Hi everyone. My first time catching lobster by ✋ was pretty exhilarating! If you enjoyed the video and you want to keep seeing more thanks for considering becoming part of our patron family crew. To find out more visit: www.freerangesailing.com/support-our-videos . Much respect, Pascale
I sent along a few dollars by PayPal. I really appreciate your videos. By far my favorite channel. Windhippesailing is a good one. Single girl sailing the world. I love going along. God bless and thanks for making an old man's day. Fair winds
Pascale, you're such a warm and loving person. You display this love in the way you cook quite a bit, and I love that about you. Troy is the luckiest guy on Earth to have a woman like you ... so beautiful, so sweet and most of all, so adventurous! God Bless you both, and keep you safe. Cheers from Oklahoma USA .
I want to thank you both for being so kind and down to earth. I have been watching and enjoying your channel well I have worked on my boats now 2 years alone.. With out you two playing and talking in the background.Id of given up..Most days I wonder it the work will ever end..I really appreciate you two people. And one day here I'll be off the hard and on my way..Thankyou for being there in the background for all my Good and bad days..
Absolutely love what you guys are doing. The information and know how instead of just glamorizing a lifestyle is so refreshing. Thanks for what you do and looking forward to many more videos I hope.
Pascale and Troy! You guys should open a surfside seafood restaurant when your not free ranging! Call it Freerangers at the Shore! I'll come all the Way from Little River, SC to taste the goodies! We're the bluecrab capital of the US!
You kids are the best I like the local sustainability idea you have not the biggest boat but you both know how to sail her and the places you are not scared to go is great
Watching Pascale clean the legs of the crayfish took me back a long time. On my semi annual trips to the then mostly empty Baja California I'd do very similar things. I had no idea so much of Tasmania was empty of humans. Delightful. Be safe and thanks for the radio information.
The shell with the holes along a ridge which Pascale touched looked as though it could have been a 'paper nautilus' which is the egg case of the Nautilus, an ancient cousin to cuttlefish.
Hi there Troy and Pascalle, We, Ed and Nicole from the Netherlands, are watching your video's sinds last month. We Love your video's!!! We have almost watched them all. Thank you so much youre verry inspiring for us. Love to see how youre living from the sea and hou you treat the nature. Also the way how you explane the different items like the maintanence of different things is verry good. So thanks for making these video's and keep IT up! 🤗👍😄😄😄 Thanks Ed and Nicole.
Another enjoyable vid. Adventure. Imagine at the spots you are at and then think of NYC ! Kinda like heaven or hell in regards to peace and quiet. Ya all brave to walk in that possible snake area. So much grass/swamp about. Like the cooking. Very tasty looking and very creative. And fresh !
Another awesome ep thank you great work catching the lobsters and abalone. They looked absolutely delicious in both your recipes.keep up the awesome content love ya work stay safe enjoy
You Both are AWESOME !!! I Love how Down to earth you both are and how you explain all you are doing. watching the refit and building the new storage compartments was Great - really detailed. can't wait to watch the new Rigging !!! also watching the cooking - someone has worked as a chef before ? presentation is a term learned in culinary arts classes , so first class Dinning with you two and Fresh from the ocean to the plate would be a real Treat !!!! maybe you guys could do some processing videos of the food you catch ? For those of us that have never fished before. How to remove the head and guts , how to fillet it and what you can and can't eat , if you have the time . Thank you so Much , would love to support you Two more as a Patron or something but lost my job here in the stated do to Covid 19 . Be Well, safe Travels and Thank You Both , you Guys are Great to watch !!!! PEACE N LOVE
Really enjoyed reading your free ebook but this video make it clear you ought to try writing a full cook book. I’m sure it would be a great seller. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Scott Blackwell this is 2020 not 1820 where your misogynistic attitudes are stuck. Go and check out the women sailors on UA-cam, many of whom are solo. They are always the equal of any men sailors.
The visibility there is on par with Monterey Bay here in California on a good day. I've got to wear my drysuit though, too cold for me, you two must have some thick blood!
