How often do you clean the defogger? Asking because the one I bought says to clean it every 2-3 days which seems like a lot. I'm wondering if animals are more sensitive to contamination than plants.
R.I.P peter 😢
Hey there any plants you want to trade off?
May I know what is your enclosure size?
Stop saying anywayzzz will you FFS!
Have you tasted the agitate? Don’t know if I pronounce that right
Yes, it’s sweet Exudate
@@IndoorCarnivores what does it taste like?
@@gamingandgardening7729very interesting 2 of my plants make it super sweet but a little dull
Love the way you explain it, to the point and all. What’s your Ig? I’ve previously grown some lowland Neps in horrible Nevada conditions but am now In lovely Washington state area allowing my access to highland conditions!
IG: indoor.carnivores Good luck on your growing journey!
How do you go about getting temp drops in the highland terrarium?
I am fortunate enough that 9 months out of the year I can just open my window at night and it cools down to 55-60
Let’s goooo!!!! Everything looks great so amazing!
Your pitchers are beautiful.

The Drosera needs to be sitting in water. Otherwise amazing plants !
Humidity is high enough its not really an issue if i give it frequent watering
Would you be willing to sell a cutting of the eymae?
Yes, but that wont be for another few months. Rooted or unrooted cuttings? Rooted will be a year out most likely
I’d be happy with unrooted, do you sell on eBay or Instagram? I wanna make sure I don’t miss your listing when you decide to chop it!
@@dylan8415 Probably eBay when I do. I don’t have one setup just yet. I’ll be sure to update you once I do!
Cephalotus should be outside, doesn't like heat at all, i grow them outside in canada
Everyone grows Cephs differently. I live in an almost identical Mediterranean climate as their native habitat. I could grow them outside or I could grow them in my highland greenhouse. Keep in mind the highland greenhouse will rarely hit 80F and also maintain high humidity. The sun is much more intense down here in California compared to Canada because we are much close to the equator so what works for you won’t necessarily work for me which is why I have them in a shaded greenhouse or else they would be cooked. I’ve tried.
Awesome can you do a video of a basic set up for a beginner

AW Clone 1 - hamata x edwardsiana
Love these updates
Thank you!
Would love to see the greenhouse !!!!
Definitely would like to see the greenhouse.
Are you worried about your inermis outgrowing your setup?
Not really. Its been getting the night time temperature drops that it likes and more consistent day time highs of 77-79F which is perfect for highlanders. Also it has higher humidity than the tank. Mid to late summer may be an issue regarding day time highs but the greenhouse as a hatch that opens at 77 to regulate the temperature.
🦉❤
Nice jamban from Todd. His plants are great. You'll like growing it out.
Thanks! I look forward to it!
beautiful
How do you cool it down?
Luckily, i can open my window at night and the night time lows are around 55F so it naturally cools off.
How do you cool it down if it gets too hot during the day?
@@sethforeman6359 you could add some fans for ventilation which would cool it down
@@sethforeman6359 Rarely gets 85F in the day for me. For cooling a room you could use evaporative cooling which is ideal in less humid climates or AC which works in all climates.
@@IndoorCarnivores but air conditioning units bring down humidity levels
Awesome stuff, carnivorous plants are so fascinating. Lots of ways you can go about raising and caring for Nepenthes I suppose. This setup looks great if you don’t need to worry about temperature that much. For my own future setup I’ll probably have to include space heating of some kind even indoors as our house can ambiently dip down decently below room temperature in the harsh Canadian winter months. Keep up the updates and tutorials and such! Great work.
You should take a look at @WindowsillNepenthes channel. I believe he is based in Manitoba and has a successfully grown a very large collection of nepenthes on his window!
@IndoorCarnivores Amazing thanks for the recommendation, I'm trying to soak up all the information strategies and so forth for my attempt at it. I actually just got my first Nepenthes today which was a shock, was not expecting to find one but I also had never been to this greenhouse. Picked it and a Cape Sundew up. I'll be trying to get a reptile fogger as soon as possible, we had glass reptile enclosure not being used that I've already semi turned into a higher humidity environment for them but a fogger will really be that extra step I hope. Anyways I'm really excited to have one now and hopefully I can scrounge up an even better set up as time goes on for them. I'll definitely check out that channel and I've subbed here and will be watching your progress/ideas/methods for Nepenthes. Good day to you!
What’s the proper way to water nepenthes especially when you have a lot of them. I notice you have them sitting on egg crates I think that’s what you call them. Do you have them sit in just a little bit of water and let the water evaporate so you don’t cause root rot? I water my nepenthes daily, spraying the soil. I guess my question is how do people water their nepenthes because I’m also very careful not to get any water into the pitchers so I don’t dilute the digestive enzymes in the pitchers.
The best rule of thumb is to always keep the soil damp to the touch but not waterlogged or dry. They cant sit in water like the north American plants can; if they do that will cause root rot. When I feel a pot getting a little dry, then I will top water until I see water pour out the bottom of the pot. The egg crates help form a barrier between the water and pots so they don't end up sitting in water if I do need to water a lot. The water in the egg crates will evaporate and help bump the relative humidity so its a win win.
Can I add nutricote ? Would that be the same thing as osmocote ?
How do you cool it down?
HI, WHAT OSMACOTE PELLET FERTILISER DO YOU USE??? I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE UREA IN THE PELLETS, HAVE YOU HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT THAT?? TOO MUCH UREA I HEARD WAS NOT GOOD. LET ME KNOW PLEASE. KINDEST REGARDS AND BLESSINGS, ANNETTE QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA.
I use Osmocote flowers and vegetables. They work great on my sundew and pitcher plants.
Can you answer me a question
Yes, whats your question
@@IndoorCarnivores sir my question is I also have Nepenthis and nervous for it can you see that
I noticed you don’t use any fans in your set up. No mold issues? Were your grow lights expensive ?
No, it has an open top so airflow is already really good. Grow lights were on the expensive end around $80. I have them linked in the description
Hi! What's the exact name of the nep that has the dark maroon pitchers? I didn't quite catch all the crosses!
I believe you're talking about the one at 8:50? If so that one is a Nepenthes (ventricosa x sibuyanensis) x carunculata. Sarracenia northwest has them from sale every so often. www.growcarnivorousplants.com/nepenthes-ventricosa-sibuyanensis-caranculata/
@@IndoorCarnivores thank you so much! I'll watch for this one to come back in stock!

