    You two bring out so much energy and positive vibes in your videos. You really make me feel like I’m right there enjoying that smoked fish with you. A lot of young people might not realize, but many of us “seniors” had our own adventures back in the day. I sure did; from my hippie days of the ’60s to 20 years as a cross-country trucker. Sharing your adventures helps all of us re-live our great adventures. I’m sure I speak for many of us when I say Thank You. Let the adventures continue and be safe.

    "Hows the serenity"............................... HAD ME CRYING !
    Watching your channel is pretty much a "Damned if you do, and Damned if you don't" because of Pascale.
    Her cooking looks and sounds so AMAZING. I'm always surprised at what she can make with limited ingredients and not a shop in sight.
    You won the best lotto when you met her mate. Love your channel.

    Troy! Hey, Aussie Brother of the Smoke! :) Dude, to keep the "soaked wood chips" from bursting into !"flames"! Take your "Tin-snips", get a "Tin-can", cut the can down to 1/3rd it's height, put the soaked wood chips in the can (not dripping wet) and place the can on the coals, with the wet chips inside; they will smoke but not set alight, and will turn to charcoal, in the end, once all the good stuff is expended! "How bout dat, Boo"? ::;)

    Yum. Pacific oysters are the best. I helped harvest and eat them when I visited a friend of mine he lived in Oregon on the coast. His dad had an oyster farm that he started on a $10 bet in the Umpqua River. They were the best oysters I have ever seen and tasted. They called them pork chops because some of them were so big. But they were all very clean and clear tasting

    Another beauty of a video. Evokes memories of many Fortescue Bay camping and diving trips. Endless hours on the beach, snorkelling, hiking, swimming, sailing. Enjoying the kelp forests and penguin rookeries and harvesting abalone. Thoroughly enjoying your exploits in Tasmania and your sharing of Australian culture. Loving your work on a rainy morning here at Broughton Island. Bet the rain wouldn’t keep you two out of the water though! 😂💕

    • @miltas8837
      @miltas8837 4 роки тому

      @@FreeRangeLiving There is a penguin breeding rookery at the north end of the beach. We would walk from the campground along the beach and walk along the rocks for 10 mins or so. The penguins come ashore at dusk and are quite unique in that they utilise wet forest for their burrows. We would have torches but not bright ones so as not to disturb them and would stay on the rocks at the edge of the rookery to as not to damage any burrows. Haven't done this for a long time so hopefully they are still there.

    Nice way to cook those mackies, fillet them lay them top to tale in a oven tray flesh up. Use a gas torch and slowly go over each one for say 25 secs, while your doing that the one along side starts cooking aswell. When done flip them over and cook the skin to taste. I prefer mine nice and crunchy you cant best it fresh tasty free range tucka lol. Amazing stuff you guys are doing. Keep it up. Martyn & Sarah.

    I only recently discovered your channel here in Lockdown London and have at leisure watched all your films. I don't know when I will own a boat, but I have now set up a Vision Board. To it I am adding a screenshot of you both to represent the kind of decent, honest, kind hearted folk I hope to meet on my circumnavigation. My divided land is cursed with interesting times and yet on the other side of the planet I see a better place, where people have found a way to live with respect for one another, in harmony with the world around them, and very much at peace even in the face of gale force winds. Thank you for my dream, and safe travels in your gilded gondola.

    Interesting. Pacific Oysters from here to Tasmania, eucalyptus from there to here. Fair trade. The rap about fire adaptations was really informative. Thanks. The destructive fire in the Oakland, Ca. hills on the east side of San Francisco Bay was due to homes built in and around them, with no clearance. Scenic, shady and explosive....

    When I was at Uni (Dalhousie in Halifax, NS, Canada). 40 yrs. ago. We could walk a few klicks from our dorms to the ocean shore and harvest a bucket full of mussels. For $1 you could get a license to harvest scallops. Today there no licenses to be had unless you're a professional fisherman (for a pricey sum) and if you collect mussels from the shore you'll get charged a hefty fine or charged with trespass. Enjoy your free ranging while you may. Love your videos.

    I recall the day that I KNEW I COULD DO IT! I had set three sport shrimp pots, four sport crab pots and went jigging for Rocks, Reds and or Halibut. I caught three Rock cod, Two Red Snapper and one 80 lbs Halibut. Cleaned them and went to check the pots. The "shrimp" pot were unbelievable.... I did not catch "shrimp", I caught 185 PRAWN ( They were all 10 to 12 inches long). The Crab Pots were just as impressive. Four sport pots had garnered fifty five legal Dungeness crab and my mate dug a five gallon pale of cockle. We ate like kings for a week. And tried for more. A month later we had salmon and a goat! Blessed are those that try!!!!

    He y guys I am really impressed with the way you respect, prepare and cook your food. It really bugs me to see people cook food and use it as a plaything like throwing a pie into someone's face , a disgusting waste. Love the charcoal Magma barbecue. You use hickory to smoke - we use Manuka chips, fabulous flavor. You call it Tea Tree in Tassie. Of course the bees make our world famous Manuka Honey from the same tree. Look forward to your next vid. Kiwi beekeeper.
