Tbh I didn't even know this was a meme or knew Pyrocynical visited it but after seeing the Morbius meal I'm now convinced to visit that place though unfortunately I can't vist it currently though I'll love to know where it is. It's nice how a meme has brought attention to this place and in a way it's quite wholesome because memes can work in many ways.

I actually went there myself, the fish was certainly fish, the batter was definitely coating the fish, the chips were absolutely made from potatoes, the soda was carbonated, and the peas were mashed. I walked out of there having filled my stomach, and no longer feeling the sensation of hunger. I'd give it a out of 10, definitely the food of all time.

As an English person I find it hilarious how badly received and misunderstood English food is to people of other nations.
Its like when someone miss quotes you and gets a whole bunch of laughs for it but they know it came from you anyway.
Also, when your national food is so bad that everyone else hates it, there are two major perks to this you're missing.
1. There's plenty and you only have to compete with other people that want it.
2. Everything else tastes incredible by comparison so we're easy to please.
2.5 Be careful with pleasing us too easily or we might just "borrow" your dish and call it our own (curry and Kebabs are now as easy to find as a chippy).
And the thing is, our curries aren't much like food in actual India, but they came into being in a completely legit way: from first- and second-generation immigrants opening restaurants and adapting their menus over time until British Indian food is its own fully-fledged cuisine. I'm sure there are similar long stories behind British Chinese food, Chicago-style pizzas in the USS, and so on and so on. I think it's fantastic and really interesting.
Some people act like the British stole curry from the Indians.
Also: British food is world class, you have to fuck up really bad to make a bad fish and chips, and those are always the ones that go viral.
The idea that there's no such thing as "british cuisine" or that the like is represented by cheap convenience food is basically an american invention. British cuisine are things like roast lamb, beef, chicken, duck, hard cheeses, roast root vegetables, soups, etc. Basically any food you would typically associate with a farm. But americans, candadians, australians, etc will all say "hey wait a minute, those aren't british! We have those too!" Except the reason they have them is because they came with british immigrants who were the majority to those nations. With americans owning the cultural narrative they rebranded british cuisine as "default food" that you don't really associate with any particular nationality and promote this idea that british cuisine is purely cheap foods that aren't as common in the US. Also most american cuisines are basically a creation of their immigrant populations adapting their food for the american palate, similar to how the indian immigrants adapted a lot of their foods for british palates.
