Its enjoyable to see you recreate one of your mom's recipes. Its also fun to see her grandchildren cook. Your mom may have started a legacy, you encouraged and nurtured it. What a loving legacy. Thank you.
The unheralded pie of pies!!!! I usually omit the lemon juice per my taste and I've never had one come out bad. I am not a cook. This really should be the first pie taught. And since few people regularly make them, they are always a hit at a gathering! Thanks for all your videos. I don't often comment on them but I am a viewer who appreciates your channel.
🙌 Wow! 👏🏻 Yum, buttermilk 🥧 is amaaaazingly good! I can only imagine how good homemade is. Great job! Especially with 🥧 crust!! That crust looked great and fit 👌 perfectly, it wasn’t a Frankenstein-crust!! That looked so creamy and well baked, you did your Mom proud! That’s awesome to be able to instruct those pilots, I wish you could take us on a tour of that simulator! What a great career you have and thank you again for your service, Colonel!! ❤️
Buttermilk pie is fantastic! There's another pie that is similar, yet different, & it's very well known in the midwest, especially in Indiana. It's known as 'Hoosier' pie, or, SUGAR pie. 🥧 It is so delicious, & very smooth. 😋 I'm wishing EVERYONE a beautiful weekend. 🇺🇲 🌄
Wow Steve another brilliant recipe inspired by your beloved mother! don’t give your self enough credit when due when creating recipes now I will have to add this to my list of pie recipes towards my pie addiction!
Thanks for sharing Steve! Mom is so proud of you up there and is smiling... you're a wonderful cook in your own right...God Bless you for all you do..be safe...💞🙏🌻🌺😘
I bet you are a hit at the training center. Everyone loves homemade PIE! I would have loved to have seen their faces when you said "Buttermilk Pie"! Then their reactions when they Tasted it! Your Mother was smiling down on you! It was good to see you again! GOD bless
Oh gosh I am missing Miss Phyllis so much right now.. I wish she was back with us. Steve I know that you would like that too. Her voice used to sooth me when things were hectic. I just miss her and Mr. Bucky.
I have made the original recipe that your mom posted years ago, so many times! It is delicious and light and easy to dress up with berries. Loved your mom and Mr. Bucky and their videos. God bless you. Thank you for your service.
I made this when your Mom published her video recipe, and it was delicious... and now I'm going to make this again... it is delicious. This is one of those recipes where the finished product is greater than the sum of its parts. Thank you!
Hello Mr Steve...I think so often of your mom and l am grateful 🙏 for you...I love your sense of humor...your mom's onion pie 🥧 got me hooked. Be safe .God bless you and your family.
Same here Debroah! I’m so grateful that Steve has kept his mothers channel going!! I miss her greatly but Steve has done a great job of making it feel like she’s still with us and teaching us how to keep our tummies spoiled!! Thank you Steve!! You are appreciated my friend!! Take care and be safe
Frankincrust !😁🤖 Not that bad. Interesting someone in the AF could take a year and a half off. Never had that option in the army. Cool you trained the 1st 2 women in those aircrafts! Yummy, buttermilk pie, and French butter! Makes me think of the croissants we had in Paris(Army bus trip from GE!).😊 Interesting mixer! Looks like the pie turned out very well!👍 Have a nice week.🌞
Well Steve, you looked absolutely thrilled with your own work. Looks like you did an excellent job. I will definitely have to try to make this pie. Thank you so much for sharing your mom's recipe. 🥧♥️👍
I've never had buttermilk pie. As a French Canadian, the closest thing we have is called sugar pie. But I think it's time I tried your version. It looks spectacularly good.
TIP: You want to make sure to fully let the pie cool at room temperature (at least 2 hours) before you slice it to avoid it being runny. If your buttermilk pie separates while you mix the Fflling: most likely you added the buttermilk (an acidic ingredient) at the same time as the other ingredients.
Great video. I’m going to try your moms recipe. I loved to watch your mom cooking. You really take after her. But I don’t think she could fly planes. Love your vlog.
I made this pie yesterday and it’s the best recipe of this pie I’ve made! It turned out perfect! The only recipe I will use from now on. Thank you. After watching your video Mrs. Phyllis’ video came up. I had to watch her too.
Stephen, that pie looks yummy! Add some coconut and it could be coconut custard. You tackled a pie crust and won! I hope that your co workers appreciate your efforts. Enjoy!
Oh wow this pie looks good. 😊 Really one of the nicest pie recipes I've seen, loved watching your dearest Mom make this one. Your pie crust was'nt that scary.😊 Well done Colonel, I'm sure your colleagues loved it.xo Take care.xo😊❤
This recipe of your moms is one of my favorite, for taste and ease of prep. I’ve made it a few times and it turns out wonderful. You can also add 1/3 cup sour cream with 2/3 cup of milk also to make buttermilk. I’ve made this pie with the sour cream and milk mixture in place of the buttermilk when I couldn’t find it at the store.
@@vickiel914 Ms Vickie I can’t credit for it. I learned it here on one of Ms Phyllis’ videos. I works great. I use a whisk and whisk them together. Also buttermilk freezes well too. So freeze it in 1 cup portions to use later.
The fact that you’re even attempting to make these videos and re-create her recipes is pretty great! I really enjoy your videos even though I’m not a Christian or anything like that but it’s really fun watching you make these videos and you seem like such a nice guy and it’s very admirable that you’re a pilot how fascinating is that! Very cool!!!
HOLY COW, COLONEL!! That pie came out pretty perfect. I cannot believe you got out such a first slice with a knife as a pie server. You pulled off a HOUDINI DESERT DESSERT !!!!!
That pie sure looks good. The look of joy that spread across your face as you tasted it was priceless! I'll be wanting to try this recipe....our son has chickens and ducks so there is always an abundance of eggs around here. Thanks for the video and looking forward to the next one!
@@PhyllisStokes I actually use duck eggs in place of chicken eggs pretty often. You just have to adjust the amount since duck eggs are larger than chicken eggs. Actually, a couple of days ago I made your mom's Spinach Pie which calls for 4 eggs. I used 3 duck eggs and the recipe turned out just fine. Duck eggs are definitely richer than chicken eggs so I imagine that's why bakers love them.
Mouthwatering delicious. Your pie crust is a winner! Sometimes we even fool ourselves as cooks….doing better than we think we did. Your turn to do so, that is, doing better than U thought……welcome back…missed you yesterday.
Yummy!!! Thank you. Looks delicious😃👍. Many blessings and be safe❤❤. My grandson is halfway through boot camp in San Antonio Texas, Air Force. He can't wait to graduate and get my chocolate chip cookies 🥰🥰
Sure was a quick glimpse of that pie crust!😁 I wanted a vitamix once I saw Ms Phyllis use it and discovered it was too pricey for me! Your pie had to be wonderful with those quality ingredients, especially that Madagascar vanilla. Great job Colonel!
Your pie looks delicious. I can see you really enjoyed your slice of pie. Now off to the kitchen I go to make one. All the husbands that just watched you take that bite of pie wants the same experience. So at our house thanks to You and your son dinner will be ribs and dessert now is buttermilk pie. 😁 God Blessings and stay safe our brother!
