Great content Dr. Ruscio, I Have been battling IBS-C for a long time. I'm very health conscious and exercise regularly. However in the last 12 years since the start of my digestive issues I have been leaning toward intermittent fasting 16/8, lower carb. Regarding Glutamine, there's a fair amount of research on how it feeds cancer cells and tumor growth. As someone who is currently in remission with CLL (Chronic Lymphocitic Leukemia) I have to wonder if supplementation with Glutamine might shorten my progression free survival time. Michael, what are your thoughts on the connection between glycine rich food for supporting gut lining and the idea of addressing the seemingly problematic and ubiquitous methionine excess: not through the seemingly straightforward measure of directly restricting methionine, but through improving glycine to methionine ratio (which turns out to perhaps be the superior way of addressing excess methionine / homocysteine)...?
Doctor, thank you for the information provided in your videos I have struggled with IBS for over 25 years. Question: what about chia seeds and flaxseed?
Hi. I am currently taking triple therapy probiotic, it is helping I think? Bowels moving slightly better. Brain fog slightly better, but bloating still.
Try hemp hearts, great omega 3's no soaking or grinding, light buttery, nutty taste they say. I think they don't really have any taste. Go well on both savory and sweet food. They look sort of like sesame seeds. A little expensive but they last a long time because you only need 2 tablespoons a day. Can get at Walmart.
hello sir ,iam from India, thankyou for giving wonderful information to us, i have one major doubt is raised in my mind ,'is curd is suppose to be consume ?, iam suffering from psoriasis ?
The problem with recommending dark chocolate if you have leaky gut is that you will feel the oxalates in it, in my case I dump the oxalates through my eyes so I wake up the next day with slightly irritated eyes and eye boggers after eating oxalates.
There's a HUGE problem with recommending animal products when people are suffering from leaky gut. Dr McDougall talks about animal proteins seeping thru in the bloodstream (has many videos talking about it), the body is triggered and creates antibodies to protect itself, problem is those animal proteins have similar molecules to the human body, such as in organs, etc causing the antibodies to attack the body as well along with the animal proteins, this is called MOLECULAR MIMICRY. I'm shocked this doctor has no clue about this phenomenon and is recommending animals where he's hurting what he's trying heal. Unbelievable!
Hi Dr. Ruscio. As an experienced figure in the field of gut health, what would you say to a campaign to rename IBS to DBS/DBD? ‘Dysfunctional Bowel Syndrome/Disorder’. The term ‘irritable’ to describe a chronic condition almost seems to trivialise the health implications of the condition. The idea that our gut gets ‘irritated’ doesn’t begin to capture just how unpleasant it can be. It also has so many more implications on general health as you have so extensively highlighted in your videos. I’d be very happy to see the condition reevaluated in this vain. I’d be interested in your thoughts. Many thanks for reading and keep up the great work.
@@OGAestheticsDepends on the person. Oxalates do not affect me or aggravate my issues (motility issues for a decade and bouts of IMO; only this past year getting better as I learned "not good" and "good" applied broadly is a guidelines, not a rule that applies to each individual).

AIP, low fodmap, low histamines/salicylate/oxalate, I am very confused. Also, with MCAS/histamine, it’s hard to tolerate probiotics and fermented food. When leaky gut is severe especially bec of antibiotics, you have extreme sensitivities to food in general, supplements and prescriptions. Hope they come up with something like FMT or better than that. Do you have any recommendations for probiotics suppository? I may do elemental diet but it didn’t help before maybe bec I wasn’t told to take any probiotics as it feeds Sibo.
Managing leaky gut and sensitivities, especially with MCAS and histamine intolerance, can indeed be complex. Given your situation, here are a few recommendations: Probiotic Suppositories: These can be a good option when oral probiotics are difficult to tolerate. Some people find relief with brands like Klaire Labs Probiotic Suppositories or Bio-Kult Infantis. It’s essential to choose products that are free from common allergens and additives that might trigger your symptoms. Elemental Diet: If you decide to try an elemental diet again, it might be worth working with a healthcare professional who can guide you through the process and ensure that you’re using it correctly, including any necessary supplements. Sometimes, addressing underlying conditions like SIBO or dysbiosis with appropriate treatments can make a difference. GI-MAP stool testing: While this isn't always a perfect solution, it can shed some real light on what's ACTUALLY going on in your microbiome. Custom Probiotic Formulas: For those with extreme sensitivities, some practitioners offer custom probiotic blends tailored to individual needs. These can sometimes be more tolerable and effective. Gut-Healing Supplements: Consider supplements like L-glutamine, zinc carnosine, and collagen peptides, which can support gut healing without exacerbating sensitivities. Consult a Specialist: Since your situation is quite complex, working with a specialist who has experience in managing severe cases of leaky gut, MCAS, and histamine intolerance can provide you with personalized strategies and adjustments. It’s a tough journey, but with the right approach and support, you can find strategies that work for you. Hang in there!
