We had great fun recoding this track with the legendary Trevor Horn... :)
The sheer volume of talent and brilliant music in the 70s and 80s didn’t always leave room for everyone to get the full recognition they truly deserved so people made their own lists of faves. Mine always included Dollar even though I was also into punk 😀
Of course NOW in this vapid music wasteland of techno hell computers and R2D2 communication phone messages we must surely all be able to appreciate how musically spoilt we all were in the past.
Dollar were a GREAT GREAT pop duo with a ton of good songs and Hand Held in Black in Black, Mirror Mirror and Who Were You With in the Moonlight remain to this day some of the really GREAT tracks of the early 80s and late 70s.
I love this song it one of my favourite song of Dollar
loved dollar up beat tunes
Its scary 4 some reason
but you get out of the weird shop
She looks absolutely stunning in this video 😍
She's trying to complete with David, to be fair.
@@liverush24 she's not ugly like he is.
She always looks stunning ❤
@@bp6329he was anything but ugly , both stunning
I agree with you Dean, Thereza Bazar of Dollar was a stunner i had a crush on her in the 1980s. I have always been a fan of them both. Best wishes from another Dean here.
Another dollar classic from an era we unfortunately will not see again
Hang onto those records, cd's, cassettes, downloads.......
One of the best pop records ever. Look at the chart history of its time on the chart. The public could not get enough of this gem in December 1981
compared to what ? Joe Dolce
I bought it when I was 9. Still love it at 51.

That kind of comparison and competition.
Joe was early 1981 by late 1981 in the uk, production technique by producers and artists changed greatly as technology musically progressed to A significantly better state audibly, the end of 81 shook of the 70's, so polished pop made with the aid of new computer and electronic and newer digital and analogue tech really made an impact by dec 81.
Dollar were not charting against joe dolces jan 81 hit ultravox's Vienna was and john lennonbs woman were.Mid to late
1981 was a time of astounding chanbe you'd never have heard a track like dollars mirror mirror with that level of production until late summer onwards it was all a work in progress, that song used the fairlight IIx upgrade the xylaphone sample bass guitar pluck sample and some thereza vocals leading to the reverse reverb effect were al sampling techniques, the fairlight first appeard summer of 79 but the ppg wave used on mirror mirror only appeared late september 1981 after its release it features on other dollar songs.
Dollar had an enormous amount of competition, mirror mirror charted for an amazing 17 weeks selling over a million copies in spread out sales during yhag period.
It was a Remarkable sparkly piece of music that deserved the success it had.
Joe dolce on the other hand did'nt deserve the success early that yr because ye was poor novelty crap with NO style dollar did have style in spades it has to said.
So thats ehat it was compared to, the changing times at that time.
@@leesusan9073 .You get what I mean all killers and no fillers , a pedigree time for pop music.
@leesusan9073 you are so right there too.
Thanks Trevor Horn for producing some of the best music ever made, he made so many bands sound amazing.
2:15 when her vocal starts to come in is so cute, and the harmony when David comes back in. I love this stuff.
A great track even this sounds better than alot of today's crap music
couldn't agree more.
Just So So good to hear 80s music again
Remember having this song recorded on my tape recorder! Oh, how life has changed. Still a lovely song to listen to though 🙂
I love dollar songs I was a teenager in the 80s they were a brilliant duo !! 💖💖💖💖💖💖
Hi "Lee A" i totally agree with you as i have always been a fan of there's since the late 1970s. All of there 80s singles were fantastic. I wrote a short biography of David Van Day And Thereza Bazar of Dollar fame above, that you just might want to have a read of if your interested, either way best wishes to you here from, Dean.
They also had hits in the 70's as well after leaving Guys N Dolls!
This is just ruddy fabulous! Thereza looking stunning in that gold dress.
Classic Trevor Horn production, fricking superb. Sounds space-aged, even 40 years on.
