Yess!!! And the connection between different types of birth control and acne, and perhaps if acne can be mitigated even when on progestin-only types of birth control
If anyone is struggling with acne, know that it can very likely get better naturally (without prescriptions), if you want to take that route! It was a multi-month process of detoxification for me but adjusting my diet to remove my inflammatory triggers (for me it’s milk, dairy, and processed sugar) and support your microbiome and liver. I used to have ~20 large cystic pustules on my face at one time, and now, after the help of a functional medicine doctor, I’m completely clear without any prescriptions! Plus my digestion and energy levels are better with these dietary changes too!
@@meysammsm749 I used Botanycl capsules and Benzoyl peroxide with aveeno nourishing face wash, toner and cera ve moisturiser. I also now use hyaluronic, vit c and collagen serum too. Worked for me.
I dont really think you realize how freeing this episode is. Its like a weight has been lifted and i can finally stop wasting my money and time trying to find the perfect serum/lotion/potion to fix my adult acne and get amazing skin. Im calling a dermatologist tomorrow. Thank you so much!

I 2nd that! Especially crepey skin that comes with age. My arms - a trouble spot for me - face is not bc I'm using at-home IRLT plus Tret. Seems to be doing the trick😉. But arms(!) - even though I'm using same IRlT device and tretinoin on my arms (but for not as long as on my face/neck/chest)... So far, though - not seeing any progress for arms. Getting impatient!🙄
strongest strength acidic wash and lotion you can find. AHA's have helped me a lot, along with more sun protection. I prefer long sleeved and hats. Crepe is mildly improved, bruising all but gone.
Amen to that. I’m 55 and am always struggling with the right products to buy that are worth the cash. I don’t mind the investment but I don’t want to be taken for a ride either.
I am curious what you find is the most impactful treatment and serum for anti aging (besides retinol and Vit C)? I read a lot about growth factors and dna repair enzymes.
@@Joannabanana1989 I dont have enough experience with serums. I mainly try to avoid harmful chemicals rather than having experience with what works. Try to stay natural meaning understanding the ingredients lists as much as possible and avoiding scented stuff. I react poorly to lots of additives in products. You sound like you have a good base and thats where I focus. Diet, lifestyle stress among many other things seem to be best. Im sure there is gonna be advancements in DNA and but thats beyond me. Personally I agree with where you are researching and Im right there with you and this Dr pretty much said everything I know and lots more.

I went to a rheumatologist for my psoriatic arthritis last year. It had gotten so bad in my knees that I was limping. Doc was quick to prescribe medicine with a long list of negative side effects. He spoke of no other means of remedy. My wife (a dietitian) wasn't a fan of the visit. She recommended that I first eliminate sugars, gluten, processed foods, and alcohol (basically follow a Paleo diet) and try to better monitor my stress (practice mindfulness and exercise.) I did all of that and within just a few weeks my symptoms improved significantly. A year has passed and I feel fantastic. Moral of the story - Eat clean and be merry. It'll do the body good.
There is no such thing as „eating clean“. Your body is likely reacting to one or more of the foods you cut out. You can eat as „clean“ as you like, if your immune system reacts to the „clean“ food, you will still have a bad time. So it makes more sense to try an elimination diet than to just cut out everything (unless you do not mind losing a lot of weight and possibly missing nutrients).
I'm so glad I listened this. Been following social media dermatologists who keep trying to sell us their extremely outrageous expensive products and claiming that their products are THE ones that are going to solve all our skin problems.
well, he did peddle his sun powder and talked about collagen yet his has a fraction of the collagen powders. you buy. I take 15g daily, I believe his has like 125 mg, hardly worth throwing it in there.
It’s fine because it works for you, but beware people who are prone to anemia because caffeine prevents iron absorption. Also no point drinking a dehydrating substance like caffeine if you’re not compensating by drinking plenty of water. Also tea can degrade your enamel. So beware. Don’t take one anecdote from UA-cam comments and think it’s a miracle cure for you.
Also you clearly didn’t watch the,episode because he literally says Caffeine's vasoconstriction effect on skin is minimal and temporary and isn’t actually a great remedy.

