Wild Camp Northumberland.
Hello!
Just me and my friends hiking to wild and lonely places to sleep under starlight. We camp mainly in Northumberland because that's where we live, one of England's fantastic counties with endless moor and forest and the wonderful Cheviot Hills. We camp, we hammock, we bivvy and we bothy. Love it all!
Thank you everyone!

A trip to Spithope Bothy and a pitch in the (semi) Secret Crags #wildcampinguk #northumberland
A smashing little camp with another Northumbrian wildcamper who I met for the first time:
The Backpacking Geordie, catch his channel at:
@thebackingpackinggeordie
We met in one of Northumberlands finest bothies (Spithope) and then hiked on to a fantastic spot, which has become more popular recently but looks like it has been well respected and looked after by the wild campers who visit there.
Dinner was fried halloumi in a wrap with rocket and mint and a beetroot puree. Much better than it sounds.
I'm not mentioning the crags by name but you probably know where!
Check out this rather nice channel as well:
@HardyTempestsWildCampsandWalks
Brilliantly atmospheric videos with a flavour quite unlike Northumberland

Scottish Borders Wild Camping inspired by ‘Black Hag’ beer | Cheviot Hills | Nordisk Telemark 1
Переглядів 71121 день тому
The Cheviot Brewery does a rich oatmeal stout called "Black Hag" after a remote summit on the Scottish/ Northumbrian border. What better place could there be to enjoy beer than the place it was named after? I couldn't find an easy route up and by the time we got to Black Nag itself, we felt we were well deserving of the beer Accompanied by Adrian and Shaun Mac @northumberlandmountainhopper @mac...

I've been meaning to explore this area for a while, It's relatively untravelled and studying the map there looked to be some interesting crags, waterfalls and unnamed structures littering this moor on the very edge of England. It looked a great place for wild camping My companion in explorating for the night was @northumberlandmountainhopper who was trying out a new tarp configuration. 00:00 Bi...

Is this the best tent for UK wild camping? FJERN GOKOTTA 1

I've had the fjern gokotta tent for a few months now, long enough to give it a fair review. It is a really good tent (especially at sale price) but like all other tents, has one or two minor annoyances! It really fits my style of wildcamping though: does it fit yours? Wild camping in ancient northumbrian history | fjern gokotta | #wildcampinguk #wildcamping #hiking

A fabulous area with neolithic burial cairns, hill forts, abandoned farms and prehistoric rock art. One visit can never be enough and I will keep coming back to this area, rich in history, where the ancient past seems closer to the present than normal. I took the fjern gokotta 1, a tent that's not perfect but I seem to be getting on very well with it. Fishfinger sandwiches were also spot on, ha...

