Something that always confused me about UMVC3 is that in the opening cinematic there's a shot where Deadpool is flying around on Phoenix Wright's Objection sign but what confuses me is that are rivals in UMVC3 because Phoenix Wright and Deadpool are nothing alike in terms of character personality or is the joke is that Deadpool is breaking the 4th wall.
Probably the latter. Deadpool's probably the only Marvel character they could've reasonably got away with for that specific gag outside of maybe She-Hulk.

I saw a comment I liked on an upload of the soundtrack that said something along the lines of Deadpool's theme's lyrics being about how his father would scold him as a kid. His theme is mostly stuff like "do not watch. do not touch. don't be fool. go to school. do not lie. do not do it, never do it". "Please don't mess about, in my house in my house" And that interpretation actually does a really good job of making sense of the lyrics. It makes me picture seeing things from the perspective a naughty kid who doesn't follow any authority figures and who keeps breaking vases and being a yelling nuisance on other people's property, which is a really weird but direct approach to making a theme for Deadpool.
When I imagine that this could have been "making a song for a character who is intentionally meant to be really annoying", this could easily have ended up sounding really annoying. I like this direction because at worst the lyrics are incomprehensible, but in a way where they still work with everything around them.
That combo with the taunt button and the teleport misfire is one of those combos where if someone hits that, you give them the game out of respect. Straight up “I could never do something that cool, that’s totally fair, shake my hand.”

I just noticed that aside from she hulk no one else has direct interactions with Deadpool, yeah sure DP has a lot to say to others but almost no one says anything back to him.
This might be a stretch, but I'm pretty sure Deadpool's theme is supposed to be meta. It's a song sung about singing a song, much like how Deadpool is comic book character who's all about knowing that he's a comic book character.
As far as I know, the dev team went with Marrow because they wanted a young female Marvel character, and Marrow was the one they thought they could do the most with. Deadpool didn't start becoming known to non comic book readers until the mid 2000s or so; Given when MvC2 released, had they gone with him instead of Marrow, his inclusion arguably would've confused just as many people as Marrow did.
It's actually exclusive to UMVC3! He has a unique win quote in vanilla MvC3 for Spencer that displays properly (Which I'm now realizing I forgot to include in the video...)
