Thanks Emz, I was saying to the lads that night when you are out with your mates on a mini explore adventure, life doesn’t get much finer. Almost nowt better. Great little area to explore, not too far from green carts quarry either. Cheers, Graham 👍👍👍
Quality video Graham. Loved the ‘Sycamore Gap - The early years’ mate😂 Your setup looked good too, nice views! I enjoy the occasional cigar as a bit of a treat as well, lovely with a couple of drams. Cheers mate, atb👍🏻😄
Thanks very much Mark, I reckon the occasional cigar and dram is the mark of a gentleman, which we all are, of course! Smoking a pipe and watching the sun set from a hill/ these are the fine things in life Cheers marra 👍👍
Hi Graham 👍 Love the mesh tent and tarp setup super light and the next best thing to just laying in the grass minus the bugs of course 🙏🏼😊 Best wishes Simon 🙏🏼🙏🏼⛰👍
Great video Graham. The views were stunning. Never been to Haughton Green looks great and the little spot you found looks ideal for a Hammock Camp. (I have back and abdominal issues and the platforms kill me) 😫😫😫 Spent two nights at roughside a while back. First night i slept in a chair in my sleeping bag, second night i strung my hammock up in the top left room and slept like a baby 😴😴 You obviously don't have to say where you parked but did it cost anything
Hi Derek, there is a small permissive carpark about 4 miles away next to a farm- doesn’t cost anything at the moment. We were looking at the rafters in the bothy and it may be possible to hammock inside if it’s not too full- can’t guarantee those nails and hooks would hold though! Not too hard to find a place to hammock outside though. Thanks for watching- much appreciated and ATB, Graham 👍👍
Great location, very surprised you had it all to yourselves. I'm not a tent dweller because of the enclosed experience, could easily get used to the mesh tent and tarp setup. Regarding tripods for your Gopro, I'm using an Ulanzi MT-16 Extendable Selfie Stick/Tripod for my Osmo Action. Its a cross between a selfie stick and tripod. The tripod base is small when fully extended but ok for the weight of an action cam. What I like about it, has a metal ball head so camera is locked solid and being telescopic, you can extend the height of the tripod so you can film above long grass etc. It has a cold shoe mount on the side for a microphone or light, which won't interfere with the wide angle of the camera lens. Its really well made and I only paid £20 for it.
We were surprised that no-one turned up to the bothy as well, it was a beautiful weekend day at a bothy on the Pennine Way- and the vistitor book shows it is well used. I really liked the set-up, great for good weather but the tarp I used was too small really, in future I'd use a standard DD 3x3. Thanks for the tripod recomendation, it looks good. Cheers and thanks for watching Damian 👍👍
Hello, I'm from Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺 I so like your video.Graham you and your friends, and your lovely dog, didn't catch his name. This is the first one I have seen, so will keep a look out for your next one.
Absolutely fantastic video Graham. I'm originally from the village of Wark and know the area well but I've never stayed at Haughtongreen Bothy. We are planning to use it as a stopping point with our Explorers as part of the DofE expedition as they hike from Plankey Mill to Bellingham via lots of Hadrians Wall. We were supposed to go Hammock Camping on Friday with our Scouts, 1st Eppleton (Hetton le Hole) but cancelled the session at the last minute due to the thunder and lightning that was forecast. Turned out to be the right decision as it was really bad down here. Thanks as always for great videos and I look forward to your next instalment.
Thanks very much for your words Simon. The area round haughtongreen would seem ideal for explorers as a lot of the ground is very campable and there is a fresh water spring near the bothy in the field below marked by a white stick. We were lucky to avoid the thunderstorms on Saturday but the bothy was always a good bailout option. Hope your next expedition goes as planned, ATVB, Graham 👍
Great vid Graham, Burger looked fantastic good idea for my next night out. Why is your mate called Silky i have allways wondered and i reckon all your other subs have too.
I’ve just asked Nick if I can disclose how he got his nickname and he said ‘keep em guessing’ 😂 Tell you what though, if we ever bump into each other on a hill I’ll let you know. Thanks very much for watching Mark, much appreciated 👍👍👍
Cracking bothy, nice walk in not to hilly ! Like the set up, I have used a midge net over a mat under the tarp but it’s not rigid like your mesh inner, would the mesh inner be big enough ? Enlighten me, could you fit a 6,3” camper on a 7 cm mat without touching both ends ? They do as x/l mesh but it’s more space reqd as you get bigger; I reckon I will find rhubarb in you rucksack Keep em coming
Hi Adrian, the DD pyramid tent size wise is ok for me but I’m only 5’6”. If you were think of getting one I’d definitely recommend the XL. It’s a neat bit of kit though. Rhubarb in the rucksack? Lol 😂 - but I am genuinely curious why someone keeps leaving it up on Simonside. Thanks very much for watching 👍👍
Great video ty. Got this location on my hit list for next week hopefully 👍. Can I ask if I'll find a spot to pitch my vango banshee close by and out of view? Bit concerned that the bothy might be full. Regards Ian
Hi, yeah, it’s actually one of the better bothies in Northumberland for pitching nearby. You won’t have to go far to pitch and the whole area has a pretty discrete. Tent shouldn’t be a problem. Enjoy the trip. ATB, Graham

What a lovely video. Beautiful place with the option of a bothy stay or camping. Good food good drink and good craic. Living life ✨️

@@grahamswildcamping Thanks for your swift reply . Always good to hear from someone who has sussed out an area previously 👍
Hi Graham, can i ask where did you park your car to get to the bothy?
Can you DM me through my Instagram account? I want to keep it a semi-secret👍
Hi Graham. Great video. I've been a couple of times and much prefer your route. Where do you park of you don't mind me asking