@beth4698 -you are so right. It can be so confusing. So much conflicting information. I have found that when a person has so many food sensitivities, its usually dysbiosis in the gut. Do you mind if I ask what you're most annoying symptoms are?
@@Wendy-Frazier Just some information I recently learned. Underlying latent viruses can cause a myriad of symptoms, and mine were due to the herpes virus type 1 and 2. I want to do a 3 day solid good fast.. as I commented below I would buy your powder but some ingredient are questionable for my system so I have reservation. At this point I would drink unflavored no sugar taste drinks if it would kick start the healing process/journey. Anyone know of any like that?
A lot of these items are high in histamines so if you have histamine intolerance or mast cell activation syndrome, you may not want to drink bone broth. Marine collagen is high in histamines! These are things I will not take because of my histamine intolerance.
Yes, this is my challenge. Is the histamine intolerance caused by leaky gut? I wondered about doing the probiotic protocol for 3 months, then slowly reintroduce foods triggering histamine, as well as continuing to avoid gluten & sugar. What are your plans ?
Im hopeful that I can get an answer here that might help others as well. One of my biggest struggles is keeping track of optimal times to eat and what foods to not introduce TOGETHER. Ive learned that some vitamins compete with each other if taken at the same time . Are there foods in this list that need to be spaced from each other due to their function? Not necessarily if there are adverse effects , but rather if certain foods will neutralize each others effectiveness if taken together.
I was suspected that I probably have leaky gut as i am only 50 kg when I tried eat more carb I have high glucose instead of gaining weight, bloating constipation low trigleserida. Now I limit my food for chicken (boiled) fish pumpkin, carrot, chia seed avocado. Supplemented with MCT, glutathione, collagen, probiotik, enzyme, omega 3 vitamin d, l glutamine. I enter my 3rd month, I no longer have bloating bloating, skin improved, no acne, my hemorrhoids is gone. Yet i go to toilet about once in 5 days but I don't have any difficulty experience when in the toilet. Is that still okay?
Great advice😀! Thank you for the info and reminders. I’ve had ibs since I was exposed to low level carbon monoxide, 6 years ago. Had to have multiple funding polyps removed and am sensitive to everything I put in my mouth now.
I am so sick of all the doctors giving their "expertise" on this topic and arguing with each other. When is the professional unprofessional? If they all differ so much? What are people to do or believe, you all want to sell a product. This is enough to make people crazy, STRESSED and much worse!
Amen, to that, proof is in the pudding, went from 300lbs to 167lbs. n counting Didn't happen overnite. You have to reverse your eating habits, to healthier options. They all have good advice, but you have to be your own guinea pig, and find what works for you.😉🇺🇸
Plz ans.... I have psoriasis arthritis. Pain in joints and Inflammation. Which food i should avoid? I have heard that this is associated with leaky gut.
I keep saying it. Histamine overload, histamine overload, histamine overload. Best leave bone broth and fermented products out, it made my gut issues worse. Please take a look into DAO and zeolite (Modified and Activated Natural Clinoptilolite). Both helped me in my healing journey. Never looking back.
Everyone’s body is different. Sad to hear that bone broth and fermented foods worsened your situation. But that isn’t everyone’s story. We have to start looking at things according to bio individuality.
Darn! Got some bone broth bubbling away right now. How did you work out that it causes histamine? Btw I agree with any fermented food causes me problems.
My only symptom I have is constipation, I can go multiple times a day but I still rarely ever get a complete evacuation and I never feel like i can achieve one. Would altering my diet be beneficial? Do you think an elimination diet would be good or should I go low fodmap directly? I take collagen, turmeric, I incorporate a lot of fruits and vegetables in my diet and eat a good amount of protein yet I seem to not be able to completely evacuate. But I do not get severely bloated or gassy, I do notice belching every now and then. These symptoms used to be a lot worse but over time with probiotics and supporting my gut it has drastically decreased. Just the constipation remains. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 😊
Thank you all for the advice. I been trying a lot but I think I need to be more consistent in certain things but a complete bowel movement seems like a dream these days
I have the exact same issue but I found that eating gluten free oats with half teaspoon of chia seeds soaked in dairy free milk for a few hours or over night consumed with blueberries gave me a proper empty bowel movement. Don't eat chia seeds raw, ensure they are soaked so they expand, warm up the oats and consume. Taste great too

Almost everything listed is bad for mcas. I struggle with what to do.
