Hey, guys! First, let me say that I support your channel by hitting the thumbs, commenting, as well as by watching the ads UA-cam puts with each video. I would send money as well as a patreon but, alas, I’m on a fixed income since retired. And secondly, yours’ is my favorite sailing-based channel out of the four or five I’m subscribed to at the moment. Of course, they are all informative & educational at one time or another, but it’s your personalities, humbleness, superior knowledge of not just the sailing aspect of what you do, humor, and insights that put your channel at the pinnacle. And the garnish to top it all off is your respect for your environment & knowledge of it. Wonderful job!!
Thank you so very much! You kids always keep it interesting! You've unknowingly nursed me through some really rough times and helped keep my mind awake and a smile on my face. Loveya always, Jim.
Just binge watching all your sailing after finding your free range living channel. Thank you for all your wonderful content. You are such a joy to watch and I'm learning heaps! Love the provisioning guide! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge, time and adventures.
Hi Troy and Pascale! I've been watching your amazing adventures for about 6 months now (on Apple TV so no comments), and this was my favourite video so far. You really took us along to MONA with you...the videography was next level, you've done such great work with this,! I hope I can support you sometime in the future, thanks for all the inspiration! :)
"Its possible to have ... on a very modest budget" Every Voyage Funded by our Patreons. Darnn. For a minute there I thought I had a chance :-( Thank goodness for adventurers like you, considering the rubbish on commercial channels. You're worth every penny.
The videos are made possible. Before, the annual budget was about $10k to live and run Mirrool. Making Free Range Sailing costs the same again with cameras, computers, data etc. so it is pretty modest.
Wow, your journey into Hobart, especially the mulberries brought back many childhood memories. My best friend (3 houses up the road) had a Mulberry tree, and we spent hours climbing it and eating the mulberries, but come dinner time I wouldn't be hungry. My mum would ask if I had been eating mulberries, of course I would deny it.....but eating mulberries leaves evidence!!! Needed a lawyer.
So sorry i had missed this video it is truly amazing. Can only imagine what it is like in person Thank you so very much for this one special video. Love hugs and special prayers to you both
OMG 😱 Such a fabulous place !! Pascale is especially glowing this episode. Thanks for the piece on provisioning, especially the alpha seeds to make nutritious greens !! Love you guys !! :) :) :) ❤️🙂
I did the conservation work on the Egyptology collection for MONA prior to it opening, got to tour the site whilst it was being built, that was a privilege and a trip - amazing place, amazing collection
Welcome to Hobart! Glad to see you enjoyed MONA - every time I've been there I've timed my visit to watch Cloaca Professional cheese one down. Love it!
Thanks for your provisioning guide Pascal - some great tips and it really stretched my imagination of what stores to keep an eye out for. Also, thanks for the Dahl recipe. I’ll get back to you once I’ve tried it. Glad you’re enjoying Tassie as much as we enjoy following you guys.
Visited Hobart two years ago and absolutely loved it. MONA is unique, no doubt about it. What struck me the most about Tasmania was the wonderful people. So glad that you are taking us along for the ride!
Pascale, WOW! Your provision guide is mind blowing, wish I'd downloaded it earlier. I would urge people to take a look at it and get the basics in. I have a strong feeling a second, even worse wave of covid will be back September time and this time, in the UK at least, the supply chain will be completely stuffed. Have been a bit lost as to how best prepare but your guide is bloody genius, thank you so much. Spent a fair bit at the Eco Store this morning but got tonnes of stuff and was still cheaper than a supermarket shop. Kim Chi fermenting as I type and a cheeky chocolate chia pudding on the cards for later 😁. Am actually feeling enthused about food again so a massive thank you from me, and my Sister in Law! You rock 💗
Yes! We love to hear about people putting these things into practice and finding happiness in doing so. You've made our day! Thanks very much and take care of yourselves and those you care about. P
Thank you tremendously for your wonderful gift of your provisioning guide. I promise I'll put it to very good use, and I'll cherish it always. Cheers !
Aye m8’s, Superb documentary series of your prep and sailing around. That MONA seems to be very interesting. Yes, as you know by now, I'm working with similar exhibitions every now and then and this looks real big. To follow you around is a real treat and true inspiration, especially right now. Thnx for all your efforts filming, editing, track laying and sharing! ❤️
Well, if you ever do make it to this part of the world, I can recommend allowing TWO days to properly see MONA. We didn't even get to really explore all of the inside and skipped virtually all of the exterior. A nice touch that we didn't mention, is that the museum was given as a gift to the people of Tasmania, so that anyone with a Tasmanian license can access it on any day for free! It's more a mental theme park than a museum- truly unique.
