someone putting holes in the fuel tank. Just I would never own one or a fleet of them.
Rather than pay tax and insurance it would immediately be for sale. I'd buy a hybrid cheaper.
As a daily commuter and running errands around town they'd probably be fine as long as you can charge it in your own garage. Anything other than that. it's pretty useless imo.

An electric lawnmower is as far as I’m gonna go in terms of electrification. Until we get some kind of solid state noncombustible battery that is lightweight and gives me at least 600 miles of range with no degradation to the batteries capacity.
It's a First Gen BEV y'all, for some, it will work, for others it may not. The 1st Gen of almost any vehicle is usually not perfect nor fully refined. Pull up any 1st Gen Corolla or Honda's CVCC (precursor to Civic) and you'll witness a completely unrefined model vehicle. The first manufacture who can create an "Affordable" BEV Truck, which is reliable, and durable, will rule the market. One must crawl before they walk, walk before they jog... In a few years, Solid-State will rule the BEV and all the Nay-Sayers will be eating crow... or paying for Gasoline/Oil Changes, and all the maintenance required with an ICE Vehicle.
I wonder if the Fed Ex driver in the background likes all the deliveries Scotty gets.
