These are great recipes, but I think to really stay close to the $5.00 (or closer to $10.00 these days), you need to do a bit of planning. Decide which meals use some of the same ingredients, so you can use them more efficiently. For example, if a recipe calls for 1/2 cup of heavy cream, find another one that also needs cream so you don’t end up wasting the remainder of the carton. If you have 2 or 3 that call for broccoli, buying the larger bag is usually cheaper. Just a thought.
This is true. An idea with the heavy cream is turn it into butter with your mixer. That’s what I do. Our butter is $6 for 2 cups (or 4 sticks).
Great advice. I only cook this way.
Larger bags aren’t cheaper anymore in most cases. Whipping cream can also be frozen for later use or made into ice cream or coffee beverage too. It makes a great cheese as well.
Where I am larger amounts of Potatoes or cheese are still cheaper. I agree about making a meal plan for the week and then using stuff like eggs potatoes and cheese in multiple recipes to help bringing down the prices. But Food prices do seem to be rising really quickly so it might change.
I did not realize u could freeze the heavy cream and it still be good. I don’t know WHY I didn’t realize it but it just never occurred to me Lolol. I freeze my milk a lot so I don’t have to buy it as often. Lol
Tip for your grilled cheese: sprinkle a little garlic powder on the outside of the bread. It tastes like cheesy garlic bread! I learned that tip from a coworker years ago. Delicious! :)
Hi 👋 Michelle how is the weather over there?
Great idea!!
@@johnnycharles2749 HOT!!!! LOL How about you? :)
@@michellem9444 where are you located?
This is a great idea that I do everytime I make grilled cheese sammies, yum!! I use other spices to achieve the same yummy such as Lawreys Season Salt, onion and garlic powders, Montreal Steak Seasoning, oregano on the bread and in the tomato soup, gives it an Italian flavor profile, etc...the skys the limit!! I'd suggest experimenting with the seasonings u already have and, have fun!!💖💖💖
Many of these meals were a lifesaver when I was a single mom of 2 little boys, putting myself through nursing school❤ Omelets, French toast, grilled cheese & sloppy joes. Most often, we'd have Spaghetti with a salad.
And kids love spaghetti!!
But many are healthy too!
Another great addition for the taco soup is sometimes in the freezer section they carry a fiesta blend of frozen corn , onions, peppers, and black beans.
That mix is very good!
And sour cream and corn tortia and cheese on top and olives. If she can fit in the budget. I am soo hungry now. Lol
I gotta get that fiesta blend. Tfs.
I can’t live without frozen fiesta corn 🌽. I use it in so many recipes. Just ( for me) the right amount of chopped onions and peppers
The chopping tool you can get at the Dollar Tree it's a Betty Crocker one & it works fabulous
I use the better than bouillon paste in the jars. I like to buy them at Costco much cheaper than at the grocery store.
Dollar Tree has a knock-off of that meat chopper. It's my favourite kitchen tool, too!
I have the dollar tree meat chopper too.
So does dollar general
I love getting 15 recipes at a time 💕
I'm so glad!
Grating your own cheese is much healthier as well as cheaper! It melts so well!
How is it healthier?
@@cynthiafisher9907 , she's probably referring to the cheese you shred yourself not having the cellulose on it. Not sure if that makes it healthier though 🤷
@@brandyfreeman4098 Maybe so, she says it’s much healthier. I don’t know how it. Old be much healthier?
I would 86 the carrots and add some of that left over salsa to the tortellini and maybe use less water to make it thicker.. sloppy joe = cup of ketchup, dollop of yellow mustard, splash of acv, dried onions and garlic.. you can add brown sugar if you want it sweeter or switch the ketchup for favorite bottled bbq sauce... costs half of manwich...no cheap corn? leave it out and use corn tortillas .. mayo on the grilled cheese instead of butter or save your bacon drippings for no cost and blast of flavor.. I add peppers and onions to the sweet potato bake and serve it in tortillas, its a camp favorite in a foil pouch .. breakfast for dinner is always a good thing, I recently made a pancake in a casserole dish with sausage, the brats didnt want eggs.."Pandemonium Palace, Pops prodigious pancake" talk about ez... the casserole quiche looked really good... my favorite part of a baked potato is the crisp skin, I have microwaved them part way and then put them in the toaster oven.. an air fryer would probably work but I dont have that or an instant pot... the rice and beans is ALMOST enough to make me get an instant pot!! I like a mix of black and cannellini/white beans in a lot of dishes especially with spanish rice and canned chicken or tuna in a burrito.. mini pizzas..86 the special sauce, mix spaghetti sauce and salsa or just add a little sugar and italian seasonings to the spaghetti sauce with a tiny splash of acv... the twice baked potato casserole sounds and looks delicious, maybe the skins dont need to be crunchy for that one.... yes I tend to write a LOT at times... I enjoyed the video and got a couple of good ideas to try at pandemonium palace
I make my spaghetti with sausage and sauce all together in the instant pot.
Only two steps and all done 😊
1.saute the ground turkey Italian sausage
2. Add noodles, seasoning, sauce, bouillon and water.
Pressure cook and done.
Stir and serve.
Recipe from Flo Lim channel.
@stephaniesosna do you do 4 minutes?
@@amypletcher4411 6 minutes, I'd suggest looking at Flo Lims video.
She has a spaghetti and meat balls recipe and another one. I adapted my recipe for the turkey sausage. But the seasoning and method are the same.
Super easy and quick
Easy and delicious recipes, thank you!
The salad dressing aisle bacon bits are a great substitute for strip bacon. I sprinkle them on the cheese for bacon cheeseburgers.
Dollar tree sells them
Make sure you use real crumbled bacon, not Bacos. Bacos are made of soy and don't deliver as much protein as authentic bacon bits.
I knew Bacos were fake for decades, and it was only when real bacon bits started to appear on the salad dressing aisle shelves that I even paid attention to that section for more than just dressing.
I use the bacon bits in breakfast burritos 😊
Love the recipes. Thank you for sharing. The prices on a lot of those items must have been from a few months back. Can’t find stuff for that cheap anymore ;)
I think it is from awhile back ( she is still preg in these, or some)
It depends on where you live. Prices differ across the country. For example, the 6 pack of eggs cost $1.78 in Cincinnati Ohio and in Oneida Tennessee, they cost $1.12..
@@coffeetime1 Fast forward another 6 months. Here in CA a carton of 12 eggs are 7-8$ each! Who has the nerve to act like a difference of .66 matters? Come on ladies, if you have it made where you live, then don't complain about the prices!!
Excellent video! My granddaughter is 15 and starting to love to cook these recipes were perfect for her! Thank you!

