I’m a recent widower. I’ve never cooked a day in my life but now it’s my job to cook for my family. Your videos have helped me a lot come up with good meals my family love
I started making this for my wife's Birthday since it was her favorite dish. It was almost done as she walked into the door and asked me what I was making. I told her and you could see the look in her eyes. I said what? she said I don't think it will have the taste as the traditional way. So I kept on cooking and when it was done you should have seen the smile on her face. She told me this was one of the best meals I have made in a long time. She also said, don't loose that recipe.
Thank you for all your help.my daughter bought me a instant pot for Christmas and your channel has turned me into a world famous chef. All my food critic kids can no longer say there dad's food is terrible. Thank you
I've NEVER used the instant pot before, my husband usually uses it, but I've watched several of your videos today and decided to try this. THANK you so much for being detailed! This was absolutely fantastic! I think I'm going to really enjoy trying some of your recipes while I learn how to use the instant pot!
TRY THIS: Put the dry spices in first into a dry pot and 'toast' the spices. Then add in the oil & butter, then saute the onion, celery.... See if that makes a difference.
works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again. This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.
I made this tonight. I made it pretty much exactly the way the recipe called for except I added another potatoe, a little more poultry seasoning and pepper, I used the whole can of bisquits. It was the best chicken and dumplings we have ever had! I am a recent instant pot owner. My family is really enjoying all of you and your sisters recipes. Thank you!
Thank you for this recipe, I made it for dinner tonite-hearty, perfect comfort food. Seasonings are perfect as is! My new favorite way to prepare Chicken and Dumplings!
Your video was the best I’ve seen! Didn’t miss a step and I loved how you just stuck with the topic and didn’t go on and on about other things that weren’t relevant 🤣! Thanks so much! You have a new follower.
I’ve never made this and used your exact recipe and it came out perfect!! My husband even heated up the leftovers (which he doesn’t do unless it’s really good lol)
Good luck on your cooking ventures! My husband just retired from the Army after 24 years and lived on his own until he was 35. He isn't the best cook but did pretty well with a free good meals until we married. I've been trying to teach him basics of using Instant Pot for those times I'm away from home, so he and our boys will have favorite foods to make. I love teaching them to be self sufficient for the time they are on their own. Thanks for your service and GOOD LUCK! 😊
First, thank you, ladies! Awesome channel! I have been watching for a while. My crock pot stoneware has cracked and It was the push I needed. I got my instant pot and of course, chicken and dumplings is my favorite! My wife is an extremely picky eater ... ugg! But this is one of thing, she repeatedly asks me to make. I saw someone post about substituting the "canned biscuits." I agree, they are easy... but switching it with Bisquick makes a HUGE difference. I would also switch the cream for a can of campbell's cream of chicken soup.
This receipe is the best I ask my hubby to make it often I could eat it breakfast lunch dinner since my stroke and all meds they have me on its hard to eat some things tender stomach this receipe is fantastic! Easy to make delicious
I love chicken and dumplings! I made a similar recipe like this a while back, but it didn't have the heavy cream. That has got to make it even better! I will try this recipe soon. Thanks for your videos.
i don't have an instant pot yet, but i have a regular pressure cooker. my granddaughter sent me a picture of a cheese cake she made in her instant pot. so i decided to look around to find someone that could show me how to cook with one. i found you, and i am so glad. i love seeing the delicious meals you make , and if i decide to get one i will know what i am doing. thank you, and be blessed
Substitutions: Due to lack of availability with some of the ingredients, Tonight I substituted frozen chicken tenderloins for chicken breasts. I had them thawing for about 2 hours before cutting them into small chunks. They were still mostly solid but since they are smaller thinner pieces, the cooking time was about the same. I think I did 18 minutes instead of 15 for the first round. I also used pillsbury crescent rolls instead of the biscuits. The crescent rolls were rolled out, cut up and arranged the same way as the instructions. The end result was a softer dumpling that was definitely cooked all the way through. Hope this is helpful!
Awesome is what you are. Your family is very lucky. Just finished cooking this recipe and it's cooling on the table. Oh, and to my daughter Marrilyn thank you for the Instant Pot.
I made this recipe a few days ago with chicken thighs instead of white meat chicken in a three quart IP I kind of overdid it on the dumplings! I shared it with some friends who both thought it was great. I had to do some finagling because it was bone in skin on and frozen to begin with so I use some of your tricks that you’ve shown in the last year and it turned out pretty good thank you
Your videos have been playing all week in my house. My husband and I and new to the IP game and are in love . We have made spaghetti then Arroz con Gandules. Now we are making the chicken and dumplings. Thank you for sharing these great and delicious meals.
This is one of my family's favorite recipes, but I've always cooked it in my slow cooker, which means I have to plan it out. Especially if I want it for Sunday dinner after church. Didn't think about cooking it in my Instant Pot! Can't wait to give it a try in that. And BTW, your recipe is the same as mine! SO stinkin' delicious!