Bring them back both gorgeous and outstanding
So Christmasy, brilliant song.
this song still sounds fresh
Brings back memories...
So does a whack on the head. 😂
Brings back the wonderful past
One of my alltime favourite tracks of the eighties ❤❤ love it!!
I love this song since I was a kid!!!!
Me too, i i have always loved Dollar and have been a fan of them since the late 1970s. Best wishes and love from Dean X.
Trevor Horn is ingrained throughout this. You can imagine Buggles doing it.
My first ever single! Good memories
Just such a great song.
this song brings some sort of joy even here in 2022
They were so brilliant and don’t get enough credit. Should be as popular as ABC
Love this song now I'm 48 brilliant 💓💓
I bet you did, it's such a joyous song, reminds me of being a carefree teen and having the best time, you two brought so much joy, thank you ❤️
Sheer Pop perfection.
Finally I found It!
Loved dollar back then
I was11❤when this was out songs to make u happy thats what the world needsxx
A great tune 🙂
Luv this song ..brings back great memories
this mug claims to have slept with a lot of women when he in fact means men, he's never touched a woman in his life.
Brilliant!
My first music crush.....I was only 9 when this came out
One of my all time favorites! TH bass and overall production is top shelf.
This is classic Dollar. I think, in an interview, Thereza was saying she had an accident with the glass or something while jumping out that window. I would have thought jumping out like that in high heels would have been painful enough. What on earth was the director thinking? They could have at least got stunts people to do that.
It was just before Xmas 1981, a very cold Bedfordshire and I was still at school, I remember dreaming about Theraze and having a poster of her on my bedroom wall ❤😂😂 xx
2:40 love the look on Thereza’s face.😮Makes me melt all over the floor! 🤤😍😍
She is soo beautiful in this video
Just thinking the same ❤
Sublime.
Classic.
Bucks Fizz.
she's very beautiful. Loved their songs.
Great video of this great song
One of my favourites back in the happy 80's. I miss the days back then. The world of today is so fucked up.
I feel exactly the same way
Fucked UP Is an Understatement 🤨

Awoke with this song in my head
I was 12 when this came out in Australia they were pure pop.
My perfect song
What a great pop song abd cute video
What a smashing video, the Pinocchio like old man creating magic alive Dollar dolls (doll-ar lol), and such a great, lush and slightly dreamscape song. Only thing they must have been a wee bit freezing in them outfits in the snow scene (yes I know it was fake lol).
Great looking band, as a fellow blonde, I'll always champion my other blondsters lol.
That bloke been in soooo many music videos, at this moment forgot his name!
I love this song i was only 13 at that time but im still love it.
🌠M m,how impressive!! Now i will be know ,how do kids!! Very good job,no words!! Thank you for amazing mood!!💫

Real Dope
Use to ❤their music, FANTASTIC! Where are they now ? X
They're toured last year. But The guys stepped back for now at least. And has been replaced. Both In late 60s now. But she can still sing. And has an excellent spirit still.
Dollar r fun, life, colour. MAGIC*
❤❤❤❤
Dollar made some great music especially some of their under rated songs like second time around,I got yr no wrong, and guessing games great pop songs and we walked in love should have been a massive hit too
Hi Liz, I have always been a fan of them both. I don't think they ever did a bad song. Best wishes, Dean X
Cool
Such beautiful people x
She reminds me of Adriana Xenides beautiful television personality in Australia.
Been trying to see an HD video since 2013.. Thank you.
Nice hair Dave.
