I took my running boards off a couple weeks ago, and that opened up a whole can of worms. I was not aware of the special fasteners that could fall down into the body cavity. After doing some research, I learned what a M8 rivnut was; thank goodness. They fit perfectly into the small openings.
For the rear bracket, You could superglue the washer and locking washer to the plate. So, when you put it in the access hole you don’t chance losing it. Also, tape the bracket in the middle either two pieces. A sandwich of sorts. That way you won’t drop it in.
Quick install tip. We install these for customers all the time. We NEVER use the inside bracket, it takes forever to line up. We always use a M10 rivnut for all unthreaded holes and it’s a godsend. Both sides done in under 30mins Side note: Assemble the step brackets on a bench and install in one piece.
This video was so helpful!!!! I acccidentally dropped a bracket mounting plate into the empty space in the frame but my truck had the manufacturer threaded holes at the front like yours so I only needed 4 and not 6, but other wise, this video helped so much in making sense of the somewhat confusing instructions! (I used Ionic 4" nerf bars)
This video was so dam helpful, my buddy and I had basically given up on installing a new set of HD side steps. Same hardware kit, same instructions... we had packed everything back up to battle for another day. I can now finish the job...Thanks
Absolutely and we have the same Ram 1500, I installed the softopper , decked drawer system, and new rear bumper. I still have a winch to install and a roof rack.
Did you have any trouble with the 8m in the front prethreaded insert? Having issues with mine. Have brushed it out, wd40 and still can’t get it started.
I like the video, I'm about to install the same bars. I don't know what happened to the install instructions. What color goes on drivers side. Green or clear. Or can you scan the instructions and send them to me. Thanks
That is a crew cab, right? Are the 3 brackets evenly spaced apart or is there a wider distance from the middle bracket to the rear bracket than the middle bracket to the front bracket? Hope that makes sense to you. I just had to return a pair of nerf bars because they didn't fit. Pretty sure they sent me bars for a regular cab 1500 Ram instead of the crew cab.
Did the threaded insert kit come with the step bars? I need them to do the same install but the last kit I purchased did not have them included and I don't know where I can find them.
Help. I need 4 of those little brackets with one screw already attached and the dealer parts dept doesn’t have a clue what I mean. I think they want me to bring it in so they can pop rivet something in and make a buck off me. Do you have a part number of the kit you used to attach? Manufacturer name, anything?
Will the nerf bars fit on the factory brackets that are already installed? My old step bars just rusted off but the brackets are still good. It would be nice if I didn't have to change out the brackets.
Thank you so much for this video. Did you buy that plate for those wholes on the centre and the rear or did the running bar came with it? If you bought it what is the name of it? I have the same issue I couldn't figure it out until I saw your video.
I got the same steps, but the bracket support at the back of the vehicle does not fit... unless I have it backwards but I've tried all ways and it just won't fit. Everything else is good
LOL, beating my head on my set of nerf bars trying to get them to fit, they mislabeled the hardware packs for me, my truck is like yours (2016) they sent me I think a different brand truck, none of the brackets fit.
A year later and I'm about to install these same nerf bars. Is there anything I should worry about? Maybe lock washers and lock tite? I had a winch on my Jeep that had issues staying on is why I ask.
My 2021 Ram 1500 quad cab doesn't have a spot or room for the support brackets, just the mounting brackets. Do you think the mounting brackets would be fine by themselves?
I really don't think so unless you only plan on having the step bar for cosmetic appearances. When you step on the bar, it's going to really torque that mount and probably bend the attachment point of the mounting bracket. That's my opinion anyway.
Ya take his advice. He knows what he's talking about for sure. If you mount them without support brackets they will definitely have a catastrophic structural failure to the primary attachment because of not having the support bar one can't last without the other.
Hey man I bought a new set that was donated to a habitat for humanity store and I got all kinds of mounting hardware that I can't use. I have some of the of the bolt plates some brackets frame mount brackets some body mount brackets bolts etc.... but I didn't have the brackets I need so made some work. I'm not sure what vehicle they're for or anything but if need them bad I'd just give them to ya if you got a way to get them

Living the American Dream. This guy ain't no slouch. Thanks for the video and extra knowledge you got my support.