I really enjoy these two adventurers, but I lean towards Pascale for her all-around beauty and she is fortunate to have a gifted handyman too. Thanks, It's HOT here in Texas USA 93F@ 8:30pm CST
Lobster and abalone... hard living! 🤣🤣 You guys are going to make me break out my dive belt and do some lobster hunting myself!😁😁 Happy to see you both doing well! Take care!
SSB recievers are MUCH cheaper (about $200usd) and simpler ( no power or grounding issues) to have onboard than a transmitter. Make sure it has PLL (phase lock loop) so it will track the station so you dont have to tune it constantly. They can also receive weather isobar maps in many areas to be decoded and displayed on your laptop (freeware). Cheers.
Great post. The crayfish soup looked very tasty as did the abalone. How good is Bathurst harbour! One of the great places on the planet. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Great bit of foraging and treading in the footsteps of our ancestors!! It shows how much our world has changed yet the basic essentials for survival are supprisingly similar... at least for free range sailors!!
Ah! Here in New England, we call it lobster bisque, and yours is the authentic version because you took the time to make stock from the shells. Nicely done!
Aye m8’s, I'm still here and watching as soon as I can. Haven't missed any episode yet. Although work is in an intense period so there is hardly time for comments. Problem is you almost always make me hungry but this time I was prepared and finished a big pasta meal before watching. Thnx for every detail you share.
Pascale; of course you knew that soup would be good, we home chefs can predict these things. Looked so tasty! Troy; good tip, and one that my dad taught me, of warning snakes by making a firm footfall.
Troy, are you sure that are you sure that was a midden? I see and beaches with lots of fine quartzite sand like that where heavier items like shells and so forth will aggregate from shifting Sands ability to move quite easily and leave behind heavier items that are thrown up in storms. Just asking? my favorite one also has what are called heavy my favorite one also has water called heavy mineral Sands in low spots where because they are slightly heavier than the rest of the sand they also Aggregate and if you scooped them up and look at them against the sunlight you will see semi-precious Stone fragments in it as well so it's nice to see the bright white sand with the jewel tones at the same place! Lovely epiphytes in this video by the way!
Hi guys , how wonderful to see great folks enjoying life's gifts. We live in Port Vila Vanuatu maybe one day you will come and visit. Next winter would be good and tell your girl the water here in winter is 23 degrees. And plenty of lobster. Stay well.
I have skin dived in victorian waters and other southern waters for most of my near 50 years and have yet to see a wild cray..other than in a cray pot. awesome to see. fyi abalone guts can make good bait, good for ludrick particularly which should be down there. An underrated fish, bleed, get rid of the black tummy lining and eat quickly. YUMMMMM... Spearable too. (The usual, you might be all over this, disclaimer.) happy sailing
50 years?! Yet to see wild? Are you wearing a mask? You do kinda have to get your head into spots, they don't just stand on a rock and tap dance with a top hat. Well, I mean, not during daylight hours anyway.
Your piece on weather forecasts reminds me of an exchange I saw on TV a few years back. A news presentor was being dismissive towards the "weather girl" her sassy reply was: 'Well all you do is tell people what has happened whereas I predict the future!!'
That was a nice lobster (or kreef as it's called in South Africa) who caught...so you can now put a "kreef on the braai, which will be lekker" or in Aussie, throw a lobster on the barbie.
Brilliant food recipes, looks delicious and easy to do at home, don't catch that many Lobsters in the River Dee however. Loved the muddy walk, what an amazing country. Living the dream you two.
you re right snakes are completely deaf and can only feel foot stomps for forewarning. Given he chance all snakes will flee anything more than a few inches tall.
the sometimes feel you coming and hunker oown in hopes you'll pass them by if they stay hidden. If they are partially sunning themselves on a path, they may clear the way. Rattlers do it all the time in the US and people have no clue they are inches away from their feet, just well hidden and feel secure. But even rattlesnakes have no clue that they make a noise. they're just terrified and shaking like every snake, and the dead skin on their tail gives them away. Protects them from being stepped on in evolutionary talk.