Preferred 1st bothy but then again the 2nd bothy had more character. After that dream. I think you woke up and it was a pie in your rucksack tugging its way to your mouth lol... 3rd bothy looked good. Nice noodle scram. 4th bothy my least fav looking inside. Nothing Wong about Chinese noodles. Good 4 day walk. Treat yourself to a full fried breakfast not McDonalds shite.
Loved the idea of the vid Graham, that's a nice tip of the hat to the Black Hag beer - which I've not had the pleasure of sampling yet. But christ - what a slog up! I'd have given in and pitched up well before hitting that hill 😂 it's a lovely area though, remote and peaceful, and bogy. I do love that Nordisk Telemark, it's an absolute stunner, but sadly not my type of tent, but I do like seeing other people out in theirs, it's very photogenic. Appreciate the mention, thank you 😊 Adrian's tarp set-up was very tasty, but obviously the star of the show was Shaun's Mountain Star, what a good looking beast of a tent! Mention to Shaun that if he pitches it Red, White and Blue, then he should have a nice erection in under 5 minutes. Thread the red pole, then the white pole, then fully attach the blue pole in both grommets - which opens out the tent upper, then secure the red and white poles in their respective grommets, it's as easy as that. Great vid, as always, atb DVS :)
When I went up there there was a hole in the ground near the cairn that looked like a cyst. Did you see it? Great vid and nice to see Adrian out as well 😊
The waterfall is Chattlehope Spout... it is very very boggy getting to it and to make that worse, it is best seen in spate (which I've not managed yet because the terrain is really boggy). There are wild goats there too. If you are interested in trying to reach it some time, then you are better off going up Girdle Fell. I can't remember seeing anywhere you could pitch though. There's plenty of flat ground, just a lack of dry ground. You could possibly do a bivvy at the Girdle Stone if you really wanted to stop the night there. The ruined cottages are likely shepherd shiels or shooting huts rather than permanent residences. However, there was mining activity in the area nearer the border. I've thought about going to check it out, but it is an incredibly remote area... it is one of those places where the remoteness starts playing on your mind when out by yourself... 'if I have an injury, will anyone be able to find me' type of place. Carter Pike though is a great little hill. Fabulous views for very little effort. Thank you for taking us along on your adventure.
As usual cracking video, glad to hear the dreams are as surreal as always 😂
Haha, thank you! I love those dreams 😂
What a lovely evening walk in you had on this vid Graham, from the drone shot it looked like an extinct volcano. Spithope looked tidy too hopefully we can join you on the next one!
@@nickpotts4511 thanks Nick, yes, let’s make some plans
Hi Graham 😊 Your video is amazing! I'm wild camping at Sandwood Bay tomorrow.. where abouts did you lot camp?? 🤔
Hi, we crossed the outflow of the loch and found some beautiful flat pitches nearby, but the whole area is so fantastic you’ll be spoiled for choice. Have a great night! Best wishes, Graham
Did you pick any mushrooms mate??🤔
Hahaha! I see what your saying but no, just the beer 😂👍
Love your description of the IPA 😉😉
Thank you- I do like a good beer review on a wild camp 😂Best wishes, Graham 👍
Oh my gosh! My name being spoken out loud in the Cheviot hills and crags are the closest any part of me will ever be in your beautiful England or Scotland. I was truly stunned and I felt honored. Thank you Graham.
Glad you caught the shout-out! That's a particularly nice bit of the Cheviots and it's an open secret amongst wild campers now but not many folk, even from Northumberland have ever been I suppose. Best wishes! Graham 👍
Cracking video lads . Great to see a good collaboration video .
Thank you, first time I met Phil and was good craic. Cheers, G 👍👍
Cracking video... 2 fantastic locations Nice watch too 😅... got one recently and it's a dream for long distance treks Those Ferns are painful, I've got a black dog so I spend hours checking him after those 🙄
Thanks very much. It was actually Phil’s video review that persuaded me to get the garmin: no regrets, it’s a good watch. My poor dog gets plenty of ticks too, it’s a nightmare these days. TFW! All the best, G 👍
Loved the beer review, another great video.
Thanks very much, love doing the beer reviews 😂, all the best, G 👍

Another sweet outing Graham looks stunning. You can't beat a veggie meal from time to time and that looked tasty. Talking of the Evel Knevial bike. I had the step on it Barry Sheen one
Barry Sheen! The old heroes! Aye, the halloumi and beetroot made a nice change but I might be back to sausages for the next one, ATB, Graham 👍

It’s cracking isn’t it? Cheers 👋
Canny spot it is. Sadly I didn't make it to the crag the other month, had to nake the smart decision and take shelter in the bothy
@@ChrisPaul1892 was that because of the weather? The bothy is a fine consolation prize though, excellent little place 👍

Nice video again Graham. Yep, you're right about not naming the site, the way things are going we're going to have to ask Northumberland Wildcampers to administrate a booking system for each pitch.😂😂
@@steverobertson7301 certainly popular isn’t it? I was pleased to see it still looks good though, hopefully respectful campers only manage to get there 👍

I’ve got a few Hillebergs but my go to tent for winter camping is my Akto, double poled it’s a bomb shelter, I use 10 inch steel pegs for mine and it’s never let me down in the hardest of storms, zips rattling is another story 😊😊😎😎🍺🍺
That’s good to hear, especially if you’ve got the experience to compare it to other Hilleberg text tents. I reckon I can put up with a bit of rattling for all that security, after all earplugs are pretty cheap 👍👍
Love that spot so nearly camped there last year, hopefully this winter. You up for it? Cheers for the shoutout mate.

Hi Graham, love the video. Quick question, do you have the location for the ruined cottage (map co-ordinates / what 3 words) and where is the best place to park as I’ll be travelling over. Cheers
Hiya, I’m not too keen on giving coordinates in public but just DM me (use Instagram or the email address on my UA-cam page) and I’ll help you out. I would say be very careful at the cottage, as it’s very close to MOD land and after I come for another wild camper, got in touch to say they were questioned by military police when they were up there, ATB, Graham 👍