Oh thank you for this! Chicken and dumplings are one of my favs and I'm new to the Instant Pot thing. I'm so excited to try this recipe!!! Love your channel!
I am trying this right now I opted for fresh biscuits so I mixed up a batch . You do a great job of explaining and your videos are great . Thanks my wife said to lol lol she doesn't have to cook anymore lol lol
Yum. Thanks so much! This looks a lot like chicken pot pie “in a pot.” Our Tennessee family has always done chicken and dumplings like Cracker Barrel serves. Homemade rolled and cut biscuits. No cream. Stirring the biscuits does thicken the broth.
When I have a couple of biscuits leftover, I cut them, and bake them. I serve 1 per bowl. I hate having anything left. I will try this and surprise my husband. I haven’t made Chicken & dumplings in ages. He will love it.
This looks great but I’ve never done dumplings with veggies thrown in, and I’ve always made dumplings from a baking mix, my hubby can eat a LOT of dumplings and a can of biscuits doesn’t even come close to filling him up 😆! I will try this, thanks!
I'm trying celery in ours today. I grew up on my grams recipe. Just chicken, seasonings, biscuits. She of course made her dumplings from scratch but I can't ever get mine just right so I use canned. I make 6 quarts because my kids, grandson, as well as hubby & myself eat on it for a cpl of days lol this will be my 1st time making it in the instant pot. I'm praying it's a hit. Also, I don't have heavy cream on hand so milk it is lol 😆
I've tried making dumplings from scratch several times but Bisquick and milk is all you need for perfect dumplings. If you don't have Bisquick there are dupe DIY recipes for making your own.

I use gnocchi all the time. Plus you don’t need a second round of pressure cooking. I cook them on sauté, and they are done and floating to the top in a few minutes.
new to an instant pot. I received at Christmas and is intimidating but I'm coming around to recipes and looking at all these videos makes me want to start cooking in it. Do you have videos on instant pot fryer lid as well?
Here's a tip i bet you and your family and many people would like. At a winter campout for alot of people I went to, i was one of the main kooks😁 cooks. I made two big pots of chikin n dumplins, a southern family staple, i got a crazy idea to add radish to the kettles. The ones i had were quite large so i cut them into 3rds. When the meal was done kookin the radish had turned very light pink and had a consistancy of soft water chestnut/sortof. They still retained a slight bite to the radish. I and the people Loved them. Didnt tell them until they asked what it was and most had second bowl. I was a hero that evening. Yippee!!! 😊😊😊🏁🏁🏁 Hope you try it and let us know what you think about this simple addition. Thank You so much for the Love you're sharing with us. 😊😊🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This looks more like a chicken stew with dumplings. Looks yummy 😋 I just make chicken and dumplings with chicken, spices, lots of black pepper, butter and dumplings. It’s delicious. I’ll have to try your chicken and dumplings. Thanks for sharing. ❤️🙏🌸
This is going to be the most dramatic comment thread of all time 😂. Everyone has a opinion on chicken and dumplings. We all know grandma made them different then that because all of our grandma's made them different from each other and all of our grandma's made the best c&d. I think this looks good and I'm going to give it a try. It seems faster then my recipe.
Wow I tried your recipe I was amazed how great and easy to make I really enjoyed it. I am new to your you tube and to instant pot I am single but it is great for leftovers too. Thank you again you have really Blessed me.
Interesting so many comments about potatoes. I'm 54. I've always surprised when there are no potatoes. Homemade dumplings are so easy. This was good. I'll definitely try it.
I agree. It looks amazing and I'm eager to try. Have everything on hand except the heavy cream. Don't know when this was filmed but I'm watching during the pandemic and trying to stay out of stores as much as possible. So it's going to be a few days when I'll have the cream. But this sounds more like a chicken pot pie. Regardless my hubby will love this.
Your version of chicken and dumplins is interesting. I would love to try it. I am from the south and we would prob call this a chicken and dumplin veggie stew?
OK..I was wondering too..lol I'm like this ain't no chicken and dumplings...lol but it does look good..definitely would not call it chicken and dumplings in our house😁
@@elic903 It did motivate me to cook some real c & d after watching this video and they were the best that I have ever made. Yes, it can be done in the ip. That saute button works great and then you can switch to the slow cooker once you get them thickened up. I had pressure cooked my frozen ch thighs for 20 min with 2 cups of broth.
Hi, Kristen! I am not a fan of solid dumplings; I prefer 'fluffy' dumplings (like snowballs). If you have a how-to for that, I'd be thrilled to see it some day. Thanks! : )
Homemade dumplings are actually pretty easy, and very fluffy. I've used the Betty Crocker recipe, and they turn out terrific every time. Canned biscuits are just sooo much easier!