So the side bracket that goes in the pinch weld is optional? 09 to 2012 don't have the pre drilled holes in the pinch weld.
Thank you for doing this video. I'm going to try this myself on my dodge ram. After this I'm confident I can do it. Thanks for the tips!!!
You're welcome! You got this!

Glad it was helpful!
This video really helped me install my running bars with no issue. Thank you for posting and the ideas to make it easier, even the pillow!
Glad it helped!

This is really helpful. I’ll soon be installing on my Ram.
Good video able to hear and articulate what he’s saying
I love how you edited this, Music the content, the camera angles everything was great
Thank you! I appreciate it!
I purchased the same bars. This video really helped. Thank you so much.
How have you liked them?
Pro tips are exceptional! Thank you! 👍🏼
I think i needed to see the first and actual action of how to do that first part!
I'm about to install the same steps, I really needed this video...lol
Well done, it will really help me figure this out.
Hope it goes well!
I needed to get that dang bracket out for a customer and wasn't sure how. This video @5:48 was exactly what I needed. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Thanks! Video was excellent. Showed me exactly how to install ours. Our time was almost identical to you :) Isall was very easy!
Great video of a great job ! I'm installing the same step bars but I always use some blue Loctite threadlocker. Thanks.
Thank you! Yeah, that's a great suggestion.
Thanks, made this install much easier.
Oh cool!!
Great video, very helpful! Thanks!
I had the same one and in three years they rusted, so now I got a pair of stainless steel ones
Thank you for your time
Great video. Awesome looking truck also.
Thank you …..thank you…thank you very informative 😎👍👌
Have you ran into the problem of the bolts not threading into the front threaded holes? Think it’s full or rust and I should run a tapp through them?
Did you have any trouble with the 8m in the front prethreaded insert? Having issues with mine. Have brushed it out, wd40 and still can’t get it started.
What did you do to fix that? I’m having the same problem
I like the video, I'm about to install the same bars. I don't know what happened to the install instructions. What color goes on drivers side. Green or clear. Or can you scan the instructions and send them to me. Thanks
I don't like those running board style. I ordered the raptor style with bedliner spray. Can't wait to get them.

I couldn't even get the first bolt of the bolt plate in the hole. Its almost as if the oval hole is too small, did you encounter this also
How did you manage to get the bolt plate to go in
Did the threaded insert kit come with the step bars? I need them to do the same install but the last kit I purchased did not have them included and I don't know where I can find them.

Jack what’s the tools needed bec w/out the said, u wouldn’t be able to install the subject 🤗

I think they would
My 2018 factory threads do not fit the supplied 8mm bolts.
Thank you so much for this video. Did you buy that plate for those wholes on the centre and the rear or did the running bar came with it?

These bars are still super solid. No loosening or anything. I don't see the need for any lock tite or lock washers. Hope it goes well!
What is the part number im lookin for brackete for mine
Great video, was very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Do you have a web page were I can find these hex bolts I need ?
Did you ever find the hardware? Because I’m having a hard time trying to find the hardware myself too
I don’t have the support bracket holes

I have the same truck 2021 and ordered the nurf bars for a 2021
Do I need the support brackets? I don’t have a hole to attach them to the truck. I don’t know if I should drill them
I would say you do need the support brackets. They help take the load. Without them you might bend the frame.
@@jackofnone5312 perfect! I’ll get it done. Thank you so much
Anybody run into an issue with their bolts rusting super quickly? The 6 that attach to the frame on both sides of my truck rusted within 2 weeks.
Nice work
Thanks
Any idea where I can find 6 of the bolt and nut plates? I bought used steps rails and can’t find the plates

@@garybrady7245 Man I appreciate that but my dad knows a guy that made me some.
Bro I don’t know how you did that without cussing the whole way
How do you like them so far?
Ahmad Al Ameer I think they're great! Still very sturdy after 8 months. Looks great too. I recommend them.
None of these videos has the same hardware is mine.
