Guys, some have been quick to criticize the rider up front because he had a few slides. Keep in mind that we went up and down the mountain three times before it started to get drier. Out of those, I got all of the slides on video for entertainment value. When you're going a little quicker in the wet, you're prone to touch a painted line and get a slip. On top of that, we're both rocking hypersport tires that are less than stellar when it rains. This doesn't take away from the other rider being quick and smooth. Enjoy the ride and hopefully next time we can do it in dry conditions.
For one I noticed he was comfortable sliding a little, experience is evident on both of you because as you rightfully mention about your tires. Well done but you missed the Bembo calipers, and other bits. Nice job with that XR. And don’t mind the others, they feel they know everything, that is YT
Those who criticized the driving in wet road, are the ones who claim to have PELOTAS and go full gas, those are the ones who crash the harder sooner or later. Of course I don’t wish nobody to get hurt, but they are going to learn the hard way. Personally, I go 5% when I see drops in my helmet screen. Peace!
I also went from a GSX-R 1000 to the XR. It's the most awesome bike I've owned by far. Super fast! Flickable, and the most awesome up and down quick shifter out there. Super comfortable too!
@@grantbattison7948 I got bike finally after almost 4 mos of waiting lol. Such is the new norm. I've gotten a few rides on it so far (about 300 miles) and it seems to be a really nice bike. I have to get used to riding again it's been awhile since I've ridden.
@@grantbattison7948 believe me "taking it easy" is at the forefront of my thoughts when I get on the bike. It's been 12 years since I last rode. The last 3 years of riding that I did do I was a track day junkie. Now I'm nervous pulling down my driveway. Lol.
A little experimenting, I've always liked seeing the suspension working. Will have to do the same with the KTM once those crash bars get here, on that one I max out the suspension.
You seem to think the guy on the blue XR is better than you are. Maybe he is, but he sure made a lot of mistakes in this video. What I would love to see for someone to get is a drone that can be electronically tied to be 50 ft. behind you while you are riding. That video would show you exactly what you are doing and could be a great training aid. Oh, as well as very great to watch! Cuban Rider as always your videos are wonderful to watch. Back in the mid 70's I used to push a highly modified RD 350 on Dunlop K81's pretty darn hard. To have had today's tires would have probably gotten me killed. Stay safe and enjoy the ride.
Hands down my favourite video of the year... loved the harmonies pulling hard out of the tight corners 😁 Ty’s a dude and so are you Cuban! I’d freakin love to run through there with you fellas 😉
Cuban Rider, you Rock! My next bike will be an XR because of you. I have 35k miles on my R1 but it is breaking my back. I am just getting too old to ride sport bikes. You've showed me you can still have fun on a sport tourer! 👍👍
😄 A few months ago I would have been freaking out too, but there's surprising amount of grip as long as the inputs are smooth, and we don't run over those painted lines... those are extremely slippery.
"Ya ya we've been taking it easy." Wheelies out of the lot. Lol. Great video highlighting the amazing potential of the XR. I ride vicariously through you, who is clearly more skilled than I. Loved the video.
Cuban rider....you got my heart pumping. I wish I had a small percentage of your rider abilities. Un abrazo cordial de un Boricua en North Carolina...!
@@jonhorton761 I thought you guys were doing a few passes and I was going to see you later. You must have heard the epic neutral I hit accelerating up the hill. 😅
Given how sensitive the bike gets to minor debries when its wet ive stoped pushing it in the wet, especially when its damp. The only time ive gone down was when it was damp. A minute bit of dust on the road turned a 60 mph corner when raining, into a double wheel slip and a paint job in the 50s when damp. When it lets go due to debries while dry you usually get traction back, in the wet not so much. All that being said, awesome riding :)
I hear you, I went down on this same road while wet on my Suzuki DRZ400SM. That one doesn't have much in the way of traction control, but it let go very abruptly. I've had a couple of slides on dirt/gravel, and like you say, it's not bad, I but I did have an epic low-side at 55 mph on a thick patch of fine gravel I didn't even see; it was the same color of the road on a shaded area.
I always hated the wet, but on this past trip it rained for the majority of the week, didn't have much of a choice but to come out to play and find out the limits of grip.
Cuban Rider fair enough, I would be more scared riding in rain on big heavy bikes like adventure bikes tbh, you know what tires you both use on your bikes?
Amazing bike (the XR), superior driving skills (both) and the best mods ever seen on a XR (the blue one). Congrats guys! I own a blue one as well...I didn't have to watch such stuff...ah ah!

Nice ride Cuban Rider, I’ve been watching you in a a few of your videos, especially track days at COTA. Tell me, what is it you like so much about the XR, and also your comments on the compatible Multistrada? Thanks
Awesome vid, thanks for sharing. Tell me Cuban Rider what tires do you have fitted on your XR....they sure grip well. My 2018 came fitted from new with Pirelli Diablo Rossa Corsa 2 & they’re incredibly sticky, but I can’t squeeze more than 2,000 miles out of my rear tires & I’m lucky if I reach 3,000 from the front. 95% of my riding is over mountain twisty routes on the Spanish Mediterranean, so wet weather is not a concern..it’s sunny here 320 day’s each year!!! 😁😁😁
Still don’t think I’ve got the front wheel up. Definitely not to any significant height at least. Only had the xr 8 weeks ish. Not been brave enough for pro mode either. How different is pro to dynamic? Love watching you clips. Keep em coming
Thanks Tony. Dynamic Pro and open that throttle, it will come up for sure. Dynamic Pro has less safeties and disables wheelie control. According to the manual, it's for "track only." 😉
Chap in front is riding above his capabilities, chill out and stay alive. Not great braking in the corners either, try and be at the right speed and use positive throttle to power out. Cool video.