Your outward focused life and adventures are like manna from heaven to one stuck inside in an inward focused Lockdown London, and I am very grateful for that. More power to you.
I was there a year and a half ago. I saw that crazy art. Got a first class tour of the town by a nice lady including a ride up the mountain. Great place.
Haha. Awesome video. I love that massive sculpture. Yep I have downloaded Pascal's provision book. It's a great reader very well written. Nice job Pascal. Thank you very much. Take care guys. You're the best.
Hey guys, another great episode. I found the provisioning costs very helpful (as well as the spreadsheet that I downloaded some time ago). After an almost three month C-19 delay I'm preparing to set off for world domination at the beginning of July which is when the restrictions in Spain and Portugal will be sufficiently eased to actually get there. So MONA is another place on the itinerary now - along with the Kimberlies, the GBR, oh hell, just send me your track log, I need to see it all!
Cheers guys. Great vid. About to go to my summer job aboard a 32 ft Alaskan salmon gilnetter in Bristol Bay for 6 weeks. 4 people aboard a 32 ft boat! Looking forward to seeing your refit when I get back. Hope all is well.
We live Hobart too. Spent a week there last June. When locals asked us what brought us down from Brisbane, we said we wanted to visit the mainland for some decent weather. One highlight was my 6 year old son got got helm a 62 ft yacht across the Sydney Hobart finish line. Thankyou captain Bruce of Magic Miles.
Interesting museum, another bucket list item. Thanks for your provisioning guide, food prices have really gone up loads here (uk) so going to follow your lead for a few months - plus your cooking always looks so delicious. Shame I can't go fishing though. Hope you're safe and the refurb is going well. X
Artist Qualifications: If you don't think you're Artist, you're an Artist :-) Case in point. My wife and I visited New York and went to Solomon R. Guggenheim museum, inside I found my wife staring at a piece, I walked up to her and she looked at me with a puzzled look and said she didn't think she like it. I looked at the piece in question and told her she was staring at a museum window, after that I had a hard time take anything serious in the museum. When we got home we had a visit with an Uncle of mine who's been an Artist all his life and we told him of our story, he looked at my wife and said, you know more about art then most people.
Having been following you guys for a while now, each episode you post has me yearning for some “adventure” , but we’re still in a quite restrictive lockdown here in Scotland ! I love your healthy eating regime by the way 👍
Great vibe, as usual. Love Hobart. Still have the headache from being there NY’s Eve 1977/78 ... celebrating our 9th position in the Sydney-Hobart, one of only 65 to finish after half the fleet retired with damage or for other reasons in the Bass Strait. As for that “museum” .... MONA shows what can be done when money is no object! Go well, thanks as always for your awesome story-telling; and sharing your adventures so beautifully. Here in the UK we’re allowed to day-sail now, but not to stay onboard overnight. Hoping the restrictions lift next month.

I downloaded Pascal’s provisioning guide, and I have to say, it is an invaluable tool for any cruiser, camper, or prepper . Oh, and I followed your the kimchi recipe, and it is fantastic. You guys rock!

If you haven't parted with cash yet I recommend that you get a copy of "Get Real, Get Gone" by Rick Page. I wish got it before buying my boat - not that I'm unhappy with the boat I've got (Sigma 362 and not dissimilar to the Jenny you're looking at), far from it - but I may have made different decisions that could have made my life a bit less complicated!
Where did you leave your boat in Hobart? Do they have visitors berths, I assume you haven't anchored. Interested in how/where you leave your boat, especially when visiting tourist locations.
MOANA is awesome - intended to spend a couple of hours and ended up there all day. Did you see the parking space for 'God' and 'God's mistress'? Not a modern art person in general but thoroughly enjoyed it. Will go again one day.
We needed another day there, hopefully we can go back now things are opening up again and see everything we missed. I generally hate modern art but loved that place. A real surprise!
Free Range Sailing When I was there they had an exhibition where this guy plotted stuff with light. So he wandered around with a light while following a compass on a particularly magnetic hillside while taking a time lapse. He put lights on contraptions that spun and swung and again took time lapse photos. It was called field lines. There was a contraption that mechanically plotted the tidal movement in the river. Then there was this guy who turns up as a human exhibit as his body is heavily tattooed. As part of his deal he agrees to have his skin preserved and displayed when he dies. I loved it. Nuts place
