@@WellMefisto No its not what I mean. Have you been paying attention to a lot of the blues being performed these days by younger musicians? A lot of it highly formulaic and over produced. And virtuosity is not a pre requisite for playing blues. R.L. Burnside often played with an out of tune guitar but still sounded amazing. Raw and unpredictable, as blues is meant to be. In fact, it can be argued that the blues in its purest form will die once all the old black blues legends are gone. There are a few of them still around like Buddy Guy but their numbers are dwindling. Keith Richards early playing was driven by the blues and he became part of a small contingent of white musicians who have the blues in their blood. BTW, I'm a 64 year old diatonic harmonica player. Been playing for 48 years and the blues in its purest form is still somewhat out of my reach.

Started listening the Keith in 1885 when he was in the king Keith jazz trio. Fell off my radar for a few years and picked him up again when he formed the stones in 1901
I remember back in the 80 's people saying he wouldn't live long . Good job Keith , I bet you out lived a lot of the know it all's. I Love the Rolling Stones .
