  • We show you how to go about replacing Lund Nerf Bar step pads. This is for their 5" oval straight bars. After about 3 years, the pads dry-rotted and we decided to go ahead and replace them with new ones for around $8-10 each.
    Get them at summitracing.com (LND-5NERFPAD) or realtruck.com (RP123 - 5nerfpad).
You can find other models here: amzn.to/2J4aYCk

Good video on the subject. Couldn't believe how much water came out. The pads on mine are all good, it's the paint that's flaking off..mine are aluminum. Im assuming if I pry the pads off, I won't be able to reuse them cuz the tabs will break off. I need to get them off so I can powder coat them at work. A nice free benefit I get for working where I do.👍

What about filling it up with expanding foam while I got the barrel screws out to better prevent water intrusion? Think I'd be making a mistake?

Are these you installed 23 inches long? I was going to order them from summitracing, but they told me that part is 5 inches long. (The guy on the phone was not very knowledgeable. I think the 5 inches refers to the width of the tube/step).

Great Video! This looks to match mine exactly, but on the Summit Racing site there is a question/answer on the part LND-5NERFPAD stating that they are only 12" long. Your pads appear to be the 21-23" ones that I need. Can you confirm the length of the pads you received when your ordered part number LND-5NERFPAD? Thank you in advance!

My truck has the exact same pattern as this video. I contacted Lund about their 229911 and they said it would not fit my truck, which is a 2015 Ram 2500. Can you suggest where I might purchase the package of 4. Thanks, Johnny

Probably should've used a block when tapping in the plastic piece.

The Lund pads are garbage. Mine fell apart and disintegrated in just over a year. At a cost of 40 a pair, I have a hard time paying $80 a year for pads. I'll probably fab something from expanded metal or something. Will definitely not buy Lund ever again.