Thank you for this excellent talk. I would just like to mention that when you go out in sunlight , covering up to prevent the short wave UV damage, you are still having the longer wave length red light , particularly near infra red light, penetrating deeply and causing beneficial effects, e.g. activation of mitochondria. This may be what is making you feel better, both physically and mentally.

Thank you Dr for your great tips and useful advices. i had acne for 6 years and i wanna explain my journey. maybe it works for even 1 person to get rid of the acne. cause acne and having a bad skin, effects on your confident. first of all, before every thing that you wanna do for your skin, please do a blood test. and by this test, you know your hormone problems. its a significant part of your journey. (i mean more important than every thing!) after that you should stop eating sugar and snacks. and you can replace more water and fruits. and eating herbs with your dinner and lunch. after that, if you have oily skin like me, you should keep your skin clean. and use the gentle cleanser (harsh cleanser make your skin worse) moisturizer (if you have oily skin, use the kind of moisturizer that they based on water and not so much greasy when you use it) and sunscreen. this three products are necessary that you wanna a clean skin without acne. reduce your stress. and if you are a girl, don't use foundation (especially heavy creams and oily and greasy creams). go to clinics and tell your problems for Dr. and for your redness, you should use the moisturizer and sunscreen and drink a lot of water. i promise you, it get better. and some times squeeze the sour lemon on your food. take tablets to balance your hormones. don't smoke, don't drink alcohol. love your self, it takes time. but after two month you see the big result. keep going and do all of my advices. don't give up. just do it. ❤
I havent seen it in the comments or summary, both excercise and cold exposure are excellent for circulation in the entire body, exercise also to detoxify. Diet is extremely important; lots of fruits and veggies and heavy on the greens. Your skin will show your health.

The approach of this dermatologist is very holistic unlike some dermatologist whose advice includes "taking health risks to maximize esthetics". his approach is more holistic, "prioritizing health of the skin and body" over: "adding to your toxins load to maximize short term skin glow" (the commercial advice). I wanted to pick up on his comment on using red light on before UV exposure, and how it mitigates damage - this speaks to getting early AM light , which is high in red light as protocol to help ward against UV damage later in the day.
1:16:07 I am sorry but this advice is not widespread to all contexts. In europe there are already pleanty sunscreen filters that are not absorve or minimaly absorved. It is only in the USA that the old sunscreen filters still compose the majority of sunscreen protection. If you are in the USA and you don't have access to European approve filters, try to buy La roche posay sunscreen with Meroryl SX and XL. This 2 filters don't have any major side effects associated with them. If you in Europe, look for ultra broadspectrum sunscreen like Avene containing Triasorb or the La roche posay UVmune line, this sunscreens protects against the longest wave UVA spectrum.
This guest easily confirmed Dr. Huberman's (US-centric) biases against chemical sunscreens and in favor of mineral sunscreens, without discussing important regional differences. For example: - The EU treats sunscreens as cosmetics, allowing for quicker approval times. - The FDA treats sunscreens as OTC drugs, requiring extensive testing. - The FDA hasn't approved a new type of sunscreen since 1999. - The EU has approved 27 active ingredients for sunscreens. - The EU regulates maximum concentration of these ingredients based on scientifically estimated safety levels. When examining potential dangers, issues can be found even in mineral sunscreen formulations, such as the use of butyloctyl salicylate (BOS) for texture and appearance improvement. While I'm not an expert in this field, it seems clear that important information, especially opposing viewpoints, is often overlooked when drawing conclusions on the sensitive topic of sunscreens.
@@Eteraz humm feeling wise yes but strength wise no. Korean sun screens are cool for everyday use but personally I still burn if I use them on the beach. The majority are not water proof and have low UVA protection. Some Korean brands are starting to include Meroxyl filters in their formulations (round lab dokdo), which is cool. I just wish someone would release a heavy duty sunscreen from Korea…

