I've driven my Sorento now for about 2 years, sure some really small problems but when it come to the pros, that 4x4 with low range have saved other people multiple times. I have never gotten stuck and i've been draging other cars around like nothing in really bad conditions
Just hit 130k, only issues are that the alternator went out around 70k, the transmission went into limp mode once around 95k necessitating a transmission fluid change, and the rear door actuators died around 109k miles and I'll have to rip out the door handles so I can open those doors and replace them. What didn't seem to be mentioned in the video are that the engine chain uses plastic guides that can disintegrate if the oil isn't changed, and some vehicles had issues with their rear driveshafts. Changing the oil and crawling under and trying to jig the RDS with your hand are easy to do though. Besides those, changing the oil regularly and running purple fuel injector cleaner and seems to working well.
Owned from 2006 till date here in Africa, best SUV owned so far, just recently started having gear shift issues, I just parked it. I will look into it soon.
I bought one of them in 2017, used with a 3.8-liter petrol engine, and it is a powerful car, but the maintenance of the engine is somewhat complicated. For example, when you replace the spark plugs, you need to open parts of the engine, in addition to the relatively high fuel consumption.
The most powerful and best SUV.. I bought it in February 2013 and it is still with me to this day.. There are no issues .. I love my Sorento and will not sell it forever even if I buy another new car. ❤🚙❤
I bought a brand new 2009 Kia Sorento 2.5 CRDI back in 2009 and after 15 years still going strong. Very satisfied with my Sorento. Presently it only has 125,000 kilometers.
My experience: sorento mk2 : turbo replaced twice, transmission failure Mk1: EGR - removed after fault, turbo went off balance at 180000km , refurbished and retuned - never been better
The best 2006 kia sorrento tdi manual, she didnt let me doun whit her powerful engine and awd capability, I bought it in 2018-2020 I think and I drove her so much and the only repairs I had to do was to take doun the fwd power train, change the alternator, some random leaky air tube, and after 4 years for driving Bach whell drive I reinstalled a good power train for the awd and now it rips
Hello, I have a problem with a Kia Sorento 2.5crdi 140 hp with a manual transmission, suddenly the two green lights for blocking and 4WD came on and now nothing works from the button and the blocking, I tried with another button and computer for the distribution and relay for the front differential nothing happens, I try the transmission motor through the socket, it works immediately, it engages the front cardan, and this happened when it was driven on the highway without turning on from the button, the lights came on and since then nothing works, but before everything worked, if anyone can help me i would be very grateful.
Found out the hard (expensive) way, in the 2.5L CrDi version, you need to replace the copper injector washers every 40,000km. If you don't soot can get into the oil, forming a sludge that will block the oil pickup in the sump and eventually lead to spun bearings or broken con rods etc. Two excellent supporting mods if you plan to run these offroad are 1. an audible temperature alarm not just a light or gauge, and an oil pressure gauge to make sure oil is flowing freely. Do that before you do a two inch lift. trust me.
I brought one in August 2018 2:37 a.m. used it with a birthday mode. Somewhat my Kia Sorento opened a birthday present for me and then gave to me and I was like man I was so happy desperate times for me I used to be happy for everyday it used to be a squiggly day for me and my Kia Sorento. It used to be a birthday for me but now since I'm 11 I can be a big kid now
R: I used to have a birthday present somewhere in my house but I still got it oh and by the way it's going to storm here at my house and my son made a rainbow chocolate cake and I used to see my son at Singapore since now my son is here at my house he can do whatever he can do but my sister is traveling all the way here in Africa haha desperate times for me and my son. And before I get done replying me and my son are traveling to South Africa Hotel and it is tomorrow and I can't take the way my mom my dad treating me and my son I don't always ripped pages from my book but I always just dance and keep going

these cars are over 20 Y.O now. Weak points: rust. they get eaten up by rust. The rear side of the car is what is going to die on you. Engines are rough but robust. 3.3 V6 took the place of 3.5V5. much more powerful, less thirsty, but aging badly due to direct injection. Engine failure is common.
I have an '05 Sorento LX 35.L 2wd auto. This thing has been a nightmare. I know some folks who had to have engines replaced a few times. The ECM failed, the Etac failed twice, the starter, alternator, heater core of course plugs, wires and coils and the wires are major nightmare to route properly. The rear roof light went out a few years and can not locate the so called "diode". The clock has died. Working on one is the most irritating nightmare you can think of. These things are not meant to last at all.
Mine now has 200 000 miles on it. It's been quite reliable for me considering the high mileage. Here in Finland many of these have over 250k miles on them, so I would't say that they don't last.
my current one in an 08 2.5L CrDi turbo part time 4x4 with low range. I just gave an engine rebuild for it's 333,000km birthday. I bought it at 290,000 and now I know exactly what needs to be changed and when. Didn't even know you could get the first gen as a 2wd.

Where is the relay for front differential located?my sorento cannot engaged to 4wd..front wheel won't turned
Here in the US, the most common point of failure is the rear diff...for the 1.5 gen (07-09). It must be made of powdered metal.
and the rear end needs to be raised 8 inches higher for proper fluid level...
what do you mean?@@box3976