It is the WORST! But, at least the dinners are good!
Same in Florida. I kept trying to figure out either if this was an old video or if she lived somewhere cheaper.
Mmmm looks amazing yummy Thank you for sharing kristen have a blessed day stay safe and healthy. 🙏❤🙏❤🙏💖💖💖
Always delightful ideas!
With inflation these meals are closer to $10 but they are still the cheapest around...thank you❤️
I agree. I don't know why her prices are so low compared to my walmart.
Prices vary by where you live. But they are still less expensive meals!
@@JuliaCantley Prices vary greatly by where you live. Just showing that you can make less expensive meals on a budget.
I haven’t seen 93 cent buns in a year or so! I did see 8 oz sour cream October 2023
Splurge for the chicken broth instead of water, it improves the tortellini soup 100%...
Agree the bouillon cubes gross me out but this is a budget video so no offense to Kristen. Prices are what they are and she sure can’t help it.
I did girls camp last month I took my airfryer along and it was so fun I'm 65 and this video will really help me recover your awsome

I love that breakfast savory bread pudding/frittata thing! what a fun and easy idea for brunch. I love broccoli but asparagus would also be good for a little upgrade. also, I make easy chicken tortilla soup with a bottle of the cowboy caviar, some chicken stock, and tortilla strips, you can add cubed chicken thighs or breasts. super easy!
It's all so good!! Love it!

If you don't want to do over on your sloppy joe meal make your own sauce super easy, ketchup , brown sugar ,onion powder optional to add chopped onion and green pepper

Instead of bullion you can use the Goya in an envelope bc it’s half the sodium and each pack makes two cups.
Great tip thanks!
So frustrating NO idea on seasonings.. Guess I will wing it. Thanks for all your hard work
NEW SUBSCRIBER here. So many great recipes and I really appreciate you posting the prices too!