I have 3 questions that came to mind as I listened this incredible conversation! I would love to know- 1) is there a benefit to washing your face with raw & unfiltered honey? I learned in the book The Honey Revolution that it’s a great natural cleanser and PH balancer. I’ve been washing my face with raw honey now for 2 years and love it- but would like to know you & Dr Teo’s thoughts on that 2) what effect does chlorine have on competitive swimmers and what can be done to offset the negative effects of constant chlorine exposure? 3) are there any negative (short or long term) effects of permanent hair removal by laser, both if it is done professionally and/or with a handheld laser removal. I’ve seen this as a growing trend, curious on its effects on the skin or below the skin. Thank you!

I was surprised by that too. However, I’m so grateful for the opportunity to hear Dr. Teo’s opinion and find relief in that great skincare doesn’t have to be expensive. Still, I think there are much better options than petroleum-based skincare.
Thank you for this episode!!! I want to write a comment on ROSACEA and ECZEMA. I hope this may help someone! I have lived with it for 30 years and I am 65 years old now. I don´t have to do anything else than avoid severe stress. Neither alcohol nor spices nor any kinds of food trigger an outbreak! The rosacea may become a little worse, but just a little. I use only water to rinse my face. I have had real outbreaks because of difficulties in life: when my mother got brain cancer I got 30 pimples every day and my forehead was completely covered. Afterwards it totally disappeared! In the beginning when my boy friend was hostile towards my daughter the whole breast region looked like a red "cake". When things worked out it disappeared! After my boyfriend died and I chose a wrong partner, rosacea broke out terribly. My nose was red-violet and my face was completely full of bad pimples. Just one thought could trigger one pimple in seconds. When I broke up with him the rosacea disappeared totally. I have experienced this several times (I have a kind of extreme claustrophobia when I get together with the wrong partner, so I may get 40 in fever and become very stressed). Now I am a bit stressed because of minor things in life and I get pimples from time to time, but not a real breakout. That´s a big difference! This is not research, just long experience. I use "Finacea" cream if I get a pimple. If I am relaxed and my life is good, I have no signs of neither rosacea nor eczema!

I grew up in Eastern Europe i remember women did not have access to a lot of expensive creams and yet had beautiful skin my grandma had no lines and some will say genetics well whatever it was one thing they did NOT do is wear skin makeup. Creams were natural basic people especially loved creams with chamomile ,rose or nettles. They loved cucumber as mask for cleanser the most basic soap was popular / Nivea and Oil of Olay was a luxury (the original creams) not the versions we see now, another one was Johnson and Johnson also a luxury for most :)))😊However despite of all women used to see Estheticians on regular basis , facials were incredibly popular and steaming with herbs. Those Estheticians were walking encyclopedias when it came to skin care and they always knew what to do.
I have to say because it is being discussed here --- when I changed my diet and began supplementing, I got rid of my hormonal acne, eczema, and psoriasis, and most of my keratosis pilaris cleared up. My diet is meat, sea food, fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds, healthy fats, herbs and spices. I consume 1.5 cups of kimchi everyday (homemade kimchi), 1.5 cups of either beans, lentils, or chickpeas, 1.2-1.5 g of protein per kg of body weight, 30-35 different plant foods per week, and mostly organic (no glyphosate or atrazine). I would like to know if there are any studies on the relationship between basil cell carcinoma and omega 3 either through supplementation or comparing the ratio of omega 3 to 6.

Awesome info, thank you very much. I found the Polypodium supplementation fascinating, along with many other components of this episode (and of course many other episodes). I’d love to hear an episode that dives deep into auto-immune disease specific protocols for Lupus or Rheumatoid-Arthritis for many of the items discussed on your podcasts such as diet, exercise, cold therapy, sauna, light therapy, sleep, supplementation, hormones, or reproductive organs affects, etc. This seems to be an area with a long history, but still a lot of confusion, with great emerging studies and information that could benefit a lot of people.

