  • Video 5 in the recall series - developing the heel position.
Please note that the explanatory part of the clip had to be recorded separately due to horrendous weather/wind noise over the past few days! Also, the EXACT steps taken to the current point will be covered in the upcoming Video 6 - again, weather conditions made training AND recording impractical/impossible, and training the dog comes first!

Oh so fantastic!!! You practice your craft so beautifully, it is a privilege to be able to watch and learn from this series Jamie. And look at her TAIL as her confidence grows that she's doing what's expected when it's asked of her. FREEDOM for their dog and CONTROL when needed, what more could ANYONE ask? BRILLIANT!!

I'm only halfway through the clip so far but it makes my heart sing at about 4 minutes in, we can see how WIGGLY and THRILLED she is just at the idea that there's a big ol' fuss about to be had, and she CANNOT WAIT to abandon her own activity to come and love on you!! THIS is how it should look!!!! No longer self employed but in a PARTNERSHIP that you BOTH get something out of!! ❤ Right, pressing play and watching the rest now :)

My girl is a 4 yr brittany rescued from Spain, super high prey drive and yours is the best technique so far, hoping that we can progress to off lead. Cheers

This looks great! But can’t quite figure out how you taught the heel position? You showed how she had no understanding of it at the beginning, and then the sections where she did it perfectly. How did you get there? Thank you!

Looks like he's showing us that in video 6. Just read that in the notes below his video.

Is there anything more rewarding than a dog bounding back towards you with a wagging tail?

Liking the new format Jamie. It is so nice to see your work. Thank you. We got soaked yesterday night as well : ) Still, the training has to be done , no matter the weather.

Watched the preceding 4 videos, now we see the dog walking to heel on video 5...but we don't see how this was achieved!???

Lovely progress, enjoying following your work with this dog. I have the issue of my dog only staying in the heel position (no ecollar used) if I constantly repeat heel, heel, heel. Hope the next video helps remove that aspect for me, it's exhausting. am I want to teach w/o ecollar, don't know why, I just feel he should be doing this basic command continuously w/o ecollar being deployed. My gut instincts directing me, but maybe wrong of me. I will continue watching. Thank you

I like how u mention that the avoidance is not necessarily due to a negative association. I have a dog with high arousal and any touch triggers avoidance and flinching/bouncing. Some times it is just how it becomes.

This looks good, but can’t quite figure out how you taught the heel position? You showed how she had no understanding of it at the beginning, then the sections where she did it perfectly. How did you get there, thats what the whole point was for people watching, also what isthat tight collar is it a shock collar it looks like one

Hi....just wanted to know how I can get walking to heel - I may be missing something on the videos! At the moment I am treating my dog while walking to heel but continue to walk and not stop to treat her.

Do you have video of the processes of developing the heel that include her failing and working out what you actually want?

Really enjoying watching this - I know she’s wearing the collar now, but I’m assuming it’s still not been conditioned to any of the work you’ve done so far? I haven’t seen anything about it in the videos.

Your prey driven dog and my prey driven dog look just alike only mine is an intact male. Everyone tries to tell me that if I get him fixed it'll fix everything but hello people... prey drive is not a hormonal thing! Why do people think these are one in the same?

Hi Jamie, I have exactly the same dog. She is a Labrador bitch with a very strong hunting instinct. How can I stop her effectively? I hope you can explain it. Thank you and Greetings from Austria!
