Hello everyone Nini here, just to clear a few misconceptions,
    1. I meant 11 pounds even at that it was an exaggeration to land at the point that some people were born fat and it stays with them for life
    2. When you say fat is a choice who is actually making that choice, the individual or their finances or environment, where a plate of rice cost 2000 naira and 3 pieces of apples cost 2500, please what choice do you think will be made in that instance.
To Reiterate most of what I said in this video is an exaggeration, hypothetical and alleged.
Let’s remember to always be kind and spread love to one another as you don’t know what might be someone’s 13th reason.
Thank you for watching the video and a big thank you to cruise for having me on here.

Being skinny in Nigeria, is not a funny at all.
As a people or a society, culturally accepted attractive people are based off of how thick or fleshy(being descriptive) they are. There's this stigma that comes to being quite skinny, especially if you are approaching young adulthood, or already a full young adult. And let's face it, it's quite seeming to be worse when you're a woman. You're deemed unattractive(not hot) by the male populace, because you do not have a huge backframe/backside or big breasts. It does even come to situations where you are addressed as "flat" or looking like a "stick" for being on the skinny side, and it's always in a condescending context. As per, "you suppose be man, because how complete babe/woman no go get flesh? How woman no go get body na, you be man oh"... it's always not great to hear that.
Just to say, whether skinny or plus-sized, I really hope we all come to learn and appreciate our body and how we naturally are. We can do our best to be the better version of ourselves while not hating or killing our image.

As much as they are your employer you need to draw boundaries. Let them know that you find it demeaning when they make such references, and you don't appreciate talks about your body in ways that has nothing to do with your job. You did not create yourself and neither did he/she. Find a good way to say this via text or in-person. I say this bcos I've been in a similar situation, although not my direct employer but it was a senior male colleague and I cleared him straight up the 3rd time it happened. Mr.Mayowa is so real, and I like it. Being fat is definitely a choice, but a hard one. No matter the gene and hormonal imbalance, it all comes down to what you consume, the amount of calories your body needs vs the amount you consume, If you are in a deficit, you will definitely lose weight. So when the entrepreneur lady says, she's done all sort of exercise, and still hasn't gotten result, exercise is just like a tip of the iceberg, no matter how much you exercise, if you are still not in a calories deficit, you won't lose weight. Everybody burn a certain calories already at rest, so even without exercise, but with a deficit, you can still lose weight. And a lot of us consume x2 the amount of food we need, hence the reason why most people are overweight. And I understand that some people have health issues, but with a good lifestyle, you can avoid to be fat. And life is not fair, it will never be, some people have fast metabolism and good health, why others, the opposite, you that have the opposite have to put in x2 the work, that is life.

Even with calorie deficit, People with underlying health issues will still find it very hard/impossible to lose weight. That’s the point you and the pharmacist are missing. More reason why you shouldn’t generalize, Weightloss for people with severe hormonal/health conditions is way more than calorie deficit.

@@suleimanbashirat4323 Yeah it might be more than just a caloric deficit but that doesn't make it impossible, ultimately anyone can lose weight, some just have to put in more effort. I'm so glad this issue was brought to the table. Nigerians skinny shame alot. The funniest thing is most people i know that were skinny were always pressurised to add weight.
Due to low self esteem, most dont embrace their God given body, they add the weight then start looking for how to lose the weight(irony of life).
My older sister's friend used to be skinny while growing up, she's now married with kids and she looks very cute(confirm spec).
She said most guys that were skinny shaming her now wished their wives could at least work on their weight and be like her.
She wasnt their spec when she was skinny, but as time went on, she grew and became a spec and now they wish they had her.
In a nutshell, whatever body size you are, embrace it and be confident.

Firstly: I think skinny shaming is more worst than fat. Cause fat shaming comes with intent but skinny shaming, everyone does it without even knowing. Even skinny children are not spared. I remember as a child, my mum always wants me to wear one particular gown cause it big and long sleeves. Why? Cause it covers my body well and so people will stop accusing her of not feeding me well.
A fat baby is praised but a skinny one is side-looked or they start advising the mother on what to feed her baby.
Fat women have problems with fatness cause of what men says most times, but as a skinny woman , you are a target to both men and women.
In nursing school, my classmates fat enough to be mistaken for my mother told me, real men like flesh and not bone like me and I won’t find a real man. But she said it when I already loved myself enough to reply her “ I said “well I’m a woman to be kept and cherished not eaten like a meat as you describe yourself “ the audacity for someone who is just her early 20s yet look older than my mum to come for me like that.

Even amidst medical conditions, being fat is most at times a choice if not always.
If you don't want to be accountable for your actions or habits that's left for you.
I mean, most of us might have seen/watched documentary of people who weigh more than 6 of them combined but still decided to lose that weight nonetheless.