An episode on diabetes would be very useful for me and I am sure for many others. I listened to so many discussions about diet and exercise on this podcast but I was unable to select the information that was useful for me (type 1 diabetes). And to add to the confusion, there is contradictory information on the best dietary approach for diabetes sufferers. Some clarity on these topics would be very helpful to me, thank you.

I regularly listen to your podcasts and this one as most are very beneficial and informative. This one though at one point when Dr Sol promotes his Sun Powder is disappointing. His product does seem to contain a few items that are not the best ingredients to consume.
This information is excellent and truly enlightening. Many people, including myself, have feared the sun because some dermatologists on UA-cam promote and recommend excessive sunscreen use. Sometimes it seems obsessive, such as applying sunscreen indoors or even on your toes just because you might be wearing sandals that day. Sunscreen is important, but using it to that extent is concerning.
I think "the bane of my existence" is the best way to describe melasma. It has completely taken the fun out of my summers... I come from a Greek island and up until I got melasma, I would spend my summer days outdoors either jogging or swimming. Now I can't do any of those things. All I do is sit in the shade, wear a big-ass hat all the time and reapply sunscreen every hour like a maniac. I also take a supplement similar to the one mentioned in the video and of course use all sorts of topical creams and lotions to keep melasma in check. Melasma sucks and I wish I had never got it. I want my summers back 😢
Definitely! I used to have melasma all over my neck, despite the sunscreen (and perhaps because of). Now im 58 and i have literally none, anywhere. I cycle outside and garden a lot, without sunscreen. I think hormones have a lot to do with it. @@annalinacifani1280
@@annalinacifani1280 thank you for your comment! My melasma was most likely triggered by the pill. I only went on it for a couple months in an effort to fix another problem I had, but I guess it was enough to mess with my hormones and cause me more problems in the end 😭
@@rouna07 same happened to me many years ago. Caused more problems, including melasma. Mine finally cleared, but it did take years. I hope for you, it is a speedier process.
Enjoyed this podcast. Would love to have one on working out for senior women. I am in my early 70'sand go to the gym 4-5 times weekly. Love to work out with weights, HIIT classes and stretching and mobility. Need to learn about it, since many personal trainers are not used to work out with seniors.
Wonderful episode. For acne - there is something other than medication and over the counter chemicals. Reestablish skin microbiome. Balancing pH and competitive inhibition + real food with lower sugar /carb load. Wash face with neutral soap (as you said Dove), wash with plain yogurt with Bifido and L.acidophilus. e.g. Nancy's organic kefir (this contains probiotics BB12 and LA5) or Stonyfield probiotic (Bifidobacterium BB12), keep on the face for 1 min, rinse with lukewarm water, tap dry and apply lotion that is not harsh antibacterial. L.acidophilus LA-5 produce bacteriocin and works against Propionibacteria that cause acne. I would like to hear Teo's opinion about it.

Wow, such an awesome interview . Teo gave so much information to help save everyone money. The pharma companies know how important skin appearance is to everyone . They use that to make a great deal of money . I am lucky to have good skin , I also do not smoke or drink so that has helped. Will definitely look forward to Teo returning as a guest . Just finished the episode and it was fantastically informative. Next time you talk with Dr. Soleymani I would love to hear his take on Vitamin C and its effects on the skin. A lot of research has supported that it can potentially protect against sun damage. After hearing about the supplement for UV protection, I wonder that if Vitamin C is beneficial for the skin the way it's purported, would a Vitamin C supplement be better than topical application? And is there any real difference between the $185 topical Vitamin C and the $15 Vitamin C products? Thanks so much!
It was great to listen to dr. Soleymani. I was however very disappointed that you didn't ask him about hidradenitis supporativa. It is quite common disease, very painful and debilitating, worse than psoriasis.
Hi, I"m Spanish and I take Heliocare that has polypodium. I take it in spring or summer time. It was recommended to me by my company doctor because I developed a sun allergy that gave me hives the first times I sunbathed during those seasons and I don't get them anymore, I don't get a sunburn as easily and it prolongues my tan. By the way I love your UA-cam channel and podcasts!!