I have always been a fan of them both for well over 40 years. So here's some background info on them that you may, or may not know. Dollar was a terrific duo consisting of David Van Day and Thereza Bazar who met at just 17. They auditioned for the 1970s band "Guys 'N' Dolls" in 1974 and were and part of the original line up. The band had two UK Top 10 chart singles with "There's A Whole Lot Of Loving" as well as a cover of Dusty Springfield's "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me", however David and Thereza both left the band to form Dollar by which time they had both become romantically involved in the late 70s. The duo had chart singles within the UK Top 20 with "Shooting Star" and "Who Were You With in the Moonlight?" and the ballad "Love's Gotta Hold On Me" sung by the lovely Thereza. Then In 1981, Thereza Bazar approached record producer Trevor Horn (of Buggles fame), whom she had met during her days in Guys 'n' Dolls, and asked if he would work with them. He agreed, and produced their 1981 and 1982 material. Trevor Horn's production work gave Dollar a more distinctive sound, and their four Horn-produced singles represented the high point in the band's career. It gave them another two Top 10 singles ("Mirror Mirror" and "Give Me Back My Heart") and two more Top 20 hits ("Videotheque" and "Hand Held in Black and White"). All four singles appeared on the duo's third album The Dollar Album, released in October 1982.
Van Day was an absolute arse, forcing Bucks Fizz to go to court over name rights.
One tiny nugget you missed: Thereza is actually Canadian. x
First heard this as a five year old on a cassete my parents bought me called the Minipops.
I always loved dollar
this mug is still a virgin, when he claims to have slept with a lot of women, it's all bullshit, he likes the men.
Well ,one of them!
Great music, amazing singer and great video !
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
1:56 - useful demonstration of the heimlich manoeuvre.
But seriously - always loved this single.
more 80's genius.
I think that bearded actor was in ABC's Look of Love video as well. Since Trevor Horn produced both, it makes sense.
Yes like the female dancer Perri Lister she was in Sparks,Kenny Everett and Billy Idol videos
The best-sounding song of 1981, thanks to Trevor Horn's production.
First entered the UK Singles Chart at No.67 week ending 14th November 1981.
No.9 through Christmas 1981.
Peaked at No.4 week ending 16th January 1982.
The 80s... the worst decade of music until the 2010s.
@@gabbycattell9030 describes you.
Not even Japanese Boy Andy? I love them both, but the production on this is exceptional! Hard to choose 😃
2010 the era of the vidiot.....no motivation, no inspiration or creativity. The 80's were so full of talent. song writing that could bring tears to your eyes on one track and have you dancing and singing along on the next. The only down side to 80's music is the unrecognized musical geniuses. All the musicians and kick ass songs that didn't get the praise they deserved.
But, as much as I dislike the hi tech world. and as much as I miss dropping a needle onto a vinyl album hearing the pops and crackles. I do love that virtually any song can be found from any era. And can be played back for any and all ages to experience the tunes past generations grew up listening to. Personally it is music that brings back the very best memories I have. There seems to be a song attached to every new love and one that soothes a broken heart when a relationship ended. Music is most definitely the common denominator that brings together people from every part of the world. So hit play and sing, dance and feel the love!
Great video
Somehow, I imagine this being a Japanese pop song of it's time
Thereza Bazar absolutely stunning
Life is all memory
Brilliant..Theresa bazar.....phwoar🥰
I like the bit wen she flip her head back then we hair falls forward great couler hair and hair style tht bit wen they bash threw the window is amazing how they did tht that's camera tricks I live the snow and beat clock in ds it was in top of the pops at the time it wasn't a number one hit though though it pulled threw the charts the part wen they go back on mirror the effects r super I wouldn't of mind taken her out Teresa at tht time she a giggly type amd ready fr it her anytime
You can tell the video was from 1981 as it shows someone leaping in slow motion.
# 1 in the US singles chart .....
Not according to Wikipedia.
It failed to chart sadly, but Shooting Star did chart
Trevor Horn's autobiography brought me here.
My favourite Dollar track except for Oh L'amour
She looks like she's going to land so awkwardly jumping through that window!
Only realised recently that the chorus is Mirror Mirror Mon Amour …. I don’t know what I was singing all these years
❤️🥃
Faf you helped
turn the game after half time....should start next week v ABs
She was and still is the sexiest woman on earth.
