I was diagnosed with Lupus at the age of 17 and it was a very difficult time for me. My doctor prescribed prednisone and hydroxychloroquine, which made me miserable. As I grew older, I tried multiple elimination diets, but even some of the foods that were deemed "healthy" by my doctor, such as quinoa, cashews, rice, turnips, beets, coconut, soy, beans, lentils, and most vegetables, caused me to experience flareups. There were times when I felt like giving up because I was taking excellent care of my body, yet I still wasn't improving. Despite how crazy it may seem, what has worked for me is a complete 100% grass-fed meat diet that excludes pork and chicken and only includes 100% ruminant meat, such as elk, moose, and cows. I have been on this diet for about a month now and I am already starting to feel normal again. My brain fog has significantly decreased, joint pain is subsiding, and my face is clearing up from acne. My overall skin looks healthier and it's only been a month since I started this diet.

@@porkbones8751 Aww I am sorry to hear that, I wish her all the best. So I just want to point out first by saying I've never felt better physically in terms of well-being on just meat but about a week ago my energy levels were really starting to diminish. I tried eating more fat but still felt very tired and lethargic all of the time. I am 6'2 and a very active guy and I was slowly losing my energy for the gym and that really sucked. I was eating so much freakin meat everyday I was legit spending over $50 a day to keep it going and the fact that I don't drink caffeine or anything I had to make a compromise. I started incorporating organic fruits such as bananas, papaya, blueberries and green apples and gotta say my energy has significantly improved. I don't want to eat fruit everyday but am planning on getting on a regime where I will eat only meat through- ought the week and then indulge with fruit on the weekend. Other than the cheat day I had over the weekend I still feel pretty good. On a side note I'd definitely cut out the greens and see how she reacts and give it at least a week with just meat and fruits. From personal experience if I had a big bowl of broccoli with my meal I would have flare up symptoms the next day it's super weird. That's ultimately when I decided to cut out vegetables and ever since I haven't looked back.

@@Glhaw thanks mate for replying back. Im in Australia and the specialists are still trying to piece the puzzle together before going ahead with 2 months of light steroids and some other drug they say she will need for the rest of her life. I will research those drugs when the time comes. Very hard as this Lupus came from nowhere, she was playing netball just 3 months ago. Im just researching every avenue for her to ensure she still gets the best life considering. Meat eating is another option i will explore as well. Appreciate you sharing your story. Cheers.

Dr. Chanu, is it possible to have bowel movements two to four times every day . why not have a colon cleansing once a week. I remember in younger days I had a working colleague 50+ years old from Ceylon, who would take some fruit ENO [a laxative fruit powder which was very popular in the earlier years] on the weekend to flush out his colon. He told us it is a first class anti-inflammation of the body. He never had flu or fever. I am now 86 years old and a great grandfather. Though I clear my bowel every day, but still I am thinking of colon cleansing once or twice a month. what is your medical professional opinion?

I'm going to copy and paste my message from another user I commented on. I believe this could help you out as your body seems sensitive like mine. My comment follows: I suggest following a specialized diet to determine which foods cause you discomfort and which do not. Through a seven-year elimination diet, I discovered that my body is extremely sensitive, and now I can only tolerate 100% grass-fed ruminant meat. I experience autoimmune symptoms after consuming grains (including quinoa, rice, and amaranth), dairy, starches, soy, coconut, corn, nightshade vegetables (such as tomatoes, beets, turnips, and potatoes), certain nuts (like cashews), processed foods, and seed oils. Pork and chicken also cause autoimmune symptoms. Moreover, artificial sweeteners severely upset my gut, and while stevia is okay, it still causes some stomach discomfort. Recently, I had to switch to an all-meat diet because even vegetables like spinach, kale, lentils, and beans began to upset my gut and affect me negatively. I'm sorry for the novel but I hope there's some good info in there for you. If you have any questions dont hesitate to reach out! FYI I was diagnosed when I was 17 and am now 24.

