  • Here is the update for March 2024. Spring is kicking off so warmer temperatures are coming. The intermediates will love it but maybe not so much the highlands!

    Also - totally realized, as I'm taking notes for my own nepenthes wishlist, you have a small fortune in nepenthes! Such an impressive collection!

    Any recommendations for a box? Looking to do a desktop set up and have about 12inx12inx12in of space for a couple of plants.

      With something that small, maybe go for some sundews and mexican butterworts. You could go for Nepenthes but youd have to get very small plants which dont look as great and will end up outgrowing it very quickly.

    You have a great set up! I'm just starting out. I couldn't catch the names of those giant purple pitchers from 7 to 8 minutes. and then in a different video you mentioned you feed a pellet called osmasomething.... wouldn't an insect be better? but still though, what rate and a how much (half or whole pellet?) would I feed my plant and into all pitchers or just one? Thank you for sharing your set up.

      Those two are from Sarracenia Northwest:
      Nepenthes (ventricosa x sibuyanensis) x carunculata
      Nepenthes spectabilis x (lowii x ventricosa)
      As for feeding them osmocote/nutricote pellets, the size and quantity varies on the size of your plant. You could feed your plant bugs, but for my purposes its easier to just toss a pellet in once a month as it provides the needed nitrogen. Some bugs may not be as rich in nitrogen as others. I have made a video discussing this topic and hopefully it helps clarify how much and how often. ua-cam.com/video/3M61VcQhpS8/v-deo.html

    Do you put ro or distilled in your fogger?

    • @IndoorCarnivores
      @IndoorCarnivores  3 місяці тому

      I use RO but distilled would probably work better cause it has no minerals.

    Are you worried about your inermis outgrowing your setup?

    • @IndoorCarnivores
      @IndoorCarnivores  2 місяці тому

      Not really. Its been getting the night time temperature drops that it likes and more consistent day time highs of 77-79F which is perfect for highlanders. Also it has higher humidity than the tank. Mid to late summer may be an issue regarding day time highs but the greenhouse as a hatch that opens at 77 to regulate the temperature.