I read that caffeine depletes collagen 😢 I stopped consuming 2-3 cups a day to just 1 small cup a day and I've noticed a huge difference in my skin by cutting back on caffeine.
caffeine interferes with our precious collagen, by inhibiting an enzyme called prolidase, which plays a key role in collagen synthesis. So caffeine is a collagen killer and we should steer clear? Not exactly. "It's worth remembering that coffee doesn’t destroy collagen, it inhibits its production,"

Yess!!! And the connection between different types of birth control and acne, and perhaps if acne can be mitigated even when on progestin-only types of birth control
If anyone is struggling with acne, know that it can very likely get better naturally (without prescriptions), if you want to take that route! It was a multi-month process of detoxification for me but adjusting my diet to remove my inflammatory triggers (for me it’s milk, dairy, and processed sugar) and support your microbiome and liver. I used to have ~20 large cystic pustules on my face at one time, and now, after the help of a functional medicine doctor, I’m completely clear without any prescriptions! Plus my digestion and energy levels are better with these dietary changes too!

@@Joannabanana1989 I dont have enough experience with serums. I mainly try to avoid harmful chemicals rather than having experience with what works. Try to stay natural meaning understanding the ingredients lists as much as possible and avoiding scented stuff. I react poorly to lots of additives in products. You sound like you have a good base and thats where I focus. Diet, lifestyle stress among many other things seem to be best. Im sure there is gonna be advancements in DNA and but thats beyond me. Personally I agree with where you are researching and Im right there with you and this Dr pretty much said everything I know and lots more.

I would LOVE an entire episode on acne!
I went to a rheumatologist for my psoriatic arthritis last year. It had gotten so bad in my knees that I was limping. Doc was quick to prescribe medicine with a long list of negative side effects. He spoke of no other means of remedy. My wife (a dietitian) wasn't a fan of the visit. She recommended that I first eliminate sugars, gluten, processed foods, and alcohol (basically follow a Paleo diet) and try to better monitor my stress (practice mindfulness and exercise.) I did all of that and within just a few weeks my symptoms improved significantly. A year has passed and I feel fantastic.
Moral of the story - Eat clean and be merry. It'll do the body good.
There is no such thing as „eating clean“. Your body is likely reacting to one or more of the foods you cut out.
You can eat as „clean“ as you like, if your immune system reacts to the „clean“ food, you will still have a bad time. So it makes more sense to try an elimination diet than to just cut out everything (unless you do not mind losing a lot of weight and possibly missing nutrients).

well, he did peddle his sun powder and talked about collagen yet his has a fraction of the collagen powders. you buy. I take 15g daily, I believe his has like 125 mg, hardly worth throwing it in there.

Honestly guys, I have found that drinking a lot of Japanese matcha (no milk or dairy involved) and green tea daily really helps skin and complexion

It’s fine because it works for you, but beware people who are prone to anemia because caffeine prevents iron absorption. Also no point drinking a dehydrating substance like caffeine if you’re not compensating by drinking plenty of water. Also tea can degrade your enamel. So beware. Don’t take one anecdote from UA-cam comments and think it’s a miracle cure for you.