I love it that Pasci knows how to cook, and catch crays. She's a keeper
I've never had Abalone, but if your a Lobster, Pascale will get you..lol. Just enjoy this channel so much.
You guys are living the real life ! That most of us only get to dream of !
Pascale, you're such a warm and loving person. You display this love in the way you cook quite a bit, and I love that about you. Your cooking is exceptional. Made my mouth water. Your discussion of technique is genuine and spot on.

So you're the breadwinner now. Good work Pascal. Kad
Free Range Sailing: the sailing channel that puts other cooking channels to shame! Seriously, I would buy Pascale's first cookbook in a heartbeat
I look forward to your new videos like I look forward to oxygen.... your videos make even the shittiest day a little brighter. Thanks
You kids are the best I like the local sustainability idea you have not the biggest boat but you both know how to sail her and the places you are not scared to go is great
All I can say is , you are a lucky man troy
Watching Pascale clean the legs of the crayfish took me back a long time. On my semi annual trips to the then mostly empty Baja California I'd do very similar things. I had no idea so much of Tasmania was empty of humans. Delightful. Be safe and thanks for the radio information.
Most of Australia is empty of humans... ;)
Wow! That lobster soup looks as good as the deep fried oysters you cooked back up the north coast!
Really appreciate Pascale’s explaining how he prepares her dishes, including recipes.
I also enjoyed the info on SSB tecsun radio. Can you recommend a particular model and place to purchase?
Pascal is a sweetheart
Can hunt, cook, sail and adventure. These videos are so good I had to watch this one twice.. Thanks crew.
Our pleasure!
The shell with the holes along a ridge which Pascale touched looked as though it could have been a 'paper nautilus' which is the egg case of the Nautilus, an ancient cousin to cuttlefish.
Love this channel. Real sailors. Thank God!

My mouth is watering and I just finished dinner. Nice work!
Ahhhh, off grid adventure should never mean eating rubbish. You would fit in with my people very well.
Pascale was driving that seagull crazy with the smell of cooking that lobster bisque.
A top notch video, its going straight to the pool room.
And fresh !
Ok this is video number 14 of my "I want to buy a Free Range Sailing hoody" campaign

nice job on the lobster soup, it looks delicious :-)
That be some greaet 'Ranging. My take on weather - add 5-10 knots and it will all probably change in half the time lol
That soup looks delicious on a cool rainy day aboard the boat. Heaven!
Chef Pascal, that soup was amazing, well done.
Murk aside, beautifuly rich and verdant. Well shot! Cold water has it's own abundant charm eh?
Sort of. Pretty spooky and bloody cold (12°C)
Great video guys, that gal can sure catch supper lol, and cook it too! Wonderful camera work, take care be safe.😎👍👍
Troy, you're so lucky to have a great shipmate like Pascale!! I think most women would simply get in the way. Very well done guys!
Scott Blackwell this is 2020 not 1820 where your misogynistic attitudes are stuck. Go and check out the women sailors on UA-cam, many of whom are solo. They are always the equal of any men sailors.

I admire the philosophy
Ah! Here in New England, we call it lobster bisque, and yours is the authentic version because you took the time to make stock from the shells. Nicely done!
Wow Pasquale, What a soup. I`m coming to your place for dinner !!!

Well done Pascale' awesome lobster catches, you would never go hungry on your yacht
Just learn so much from us thanks
Pascale; of course you knew that soup would be good, we home chefs can predict these things. Looked so tasty! Troy; good tip, and one that my dad taught me, of warning snakes by making a firm footfall.
Ohhhh. I wanted to see that tuna!
Love your soup recipe 💖

Brillant Ep (isode) as we say in the biz. Well done guys. Always informative
Good looking soup!
The mother of pearl in those abalone shells is cool (the ones you caught and the old ones on the beach).
My god gorgeous but amazingly tough to dive in that water. You’re have a winner there👍😉😁 Tigers down there are tough buggers too
Hi guys , how wonderful to see great folks enjoying life's gifts.
We live in Port Vila Vanuatu maybe one day you will come and visit.
Next winter would be good and tell your girl the water here in winter is 23 degrees. And plenty of lobster.
Stay well.
@7:30; AND hopefully heat up the fresh water calorifier for a hot (But brief) shower when you’ve finished skin-diving for Crays!!!
Yes! Hot sponge baths are key after diving in that freezing water.
Great soup!
Well done Pascale . that fish at the end looked like it will have a good impacted on the refrigerator :)
I have skin dived in victorian waters and other southern waters for most of my near 50 years and have yet to see a wild cray..other than in a cray pot. awesome to see. fyi abalone guts can make good bait, good for ludrick particularly which should be down there. Woww interesting ☺👍
Your piece on weather forecasts reminds me of an exchange I saw on TV a few years back. A news presentor was being dismissive towards the "weather girl" her sassy reply was: 'Well all you do is tell people what has happened whereas I predict the future!!'
Dang, that lobster stew looked yummy!

Brilliant food recipes, looks delicious and easy to do at home, don't catch that many Lobsters in the River Dee however. Loved the muddy walk, what an amazing country. Living the dream you two.
Pascale , you've come a long way
That soup made me hungry. Nice 👍🏽
yum soup looks great
Oh man that soup made me so hungry!
you re right snakes are completely deaf and can only feel foot stomps for forewarning. Given he chance all snakes will flee anything more than a few inches tall.
A snakie friend of mine once told that stomping on the ground doesn’t do much to deter snakes, just be careful what you stand on.
Yeh, it just warns em, they dont really bugger off...well with the blacks where I'm from....