Buisquick makes excellent dumplings. I think the box has directions on dumplings. I use milk instead of water, and you can season your dumplings if you so choose.
@@peggybalagia8207 I haven't had much luck with Bisquick, set on bubbling entre, that's why I was hoping for an Instant Pot method. I DO enjoy fluffy dumplings but seldom ever find them out. : /
My mother always used the fluffy dumplings too! Found her recipe the other day so I’m going to try it with this. Blend together 1c flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt. Using pastry blender (or two knives) cut in 3 tbsp of shortening (butter, margarine, etc). Stir in 1/2 c milk, 1 tsp dried parsley (optional) and 1/4 c grated carrot (optional). Blend until flour is just moistened. Drop by large spoonfuls into simmering stew. Regular time cooking is 15 min with tight lid on. I’m going to try the 10 minutes used for the biscuits.
Ok.I’ll join the “My (insert ancient relative’s name here) used to make it this way” schtick here. 😄 My aunt would make this with dumplings made from scratch. I don’t know her recipe, but they came out ever so light. Oh, and no potatoes. This recipe looks delish. And I know I’ll never try dumplings from scratch. The weather is supposed to turn colder and snowy early next week. So, a great time to make this.
I was confused on a few things. You didn't wash you potatoes? Right out of the bag? After 1st stage of cooking chicken you went right to the cutting and adding biscuits, BUT the lid was off the pressure cooker....did you wait for it to self vent once the 15 minutes were off or quick release? I have always done this meal with bisquick. but love your variation. Dinner tonight!
This looks so delicious! I am a little confused, though, by the process. Do I do the cooking in two stages? Cook the chicken & veggies for 15 minutes, then release, add the biscuits & pressure cook for another 10 minutes? If anyone can clarify this, I would be very appreciative!
I made this recipe and the taste was amazing! BUT am I seeing this right and I’m actually cooking it twice? Also mine turned out very runny even though I kept with the measurements in the video. Any tips on that? Thank you.
Hey Chris and I love all of your videos I think you're wonderful just wondering does it matter if you were to put all that stuff together and then use the broth to make the chicken and dumplings later just saying love you hun love you recipe great job peace
This is similar to my version but I like to sprinkle a little bit of seasoned flour ( flour+ poultry season) on the board when I roll out the biscuits. It's the easiest way to thicken the gravy and helps them from clumping together
They have come out with a few newer versions of Instant Pot, Duo Plus and Duo Crisp. Also different sizes 6 or 8 qt. Can you please recommend if you had your choice of the "newer version" which one would you like? Thank you.
I can't help but ask before I make this, with the two different times, are the carrots and potatoes mush by that point? I'd like to adjust time to avoid that happening
I’m a recent widower. I’ve never cooked a day in my life but now it’s my job to cook for my family. Your videos have helped me a lot come up with good meals my family love

I used this recipe with the Joy of Cooking’s dumpling recipe. I prefer fluffy.
Ok.I’ll join the “My (insert ancient relative’s name here) used to make it this way” schtick here. 😄
My aunt would make this with dumplings made from scratch. I don’t know her recipe, but they came out ever so light. Oh, and no potatoes.
This recipe looks delish. And I know I’ll never try dumplings from scratch. The weather is supposed to turn colder and snowy early next week. So, a great time to make this.
You need to make your own show frfr not just on UA-cam but like actual TV A
Love your videos. I am single and would like to know if the leftovers can be frozen Thank you for your ideas🌞
Chicken and noodles is my fave IP meal. I'm definitely going to try this though because who doesn't like dumplings? 😉😉😉
Wow, I've never had it with potatoes.
Yes, correct!
I made this recipe and the taste was amazing! BUT am I seeing this right and I’m actually cooking it twice? Also mine turned out very runny even though I kept with the measurements in the video. Any tips on that? Thank you.
So these instructions have us pressure cooking the chicken twice? Once just the chicken and veggies and then again after we add the biscuits??
Love your channel new subscribers
Welcome!!
That's a great idea!
Made for dinner it came out great I didn't use vegetable because kids. Will be hard make double batch for family
They have come out with a few newer versions of Instant Pot,
Duo Plus and Duo Crisp.
Also different sizes 6 or 8 qt.
Can you please recommend
if you had your choice of the "newer version" which one would you like? Thank you.
Just got an Instant Pot and this is the first recipe I tried. It was fantastic! Good to hit a home run on the first at bat! Thanks!
One of my favorite meals since I was a kid. But I prefer slippery dumplings.
Im glad I found you guys! This recipe was delicious. Also, was my 1st Instant pot use. Thank you!
For the chicken and dumplings could you use bisquick dumplings?
I can't help but ask before I make this, with the two different times, are the carrots and potatoes mush by that point? I'd like to adjust time to avoid that happening