Also - totally realized, as I'm taking notes for my own nepenthes wishlist, you have a small fortune in nepenthes! Such an impressive collection!
Haha yes thank you! I should probably compile a list of all the ones i have
"so don't do that" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 your collection is beautiful and inspiring!!! love it!
I have 8 in a 20gal aquarium 😅 most are xs in size with like 3 medium and large. All of them are intermediate besides 2 of them. One is a rajah x veitchii which im hoping does well. Great video 👍
Thank you! Im sure yours will grow well and possibly outgrow it within the next year haha
Do you put ro or distilled in your fogger?
I use RO but distilled would probably work better cause it has no minerals.
@@IndoorCarnivores you don't mind me asking what type of fogger?
@@MrFlowrider123 this one a.co/d/0nfWuwK
Really appreciate you breaking that down. Looks really complicated when looking at it briefly, but the explanations help tremendously!
Thank you! Glad to hear it has helped!
What is your actual setup, is it just a fish tank with lights up top? Im trying to build my own in the near future

Such a beautiful collection 💚💚💚
Any recommendations for a box? Looking to do a desktop set up and have about 12inx12inx12in of space for a couple of plants.
With something that small, maybe go for some sundews and mexican butterworts. You could go for Nepenthes but youd have to get very small plants which dont look as great and will end up outgrowing it very quickly.
Awesome plants and great video love the setup would be cool to see yoy get a greenhouse and watch them take off and vine and flower keep up the great work
very nice ! thanks for the update !
You have a great set up! I'm just starting out. I couldn't catch the names of those giant purple pitchers from 7 to 8 minutes. and then in a different video you mentioned you feed a pellet called osmasomething.... wouldn't an insect be better? but still though, what rate and a how much (half or whole pellet?) would I feed my plant and into all pitchers or just one? Thank you for sharing your set up.
Those two are from Sarracenia Northwest: Nepenthes (ventricosa x sibuyanensis) x carunculata Nepenthes spectabilis x (lowii x ventricosa) As for feeding them osmocote/nutricote pellets, the size and quantity varies on the size of your plant. You could feed your plant bugs, but for my purposes its easier to just toss a pellet in once a month as it provides the needed nitrogen. Some bugs may not be as rich in nitrogen as others. I have made a video discussing this topic and hopefully it helps clarify how much and how often. ua-cam.com/video/3M61VcQhpS8/v-deo.html