Great easy meals, 😊 Thanks
Of course! I'm glad you enjoy!
Awesome dishes! Though the broccoli, egg ham and muffins can you do the same with potatoes instead of bread of course the price would be a pit higher?
Yummy
You always give us the greatest recipes & ideas to change up what we do!! A quick question (or request 😉) Is there a quick/easy way to get to the video recipes?? 🤔💭💭 I'm old & eyes get tired easy lol. Thanks for everything 🤭🥰🌈🌻🎶🎶
Thank you!
You bet!
Great video😀
Thanks for the visit
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
It takes a little more time but tastes SO much better to make your own sloppy Joe sauce. I just use ketchup, BBQ sauce, worcestershire sauce, green peppers, brown sugar and a sloppy Joe spice packet. All of that to your taste. It always makes more than I need so I just freeze the rest. For my twist on the joes I take refrigerator biscuits push them into a muffin tin to make a cup, fill the biscuit cup with the sloppy Joe mixture ( with hamburger added) top with cheese and bake. Yummy stuff, my adult children still ask for this.
That sounds so good! I will for sure have to give it a try! Thank you for sharing Dawn!!
That looks delicious. There's something I've been thinking about trying. Shrimp salad with homemade mayo-based macaroni Amish salad dressing, with just a little sweetener and some lemon zest. Amish shrimp salad - could it get any better? Two worlds combined - seafood and traditional Amish cooking., and it can be done relatively inexpensively on a budget if you buy the shrimp pre-cooked and frozen. Just add some hot water to the shrimp and you're good to go. Hope you're having a nice 4th of July weekend. Bon apeti!
What are the seasonings for the Vegetable Tortellini soup?
I love just to watch your recipes they're so cool! And I love to see your pantry door open I would love for you to give us a tour of your pantry it looks like the coolest thing that is awesome idea to put it behind the kitchen if you have room thank you have a great day God's blessings!💋👍🥰
Thank you so much! Maybe one day! Ha ha!
Oops, I forgot one more
Ur so darn funny sometimes. Every episode u make me chuckle.
Glad you enjoy the videos!!
Plus grating your cheese is so much better than pre grated cheese because it melts so much better.
Good to know!
Butter the baking dish. Grate the skinned apples. Cut the stale rolls or French bread to 1/2 inch slices, cut in half. Mix the eggs, milk and a pinch of salt. Make a layer with the WELL moistened pieces of bread, next the apple layer, sprinkle with the sugar and cinnamon - adding the raisins and chopped walnuts is optional. Make as many layers as you want, ending with the bread, covered with the slices of butter. Bake at 350F about 1 hour or until the upper layer is nice and golden brown. Eat hot or cold. If it is too dry, add a bit of the hot milk, adjust the amount of milk the next time. You may put on a whipped cream.
Sounds delicious!
But I love the recipes!! Your videos are fun!
Thanks for watching Louise!!
Kristen, what kind of InstaPot do you have? I want one that automatically seals when you put on the lid. There are so many out there, I don't know which is which. Thank you.
Yes. The grocery stores around me are double the price as what she's showing But great ideas
Mine too! But yes!
Mine too in NC! If not more.
Here in the north GA mountains too. These look like prices from 2 years ago here.
Idea-jello poke cake in instant pot??
You have amazing prices where u live! Sadly I don’t have a Walmart with groceries near me. Everything looks delicious!!
Everything is so expensive!
You got the thumbs up for pretending the zucchini was in there!😉
Haha!! Thank you!
I tear up the bread and stir in a can of pumpkin into the other ingredients so good
Where do you live? I'm in SC and our Walmart is DEFINITELY more expensive🍲🥣
Thank you for these ideas. Going to try a few of these🙂
I use a little brown sugar in the sloppy Joe's. Delicious! 😀
Sounds great!
Thanks for the ideas! My picky water chose one of your recipes to try that was completely new to him! So I'm excited to try it!
Question. Do you poke the potatoes before putting them in the pressure cooker like you would for microwave or oven?
?
I never do but it wouldn't hurt to do it...
I would. Exploding food isn't fun.
You don't have to poke them. They aren't going to explode in the IP.
I want to try the potatoes!
They are SO good! I recommend!
Wow, grocery is WAY more expensive here in Canada 😭 great ideas 💡 thanks
Aldi is about half price, so it's doable for cheaper.
@@abbyroad3807 Aldi must only be half price for some. Ours is right across the street from WM and prices are comparable. I shop at Aldi bc it’s faster but it’s not cheaper sadly. Not anymore. Not any cheaper than the great value products she is showing.