I would just like to mention that when you go out in sunlight , covering up to prevent the short wave UV damage, you are still having the longer wave length red light , particularly near infra red light, penetrating deeply and causing beneficial effects, e.g. activation of mitochondria. This may be what is making you feel better, both physically and mentally.

and i wanna explain my journey. maybe it works for even 1 person to get rid of the acne. cause acne and having a bad skin, effects on your confident.
first of all, before every thing that you wanna do for your skin, please do a blood test. and by this test, you know your hormone problems.
its a significant part of your journey.
(i mean more important than every thing!)
after that you should stop eating sugar and snacks.
and you can replace more water and fruits. and eating herbs with your dinner and lunch.
after that, if you have oily skin like me, you should keep your skin clean.
and use the gentle cleanser (harsh cleanser make your skin worse) moisturizer (if you have oily skin, use the kind of moisturizer that they based on water and not so much greasy when you use it) and sunscreen.
this three products are necessary that you wanna a clean skin without acne.
reduce your stress. and if you are a girl, don't use foundation (especially heavy creams and oily and greasy creams).
go to clinics and tell your problems for Dr.
and for your redness, you should use the moisturizer and sunscreen and drink a lot of water. i promise you, it get better.
and some times squeeze the sour lemon on your food.
take tablets to balance your hormones.
don't smoke, don't drink alcohol.
love your self, it takes time. but after two month you see the big result.
keep going and do all of my advices.
don't give up.
just do it.

I havent seen it in the comments or summary, both excercise and cold exposure are excellent for circulation in the entire body, exercise also to detoxify. Diet is extremely important; lots of fruits and veggies and heavy on the greens. Your skin will show your health.
Learned a lot from this conversation! The approach of this dermatologist is very holistic unlike some dermatologist whose advice includes "taking health risks to maximize esthetics". his approach is more holistic, "prioritizing health of the skin and body" over: "adding to your toxins load to maximize short term skin glow" (the commercial advice).

I wanted to pick up on his comment on using red light on before UV exposure, and how it mitigates damage - this speaks to getting early AM light , which is high in red light as protocol to help ward against UV damage later in the day.
1:16:07 I am sorry but this advice is not widespread to all contexts. In europe there are already pleanty sunscreen filters that are not absorve or minimaly absorved. It is only in the USA that the old sunscreen filters still compose the majority of sunscreen protection. If you are in the USA and you don't have access to European approve filters, try to buy La roche posay sunscreen with Meroryl SX and XL. This 2 filters don't have any major side effects associated with them. If you in Europe, look for ultra broadspectrum sunscreen like Avene containing Triasorb or the La roche posay UVmune line, this sunscreens protects against the longest wave UVA spectrum.
This guest easily confirmed Dr. Huberman's (US-centric) biases against chemical sunscreens and in favor of mineral sunscreens, without discussing important regional differences.
For example:
- The EU treats sunscreens as cosmetics, allowing for quicker approval times.
- The FDA treats sunscreens as OTC drugs, requiring extensive testing.
- The FDA hasn't approved a new type of sunscreen since 1999.
- The EU has approved 27 active ingredients for sunscreens.
- The EU regulates maximum concentration of these ingredients based on scientifically estimated safety levels.
When examining potential dangers, issues can be found even in mineral sunscreen formulations, such as the use of butyloctyl salicylate (BOS) for texture and appearance improvement.
While I'm not an expert in this field, it seems clear that important information, especially opposing viewpoints, is often overlooked when drawing conclusions on the sensitive topic of sunscreens.

The majority are not water proof and have low UVA protection. Some Korean brands are starting to include Meroxyl filters in their formulations (round lab dokdo), which is cool. 2) what effect does chlorine have on competitive swimmers and what can be done to offset the negative effects of constant chlorine exposure?

