  • Now I see what all the fuss is about! This is so easy and so delicious!
    Ingredients:
    1 box of lime jello (or your preferred flavor)
    1 cup boiling water
    1 cup cool water
    (use amount of water prescribed on your box of jello)
    8 ounces cream cheese at room temperature
    1/8 teaspoon vanilla
    Directions:
    1. In a bowl, add boiling water to jello mix and stir until dissolved.
    2. Pour mix into a blender and add cream cheese. Blend until cream cheese liquified. Add cool water and blend for 15-20 seconds.
    3. Pour into your preferred jello dish. Consider lightly oiling the dish to keep the jello from sticking.
    4. Put into refrigerator until it sets (4-6 hours).

    I remember back in the 1960's that jello actually sold boxes of jello that separated into the 3 layers.
    My little children loved them! Thanks for a wonderful memory, and I am so glad you are continuing your mother's channel, she was such a sweet lady! ❤️

    Happy Easter I was sitting here feeling a little bummed and I'll admit a bit upset at my son because I hadn't heard from him yet and I saw a notification for your video when I saw what it was for it put a smile on my face a few yrs back I was missing my mom and me ma and the family get togethers we had growing up and I want to make this jello dish I'd had so many times as a kid but my mom didn't have it written down and there was no one to ask for the recipe so I decide to search for it on youtube and that's how I found your mother I watched her video and it gave me a familiar at home family feeling it had been so long since anything had felt like that not to mention she new the recipe I was looking for☺️ it takes a special person to be able to do that threw a video that's how I knew your mother was a very special person and so are you I feel her threw you at times it's nice to see you find your own niche, your special way in doing these videos and still honor your mother it's a beautiful thing to see a man do thank you very much for being you and making a difference in my life today may God bless you and your family always

    You added a whisk to your cooking arsenal! Yes! When I was very little, a million years ago, my great grandmother made black cherry jello and added a can of drained black cherries. Then she would stir in tiny balls or squares of cream cheese. Delicious. My mother used to make strawberry jello. When it was set she would stir it up. Then she would fold in whipped cream. Mmmmm so good.

    • @MsSweetpea1958
      @MsSweetpea1958 2 роки тому

      When Miss Phyllis did this recipe I was making it every day or two. Mine always divided into 2 layers and thought of Jello 123 when it did this. I wondered if it was the high speed of the blender that made it split. It is creamy, fruity and refreshing but I found my arthritis was better from eating it because of the gelatin. Raspberry was my fave too.

    One of my favorite videos she did and if I remember correctly she did a few jello videos mixing it up with the flavors. She brought a great deal of joy to countless kitchens and family dinner tables. This flavor is great with some chopped pecans and pineapple mixed in, too. Without even trying you made Jello 1-2-3! They sold that product back in the 70's. My mom used to make it for us.
    We moved to the country and life has been a bit crazy. I think I need to do some catching up on your cooking. I think this popped up in my feed because I was just talking about your mom. My husband was telling me I couldn't run the tiller without his help and I quickly reminded him of how Ms. Phyllis did it when Mr. Bucky was sick. 😊

    This is such a nice nod back to the old days, and a sweet memory of your mom. Miss seeing her new postings! Anyway, we used to have this on holidays. My mom would add: finely diced celery, sometimes chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans, and also canned pineapple (will not gel set with fresh) but it was called lime “salad” and was a big hit!

  • @Oldebookworm

    I have been making that recipe ever since I saw your mom do it. I changed it up by substituting a can of pears in place of the cold water I buzz the dissolved jello, cream cheese and pears together in my blender. Sometimes I add a little grated lime rind for added tartness if I have a fresh lime. Me thinks I need to make some for dinner. It has been a while since the last one Thanks!!!!!

Who comes up with this crazy stuff lol I guess it’s 1950s type of thing… Remember aspics! Thankfully nobody in my family ever made such monstrosities but I have seen them… You know Jell-O molds with things like lettuce and sometimes people would get crazy and do spaghetti no thanks lol

    Your Mom used less water (3/4 c. hot and 3/4 c. ice water) and mixed it in a Vitamix. She loved the bubbles in it. You might try it with less water and blending at a higher speed for a little longer to make up for less powerful blender. I can't believe that vid has almost 1 million views!

    • @MsSweetpea1958
      @MsSweetpea1958 2 роки тому

      I've also sprinkled in a bit of Knox gelatin with the Jello powder at the beginning to stiffen it up, but it can lump up so use a whisk and be quick. If you get some lumps before you perfect your method, strain them out and let the Vitamix smooth it out.

      They make glue from horse hooves. We don’t eat horse products in this country. Lol

    Since English is not my native language I'm wondering: Is your habit of pronouncing whisk etc with an h sound a dialect thing?🙂 I imagine it's a thing from the south parts of the US? Maybe also from people older than 30? I'm probably completely wrong, I don't know anything about this, just guessing☺
