I want to thank you, I took three years of spanish in school and nothing stuck, I've been watching your videos since early February and I've filled two notebooks with the lessons and practice. I've learned so much from your breakdowns and the way you build on past lessons while teaching new concepts when you give examples really helps cement the ideas. I'm already able to read simple sentences in Spanish more from their sentence structure and grammar rather than vocabulary, so while I don't always know what exactly is happening I know what pronoun is being used, and to who it is being done, and usually the context fills in the vocab gap, haha I went out and bought 3 more cuadernos to keep the learning going, it's been a very positive thing through this current isolation. Keep up the amazing work! Thank you!

Thank you so much Dr Danny you make everything so clear. My Spanish is coming on so well with your help explaining how the grammar works. It’s easy to learn words but without being able to express yourself in the correct way speaking to a native speaker can be difficult. By watching your lessons and using a popular language app, I can generally understand and be understood when speaking with my neighbours and locals in Andalusia. Without your help I would not be at this level, but I’ve still got a lt more to learn but I’m loving it😁👍
Hello Dr. Evans. I really appreciate how you are helping all of us learn Spanish. This is probably one of the best resources online. Thank you so much. I have a question about a translation and I can't find an answer to this anywhere. English - I know that she is coming to the party Your answer - Yo Se que ella viene a la fiesta Why not - Yo Sé que ella está viniendo a la fiesta because it has 'she is coming' ???
Progressive tenses are not as common in Spanish as in English. You can translate "What are you doing?" as "¿Qué estás haciendo?" or "¿Qué haces?" with any change in the meaning. Although, some verbs, as "IR" o "VENIR", sounds weird in progressive tenses. So, "I'm coming!" is naturally translate as "¡Voy!" and not as "¡Estoy yendo!" nor "¡Estoy viniendo!".
Thanks once again, for a detailed and interesting exploration of yet another Spanish language theme. May I ask: aren't the second clauses, in all the examples, independent as well as the first. Is not 'que' serving as a coordinating and not a subordinating conjunction? I'm a bit slow but, I get there eventually! 🤔