Thank you for this episode!!! I want to write a comment on ROSACEA and ECZEMA. I hope this may help someone! I have lived with it for 30 years and I am 65 years old now. I don´t have to do anything else than avoid severe stress. Neither alcohol nor spices nor any kinds of food trigger an outbreak! The rosacea may become a little worse, but just a little. I use only water to rinse my face. I have had real outbreaks because of difficulties in life: when my mother got brain cancer I got 30 pimples every day and my forehead was completely covered. Afterwards it totally disappeared! In the beginning when my boy friend was hostile towards my daughter the whole breast region looked like a red "cake". When things worked out it disappeared! After my boyfriend died and I chose a wrong partner, rosacea broke out terribly. My nose was red-violet and my face was completely full of bad pimples. Just one thought could trigger one pimple in seconds. When I broke up with him the rosacea disappeared totally. I have experienced this several times (I have a kind of extreme claustrophobia when I get together with the wrong partner, so I may get 40 in fever and become very stressed). Now I am a bit stressed because of minor things in life and I get pimples from time to time, but not a real breakout. That´s a big difference! This is not research, just long experience. I use "Finacea" cream if I get a pimple. If I am relaxed and my life is good, I have no signs of neither rosacea nor eczema!

I grew up in Eastern Europe i remember women did not have access to a lot of expensive creams and yet had beautiful skin my grandma had no lines and some will say genetics well whatever it was one thing they did NOT do is wear skin makeup. Creams were natural basic people especially loved creams with chamomile ,rose or nettles. They loved cucumber as mask for cleanser the most basic soap was popular / Nivea and Oil of Olay was a luxury (the original creams) not the versions we see now, another one was Johnson and Johnson also a luxury for most :)))😊However despite of all women used to see Estheticians on regular basis , facials were incredibly popular and steaming with herbs. Those Estheticians were walking encyclopedias when it came to skin care and they always knew what to do.
I have to say because it is being discussed here --- when I changed my diet and began supplementing, I got rid of my hormonal acne, eczema, and psoriasis, and most of my keratosis pilaris cleared up. My diet is meat, sea food, fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds, healthy fats, herbs and spices. I consume 1.5 cups of kimchi everyday (homemade kimchi), 1.5 cups of either beans, lentils, or chickpeas, 1.2-1.5 g of protein per kg of body weight, 30-35 different plant foods per week, and mostly organic (no glyphosate or atrazine).
I would like to know if there are any studies on the relationship between basil cell carcinoma and omega 3 either through supplementation or comparing the ratio of omega 3 to 6.

I found the Polypodium supplementation fascinating, along with many other components of this episode (and of course many other episodes).
I’d love to hear an episode that dives deep into auto-immune disease specific protocols for Lupus or Rheumatoid-Arthritis for many of the items discussed on your podcasts such as diet, exercise, cold therapy, sauna, light therapy, sleep, supplementation, hormones, or reproductive organs affects, etc.
This seems to be an area with a long history, but still a lot of confusion, with great emerging studies and information that could benefit a lot of people.
Dr. Huberman, it would be nice to have a podcast with Dr. Mike Mew, discussion the structure of the face and what influences it, thank you!
I'd love to see an episode, or maybe even a series, on vision therapy if you haven't done one already.

An episode on diabetes would be very useful for me and I am sure for many others. I listened to so many discussions about diet and exercise on this podcast but I was unable to select the information that was useful for me (type 1 diabetes). And to add to the confusion, there is contradictory information on the best dietary approach for diabetes sufferers. Some clarity on these topics would be very helpful to me, thank you.

I regularly listen to your podcasts and this one as most are very beneficial and informative. This one though at one point when Dr Sol promotes his Sun Powder is disappointing. His product does seem to contain a few items that are not the best ingredients to consume.
This information is excellent and truly enlightening. Many people, including myself, have feared the sun because some dermatologists on UA-cam promote and recommend excessive sunscreen use. Sometimes it seems obsessive, such as applying sunscreen indoors or even on your toes just because you might be wearing sandals that day. Sunscreen is important, but using it to that extent is concerning.

