I have amp steps on my 06, they r wired to open with the door, the way they work is off of the striker, for whatever reason they don't always cooperate, so I added switches, so it can open via door, but I can manually open with the switch... but, I used a switch for each side, and that's what I wanted to recommend, nothing wrong with how u have done it, but if u put something on the passenger side as well it would be alot more user friendly. Otherwise I think this was a really cool project. I love seeing the stuff u build. Keep it up... also love the love for the veterans... my younger brother is a disabled vet, and it means alot to see what u do to support these heros... thanks man

I have the AMP steps for my dad's truck, and installed a few. From what I can see they have a more secure mounting than the rough country. And I can say they're strong as we have a big guy at the shop and sometimes he stands on them when we're adjusting and tightening the mounts, and they hardly flex even when he bounces. Also I can see the way that the RC steps swing out being a potential problem off-road.

Amp steps are LEGIT! Worth every penny IMO. I have owned a set before and plan on another set for my new truck soon. Can't speak for these but the sideways action for me is a no go. Looks like it will just trap mud and ice then not function.

The reason it works with something like a window switch is because the motor on the unit works off reverse polarity like a window motor.
When power is applied the- ground turns into 12v and the positive + turns into ground
So either way you run power the motor will operate.
So theoretically speaking if you hook that module up to 12v and the control wires up to something like your dome lights it should operate fine
When the dome lights turn on the unit will open and when they power off the unit should close.

Wire the trigger wire into the door switch, then to a rocker switch. That way when you open or close the doors it’ll drop and raise automatically or you can use the rocker switch that way.

They look invisible and work flawless and its money well spent. Yes it was 9 hours of labor but in the end a total different outlook The difference is DIY and having it done with experienced Professionals your choice. Not sorry I did it this way. @@TruckMaster 🙏 thank you!! The equalizer ones are on back order which I found out yesterday from which I had ordered them (equalizers) on the 2nd of December. So those ones on your truck looks sweet and I’m trying to find them couldn’t and that would be why. This rims thing is such a mess. I now have tires at the tire shop waiting to be put on the rims that was a confirmed order in which was done at the beginning of the month. So frustrating

Factory steps are tested to failure then re-engineered to exceed the failure point. Aftermarket are junk.