This is gold! thank you for putting this out
excellent the most informative i have ever seen on diet and healing the gut.
So happy you think so!
All the effort you out in this videos, really, is a blessing in my life and gut health. Thank you so much Dr. Ruscio!!
That means a lot to hear. Thank you so much for the comment and for watching! :)
Hi Dr. R. Is there a way to make your own predigested liquid food? I can't eat maltodextrin. Can I just blend my food? Thanks for any help.
Doctor, thank you for the information provided in your videos
I have struggled with IBS for over 25 years.
Question: what about chia seeds and flaxseed?
hmm you were not paying attention. watch it again.😀
THANKS FOR YOUR GREAT CONTENT!!!!!
Great information. Thanks.
Thank you for this wonderful information Dr. R. God bless 🙏🏽
Thank you Dr Michael for sharing this beautiful information for us
Hi. I am currently taking triple therapy probiotic, it is helping I think? Bowels moving slightly better. Brain fog slightly better, but bloating still.
Doctor I think you are the proper person to ask this question. Does all this fiber in whole foods damage an inflamed gut?
Good question🎉
I am starting with the Low Fodmap program (standard) and a probiotic. I am going to commit to this for two weeks. My main issue is bloating.
Hey I am just seeing this. Just curious how is it going with the probiotic? An did you implement the Fodmap diet?
You're right, not all foods sit well with everyone. I for one don't do well with chia seeds. It literelly hurts and feels like a rock in my stomach.
Have you tried soaking them first? Or adding to a smoothie and leaving overnight? I find this help digestion of chia
Great informative presentation!
Great info but every video I would start with leaky gut symptoms, for the general pwrson only understands symptoms instead of the term leaky gut.
Very good advice. Thanks for sharing g.
This was greatly helpful to me.
So happy to hear that. Thanks for watching and commenting too :)
Fantastic vidio.helped me sooo much
Thank you so much for this incredibly valuable information!!! 💙💙💙💙
awesome info!
Nuts and seeds also contain a lot of polylipids and or high of omega 6 inflammatory! And nuts usually are not good tolerated! 😀
Soak nuts and seeds over night before eating
concise excellent info thanks 🙏
Very informative, thank you!
hello sir ,iam from India, thankyou for giving wonderful information to us, i have one major doubt is raised in my mind ,'is curd is suppose to be consume ?, iam suffering from psoriasis ?
Great video! Thank you!
I ate dark chocolate during sibo only for one weak and it caused me rosacea out break due to histamine intolerance
Great video! Everything explained so simply! Thanks
I'm so glad you thought so! :)
Doesn't turmeric have high oxalates? idk if thats good
was wondering the same
@@OGAestheticsDepends on the person. Oxalates do not affect me or aggravate my issues (motility issues for a decade and bouts of IMO; only this past year getting better as I learned "not good" and "good" applied broadly is a guidelines, not a rule that applies to each individual).
@@GibranCamus-kr2dc i guess u can eat spinach and cook it to death f ex. But idk. I just avoid them all easier that way. Meat fruit organs and honey here. So damn noce diet no innflamation
@@OGAestheticsPeople slam everything now! Live on air then people 😂 These are natural toxins our bodies need maybe to balance things . Toxins are common in the animal world too
It has a lot of oxalates but also all berries and chocolate
Dr. You seem to make much sense.
I have an autoimmune disorder.
Thank you Doctor for all your knowledge.
Yes thank you🎉 Information I didn't have
Thank you for your informative channel. I appreciate how you back up your information with the results from patient studies. The way you break things down is really helpful in my notetaking and the study findings reassuring of specific dietary change effectiveness.
Thanks for helping me
AIP, low fodmap, low histamines/salicylate/oxalate, I am very confused.
Try "Gutsi" probiotic. It is the only one I can tolerate, and I have mcas, pots, and histamine intolerance
Managing leaky gut and sensitivities, especially with MCAS and histamine intolerance, can indeed be complex. Given your situation, here are a few recommendations:
Probiotic Suppositories: These can be a good option when oral probiotics are difficult to tolerate.