I think "the bane of my existence" is the best way to describe melasma. It has completely taken the fun out of my summers... I come from a Greek island and up until I got melasma, I would spend my summer days outdoors either jogging or swimming. Now I can't do any of those things. All I do is sit in the shade, wear a big-ass hat all the time and reapply sunscreen every hour like a maniac. I also take a supplement similar to the one mentioned in the video and of course use all sorts of topical creams and lotions to keep melasma in check. Melasma sucks and I wish I had never got it. I want my summers back 😢
Only a suggestion, but could hormones be playing a part? Their levels may be different than when you were younger.
Definitely! I used to have melasma all over my neck, despite the sunscreen (and perhaps because of). Now im 58 and i have literally none, anywhere. I cycle outside and garden a lot, without sunscreen. I think hormones have a lot to do with it. @@annalinacifani1280
I'm lucky that way but you should follow Penn Smith and Platinum skincare. They seem to have a good handle on it.
@@annalinacifani1280 thank you for your comment! My melasma was most likely triggered by the pill. I only went on it for a couple months in an effort to fix another problem I had, but I guess it was enough to mess with my hormones and cause me more problems in the end 😭
@@rouna07 same happened to me many years ago. Caused more problems, including melasma. Mine finally cleared, but it did take years. I hope for you, it is a speedier process.
Enjoyed this podcast. Would love to have one on working out for senior women. I am in my early 70'sand go to the gym 4-5 times weekly. Love to work out with weights, HIIT classes and stretching and mobility. Need to learn about it, since many personal trainers are not used to work out with seniors.

For acne - there is something other than medication and over the counter chemicals. Reestablish skin microbiome.
Balancing pH and competitive inhibition + real food with lower sugar /carb load.
Wash face with neutral soap (as you said Dove), wash with plain yogurt with Bifido and L.acidophilus. e.g. Nancy's organic kefir (this contains probiotics BB12 and LA5) or Stonyfield probiotic (Bifidobacterium BB12), keep on the face for 1 min, rinse with lukewarm water, tap dry and apply lotion that is not harsh antibacterial. L.acidophilus LA-5 produce bacteriocin and works against Propionibacteria that cause acne.
I would like to hear Teo's opinion about it.

Since blood flow is such an important factor, I'm very curious how things like heat/cold exposure, as well as breathing exercises like Wim Hof method can help.
Wow, such an awesome interview . Teo gave so much information to help save everyone money. The pharma companies know how important skin appearance is to everyone . They use that to make a great deal of money . I am lucky to have good skin , I also do not smoke or drink so that has helped. Will definitely look forward to Teo returning as a guest .

Just finished the episode and it was fantastically informative. Next time you talk with Dr. Soleymani I would love to hear his take on Vitamin C and its effects on the skin. A lot of research has supported that it can potentially protect against sun damage. After hearing about the supplement for UV protection, I wonder that if Vitamin C is beneficial for the skin the way it's purported, would a Vitamin C supplement be better than topical application? And is there any real difference between the $185 topical Vitamin C and the $15 Vitamin C products? Thanks so much!
It was great to listen to dr. Soleymani. I was however very disappointed that you didn't ask him about hidradenitis supporativa. It is quite common disease, very painful and debilitating, worse than psoriasis.

Hi, I"m Spanish and I take Heliocare that has polypodium. I take it in spring or summer time. It was recommended to me by my company doctor because I developed a sun allergy that gave me hives the first times I sunbathed during those seasons and I don't get them anymore, I don't get a sunburn as easily and it prolongues my tan. By the way I love your UA-cam channel and podcasts!!

I read that caffeine depletes collagen 😢 I stopped consuming 2-3 cups a day to just 1 small cup a day and I've noticed a huge difference in my skin by cutting back on caffeine.
caffeine interferes with our precious collagen, by inhibiting an enzyme called prolidase, which plays a key role in collagen synthesis.
So caffeine is a collagen killer and we should steer clear? Not exactly. "It's worth remembering that coffee doesn’t destroy collagen, it inhibits its production,"

Especially this skin episode I found very interesting as I work on skin daily: I own a salon to remove hair. And actually I think it would be very interesting to hear science based information about hair removal: people have done this since more than 2000 years ago. So it’s in the interest of many people. Why do we have hair, is it functional? And does it cause damage somehow when you remove it permanently? I would love to know more about this.
