    I have plenty of Veitchii hose mountains, pink veitchii, bario & veitchii highland x lowland.

      You can't beat them, I'm trying to find a good female bario to breed with, I've now flowered 4 different veitchii but they are all male.

    How often do you water your plants? Do you completely saturate the media let it dry out and then water like a week later? And are you careful not to get water into the pitchers so you don’t dilute the digestive fluid?

      I don't follow a set schedule as it depends on the weather as well as some plants dry out their pots faster then others, I give them a really good soak when I water and then let them almost dry out before watering again. I try and avoid filling the pitchers with water but it's not always possible.

    I picked up a $30 veitchii hybrid from a country town plant show and it has to be one of my favourite neps! Just waiting for spring for it to make some more pitchers for me. It currently has thrips on it which is a first for me with nepenthes. Have you ever had thrips issues with them?

    • @Eat-Me-Exotics
      @Eat-Me-Exotics  Рік тому +1

      Yeah they make great hybrids, if I tried to do a video on all my veitchii hybrids it would be an hour long at least 😅
      I haven't had thrips issue my self but heard they are a nightmare. If I see any damage to any of my plants that I suspect is pest I will spray down everything in the area just to be safe and watch closely for any new damage.

    Hello. I have a seedling of N. Veitchii candy red x candy red and it has 3 small pitchers now but none of them has stripes. Is it possible that there are stripes in next pitchers, or my seedling is a "no stripes" clone although both parents are candy red? Thanks a lot, I love your work!

      There is a good chance the next pitchers will have stripes but with seed grown plants there is never any guarantees of what they will look like.

    Hey weird question but when you see Veitchii for sale they generally sit around $150 for rather small plants. Are they priced like this for any particular reason? Like slow growth rate, hard to get, hard to germinate seeds, etc etc?

    • @Eat-Me-Exotics
      @Eat-Me-Exotics  6 місяців тому +1

      It's a mix of reasons, fairly slow growth rates, highly sort after by everyone and also very hard to source nice male and female pairing. Also not the easiest to get them big enough to flower.

    Where do you get your veitchii? I've only seen them for sale on eBay, Exotica and overseas!

      I've bought from exotica, BE suppliers, private sellers and a few I've grown from seed.
      I will hopefully be able to make them abit more available here in the next couple of years.

    Where do u get ur coco chips from? Do they come in a compressed block?

      I order it from enfield pet and garden supplies, generally I go with the fine grade one but some bigger pots (300mm+) I've got a chunkier one.
      In my repotting video I touch on how to prepare it for use.