So what veggie and fruit do you eat? Thanks so much.🙏🏽❤️

In my opinion, it's best to avoid taking Tylenol frequently as it can harm your kidneys. Additionally, if your Lupus worsens, your body may attack your organs, leading to severe damage or even death in some cases. Although I don't want to frighten you, I wish I had known this information when I was first diagnosed. @@roundsquash6392 Absolutely no worries at all glad I can give some insight! So I have to say I am genuinely blessed In the sense that my Lupus isn’t attacking my skin. But when I eat something I’m not supposed to or get flareups from stress the following happen:
      1. My knees and elbows get visually swollen and ache pretty badly. My hips, neck, and lower back get really stiff and ache really bad.
      2. I get extremely fatigued and irritable.
      3. I get those weird mouth ulcers.
      4. Pretty bad brain fog which I think is attributed to the fatigue. Just feel off the entire time I’m flared.
      5. I break out pretty severely with acne, definitely from the combination of stress and lack of sleep from the aches.
      6. And as I stated on my previous comment my guts feel inflamed as I get pretty bloated.
      7. I get really bad depression and anxiety as-well, doesn’t happen all the time but it really comes out when I get flares. I read a statistic somewhere that 60-70% of Lupus patients feel symptoms of depression throughout their illness. Which is understandable as this disease affects your quality of life like no other.
Another aspect that I recently discovered was when I went to Mexico for vacation I was unable to stay exposed to the sun more than a couple of hours. It was miserable, it caused like what seemed to be mini flares and felt like I went through a 8 hour cardio session. Extreme fatigue, swollen joints, and mouth ulcers. I know know UV exposure is not good for people with Lupus so keep that in mind.
Another thing to keep note of as-well from my personal experience is once you start going on these special diets your body gets super sensitive to foods when you try and reintroduce them. For instance I had months where I would try and reintroduce foods that I used to eat like quinoa, rice, or even whole milk. And holy full blown flares the next day. And as of right now my body is so sensitive that if I have let’s say a bite of a cookie I will feel the inflammation 30 minute to an hour later it’s crazy. Do you think
We can cure kidney damage (through lupus ) by eating these good foods ?

This sounds ridiculous at first but look up "autoimmune conditions improving by eating a 100% ruminant meat diet." I'm a month in and my Lupus symptom's are going away while not on any medications. It's incredible

I've been working to increase my greens, but since doing so, my bloating has increased considerably, as has my diarrhea. Especially with salad-type leafy greens. I used to bw able to handle and eat nuts and veggies and all slrts, but now more and more are bothering my stomach, causing bloating and IBS symptoms, as well as lentils. I already don't eat dairy on average, but when i tried to cut out gluten it left me sweaty, weaker, and exhausted without hwlping me in any noticeable way; and I tried cutting it out for around a month. I’ve also noticed that i can usually eat beef without stomach pain, even when other foods bother me.... any advice or recommendations? The only thing doctors had to twll me concerning my gut health was IBS and spastic colon triggered by hormonal changes.

This guy is in my opinion incorrect advice for people with lupus. Meat is not inflammatory full stop! This is misanthropic and many autoimmune people (like myself) have and will benefit dramatically from eating a meat based diet.

    • @charliegarcia7305

he recommends 2-4 bowels moments a DAY! Does he think humans are cows. chewing and eating grass all day? Lol sorry this is just BS. Lentils, beans, PECANS? No Dr is a terrible advise for people with autoimmune (Lupus). Meat is a health food! Fiber is a big scam along with low fat.

It is for some people with autoimmune disease. I had to stop eating meat to get better, each time I eat meat my body swells up.

    • @jeffgobert9325

@Fola Dada really ?? That seems very unlikely. In the wild, that would be a death sentence anthropological
To that I would ask what kind of meat and what were you putting on it ? Also had you been bitten by the lone star tick or have alpha gal ?

Hello from California..you are very right ❤😢😮
      But don't be discouraged🎉
I have SLE/Lupus for 40 years and I have soooo many ailments that one can never imagine 😳 😅. In 2010 I have Interstitial Lung Disease, which I've to bring O2 tank just to breathe. In 2012 I had subdural hematoma and triple cranial (open head surgeries) in 13 days, and I'm still here 😀. I'm having my number?? (can't count it) my flared up now and have been on chemotherapy drug Cytoxin and Retuxin/Retuximubab 🙃 and it didn't work😅, so now I'm on Benlysta/Belimmubab Infusion every 4 weeks with 30 other different medicines😮 and still have to go on. Cheer up!!🎉 because if you stressed out then your Lupus will flared up more ❤ Remember noto eat any alfalfa sprouts and brussel sprouts, because it can cause flares up which will lead to dialysis. Also control your sugar so you don't get diabetes. Lupus is not the end of the world, you still can enjoy your life to the fullest 🎉❤, however 😉, try to stay out of the sun(cause it's hot) because it can worsen your Lupus😮
There you go, enjoy your life while you're still alive 😉 😊. Go thru your life without frets and stress, just because Lupus. Tomorrow will be a better day ❤❤❤
