    Trevor horn - up there with phil spector, brian wilson and gamble & huff as one of the all time great producers. The 'wall of sound' he created on tracks like this (and others in the 80s) was phenomenal

    Trevor Horn in 1981... no Auto Tune, just a Fairlight, a pitchable Studer Multitrack Machine, Lexicon Reverb, Eventide and an SSL Console.... that's what is music production is all about... a genius !!!

    • @myblueextremes1526
      @myblueextremes1526 2 роки тому +5

      Haha, you're right, no auto tune. Just the most expensive and capable sampler/sequencer available at the time, a pro studio level tape machine, the highest of high end reverb and harmoniser of the time and a super expensive desk made in Oxford. Not to take anything away from Horn but you make it sound like Horn was using really primitive equipment. 😀

      @@LeighRichards27 Name calling aside, I think you misread the tone of my post. It was tongue in cheek. The original poster made a comment about how the song was 'just made with...' and then mentions (arguably) every piece of state of the art equipment that was available at the time. The fairlight in itself cost £30,000 for the 1982 version. It was just a fun comment about the technology that was available at the time. As I said, not to take nothing away from Trevor Horn as he did some amazing work with what was available, in the same way people today use the technology of today. Like it or not, Auto Tune included.

    Never heard the song in Canada in the 80's. It's very good, the female singer is absolutely stunning.

    Back in early 80s went out with a girl who looked like Thezera Bazar she worshipped Dollar I remember she played their records continuously she even got me to sing David van Day parts .... 40 years later still remember those innocent times one song I did think was good was "Videoteque" 😎✌️.

    Dollar had some great songs in the 80s! Wish they would do a reunion tour! And get Trevor Horn on bass!

    I think, for me, this rates as the most under-rated track of 1982. (And there were plenty vying for that title. But this one wins.)

    Haven't heard this for 40 years although it's still there in my head. Listening again, I was a really good song. I'm averse to pop music, especially the mediocre stuff filling the charts now, but when done well it's great.

    Whoever put this together did a fantastic job. Not sure if this song has an actual official pop music video but this I love from Top of the Pops. Suits the song to a T.

      It doesn't have an official music video. It's a typically excellent Top of the Pops editing job from the time.

    I remember this song playing in the English Service of Radio Luxembourg and hearing it from Spain during the 80s ... nice first all-European broadcasting station and memories ... BTW I was able to find the single vinyl record in the Netherlands just in 1984, as other played song: "Clouds across the moon" by RAH Band ... thanks for posting this.

    This is THE track that inspired Martin Fry and his ABC bandmates to lobby for Trevor Horn in the creation of their debut that would become the classic "Lexicon of Love."
