So, since they should have experience, the fact that they got it done in 12 hours doesn't mean anything really other than it was done fast. If they are going to forget to use the correct bolt inna certain place or forget to tighten them correctly, they can forget if they are taking their time no different. I know people forget things when being pressed for time but that can happen even if you're trying to go slow. Also, if there is a problem, they are going to correct it and thry aren't going to just leave it and hopefully not have to deal with it down the road. A lot of mechanics in here. Have a 2017 Ford Expedition. 6 cylinder turbo charged. Taken it to 2 different ford dealers, and they just can't fix it. Intermittent misfire cylinder 2. Plugs and coil swapped. Was doing oil changes every 5K miles until 100K, then every 3K full synthetic. Filter clean, dealer says injectors are good and clear. Truck runs fine, but when I hit about 3500-4,000 RPM sometimes, no matter the speed, just seems RPM based, cyclinder 2 starts misfiring. It doesn't recover, have to pull over, shut the engine off. I restart the engine, everything is fine. I looked at the freeze frame data for the p0302 code, o2 sensor voltages look fine, but fuel trims are like -90% on several banks. This only seems to effect cylinder 2. WTF is going on, why can't Ford dealerships figure this out?
Not really. Diesel’s can run just fine off a very lean fuel-to-air ratio. And like Gale Banks says, if you want power out of a diesel, you gotta force colder, denser air into it whilst then adjusting the fuel in accordance.
Diesel is opposite of gas. Too much fuel in a diesel raises the EGT's, so leaner is safer in a diesel. Where with a gas motor typically richer is safer.

People complaining about it being done in 12 hours while they drive a whole vehicle that was built in probably the same amount of time on an assembly line.
Dave...I have a question is think all the gassers want to know. Why diesel? With the cost of maintenance like extra oil and fuel filters, def fluid, more fluids, most anything goes wrong and it's almost a complete teardown, diesels are useless without turbos and they go out and cost money and if you put turbos on gas you could get the about the same power.... so by the time you maintain a diesel to it's expected lifetime you could have replaced your gas engine 3 times and still saved money. So I don't understand the big demand for diesel... help me understand?
It looks like you have an injector that is having an issue either that or you are burning oil. Fuel or oil is what the smoke is. Hope you guys can figure it out.