It can be in the way that some people can’t control. Not every fat person is fat by choice and some genuinely are born with significantly bigger mass than others. Notice how in some families, almost all members are overweight and in others almost all members are skinny. Simply saying being fat is a choice is like shaming fat people, saying that they chose prejudice just because they couldn’t close their mouth. But no one chooses prejudice just because they wanted an extra donut

@@rafaelandimande9036 A family where everyone is overweight is not genetic, it’s poor eating habits being inherited from parents. If your parents are fat because they don’t know how to eat healthy, their children are most likely to become or be fat since they will feed the food that made them fat to their children which will make them fat too. My mum and her sisters and my little sister are big, I was born big because my mum always drank malt like crazy so I gained weight in the womb and was fat all my childhood and early adulthood. When I became an adult and started making my own money, I stopped depending on my mother’s food. I started making healthier choices, intermittent fasting and increasing my physical activity (10k steps per day) and guess what? I lost 45kg! Went from 105 kg to 60kg and I’m only 162cm or 5’4!
There’s no such thing as a “fat” gene, a fat family is a result of bad food enabling amongst relatives which can be a difficult cycle to break, but not impossible. You really need to stop acting like fat isn’t changeable like height or skin color. Height and skin colour cannot be changed and are inherited, body fat can definitely be changed.

Why is it that you don't find fat people during war time or during starvation?
Honestly I experimented eating unhealthy foods sodas, doughnuts and all these fried fast foods for 2months and I increased from 75kg to 87kg.
During this time I was eating like 4-5x a day and eating cakes, sugary foods etc.
My face ballooned, I gained alot of abdominal fat.
The next thing I did was decide to lose that weight. I started an OMAD (One meal a day) diet eating only at 3-4pm. I totally cut out sugar, sodas, bread. There are a lot of things that contain sugar... Mayonnaise, ketchup etc.
I ate more meat and veges and less carbs (rice, yam, beans etc) ans started exercising early in the morning at home.
In 1month I lost all that weight and I'm now 76kg.
So to me it's possible if you want to be consistent in dieting and exercising.
It all comes down to what you put in your body and your activity level.
Sorry to say but a lot of fat people eat higher than the average person. Yeah they're people with medical conditions that cause them to gain weight but it's still linked to food, the fat doesn't just miraculously come from no where.

hii guys! just want to clarify something. 🤫
The word 'fat' in itself is obviously not a bad word. however, society has so much transformed the meaning of this word. that it doesn't just mean 'fat' but goes beyond. it just so happened that the 'extra meaning' society attatched to the word is demeaning. It therfore gives the perception that 'fat' is rude or demeaning. so, since we know this, it's best not to call people fat. you may see it as okay, but it's most likely that a vast majority of people, are going through a whole lot because of the word 'fat'.
    let's show love guys😝

Calling someone fat or skinny can be offensive(depending on how it is said),especially when its something you are insecure about. Like sombody saying "you have a big nose" it would be offensive to someone that is insecure about it but its descriptive. And sometimes these things are said in a very hurtful way that would increase ones insecurity. As people we just need to be careful when we speak about sensitive stuff (wether you are just decribing the person or not)

I have friends on the big side and I can say it is not "always" a choice to lose or gain weight. Yes, you can try your best and truly, it works for some people but there are others that try and some even do times 2 of the work and still their efforts prove futile. Hormonal imbalance is more common than people think and I'm glad people are starting to get enlightened that people are not just fat because they "eat too much". Mayowa made a lot of sense, definitely, one should try their best to keep fit and be consistent with it. Although, I feel he was comparing his own situation of inconsistency to that of people that may have other contributing factors like genetics, pcos, and so on. Being fat doesn't always equate to being unhealthy. One can be big and be healthy.

There was no diet I didn’t try. I was eating healthy for a whole year and working out every single day. Even 1kg I didn’t lose. The main thing that helped me lose weight was ozempic and other supplements . Im 22 now and thank God I’ve been able to maintain it so far naturally.

Exactly! They were given reasons like PCOS and insulin overload. But those diseases are a result of bad diet! PCOS or high insulin are not genetically inherited diseases. PCOS is hormonal imbalance which is caused by the excess intake of sugar! Same for high insulin! So it is a choice. Obese people are at high risk of many diseases like PCOS or diabetes. That woman with PCOS ate an unbalanced diet filled with sugar, gained weight and then developed PCOS. Her being born big is not genetics, it means her mother had a poor diet. This is return means the lady inherited her mother’s bad food choices since her mother is the one who fed her growing up. So imagine that lady eating excess amount of sugar since birth, by her teen years she would’ve already been diagnosed with PCOS!
On my maternal family side my grandfather died of diabetes, some uncles and aunties have diabetes and even my mother. Does that mean it’s genetic? No! My grandfather was a malt addict while my mother and her sisters are Coca Cola addicts (I kid you not she drinks more Coca Cola than water o!😂😂) and on top of that my mother and her brothers like chocolate and biscuits too much. She hides stash of Coca Cola and chocolate. My maternal side of the family has a bad diet that’s why everyone is suffering from the same disease.