Women can have it and not even know. .I'm now on antiviral and no more symptoms.. best for everyone to get testes for latent viruses that reactivate and cause symptoms.
@@Themostmercifulrabb yes I agree. I run a GI-MAP test for my clients that tests for the DNA of virus/bacteria/parasite etc.. it’s very comprehensive- the best I have seen. I’m so glad you’re feeling better.
Does cancer feed on glutamine? And also glucose? Maybe best not to mess with the glutamine balance?
I think these questions are too broad to be accurately answered
@@DrRuscioDC the question of glucose and glutamine as a food supply for cancer is not to broad to answer check the research from Thomas Seyfried of the Boston school of medicine
I've been looking up soo many low FODMAP video's
Your's is straight forward with no magic bullet👍🏼
Meaning realistic.
Giving options for foodies and non. I want to do a 3 day solid good fast.. as I commented below I would buy your powder but some ingredient are questionable for my system so I have reservation.
At this point I would drink unflavored no sugar taste drinks if it would kick start the healing process/journey. Anyone know of any like that?
What about oxilates and histamines high in foods too 😩 its so hard
Don't give up.. you will find the answer I pray.
I suffer histamine problems too
Thanks for the heads up. I made BB for a year and stoped and felt better in ways. Even sauerkraut.
Moderation is important.
Not to used in excess quantity that is suggested can use 1 teaspoon for curry for ten people
Thank you very much from the Netherlands
Is that still okay?
if youe psyche is fine, you are fine. IMO
your
also have a steak now and then
Do you take any medicine like I do Mesacol
Great advice😀! Thank you for the info and reminders. I’ve had ibs since I was exposed to low level carbon monoxide, 6 years ago. Had to have multiple funding polyps removed and am sensitive to everything I put in my mouth now.
Fundic polyps not funding.
Thank you sir
I brought L-glutamine, but I get diarrhea to some extent after eating just 3gram.
I don't understand u suggest low food that feeding bacteria and what about the suggestion of kefir and kimchi? Ls anyone if you could help
Kiefer populates not a food for bacterium I was told.
I am so sick of all the doctors giving their "expertise" on this topic and arguing with each other. When is the professional unprofessional? If they all differ so much? What are people to do or believe, you all want to sell a product. This is enough to make people crazy, STRESSED and much worse!
It’s important to listen to your body as there are some “health” foods could be a threat in the body.
What was he trying to sell? I’m lost as to what you are complaining about.
Amen, to that, proof is in the pudding, went from 300lbs to 167lbs. n counting Didn't happen overnite. You have to reverse your eating habits, to healthier options. They all have good advice, but you have to be your own guinea pig, and find what works for you.😉🇺🇸

I have psoriasis arthritis. Pain

I avoid nightshades with my arthritis
Thank you,God bless
Thank you 🙏🏼
Can you recommend a dark chocolate that doesn’t contain any heavy metals in it? Thanks so much!
❤ very informative vedio
Thanks!
I wouldn’t eat to much chicken either because of th which polylipid (omega 6) cause it’s inflammatory
I don’t like the taste of turmeric. What are the other options?
can u mix dark chocolate and beirres together and make it
smoothie? thanks
Yes bone borth is FULL of histamines. Search it. If u have a prob with them u should really avoid it
Agree here. Tried sauerkraut and it kept me up all night and breathing laboriously trying to sleep. Horrible shit.
Additionally, supplementing quercetin inhibits histamine.
Isn't turmeric high in oxalates?
May you please clarify: someone with leaky gut problem is it beneficial or can it cause damage if supplementing with probiotics and prebiotics?
We have a video on supplements for leaky gut :
For me what helped was reducing vegetables and fibre, and eating a carnivore style diet. The more fibre I eat the more constipated I seem to get.
Ive read that a small amt of organic castor oil will help
U may start doing yoga which triger the intestines for good motality
Thank you all for the advice. I been trying a lot but I think I need to be more consistent in certain things but a complete bowel movement seems like a dream these days
I have the exact same issue but I found that eating gluten free oats with half teaspoon of chia seeds soaked in dairy free milk for a few hours or over night consumed with blueberries gave me a proper empty bowel movement.
Don't eat chia seeds raw, ensure they are soaked so they expand, warm up the oats and consume. Taste great too
