      You´re right, it shows it isn´t about "having everything" but more likely about overcoming obstacles.
      As someone mentioned in comment above - I think that everybody should live in far more demanding conditions for a while to change his perspective on world around him and life values. Anyway that´s a reason I like travelling.

Being there 20 years alone, he doesnt wantt to admit and cant, must be utterly frustrating, thats why sadly he mainly thinks about "going" to better place

    Amazing person. I came across the guy once while walking around Lake Baikal in 2013. Anatoliy was his name and I have spent a night in his house, similar to the one in the video. Anatoliy lives in the most remote part of the lakeshore, it took me around 2 months to reach that place. At that point, he lived there for 52 years already, rarely meeting with other people, unless a boat with tourists came around. Anatoliy has frostbites on all his fingers which are almost completely gone. The area contains one of the biggest populations of brown bears and every night they come around the house, not to damage or look for food. I think they just come to wind him up as he is a part of nature there. There were claw marks all over the house but no damage. At night there was a lot of growling around. Very simple person and very friendly. He told me the story about himself and how he ended up there. As a young man (20 YO) he was already an alcoholic and during the winter in Listvianka, he and his mate went drunk outside. His friend died that night frozen to death and Anatoliy was found almost frozen, lost all his fingers and almost his arm. He decided to leave the world of people and move to the wild, where he remains until today I hope. I was given very useful tips on how to predict the rain according to how ants behave, how to avoid bears, and what to forage. Also warned me of the poachers which I encountered later during my trip. I would love to go back there and learn more from him. Such a simple yet very wise person.

    A long time ago, a Russian child lived in poverty with his family. His entire family died and he moved to the forest to live in isolation. He had to chop wood every day to keep warm. His only friends were dogs with whom he shared his food and warmth, sang songs and waited for summer. He patiently awaited the day when he would die and see his family again. The end.
    Kinda feels bitter sweet. Strange how it feels like we all have more stuff but so little from life.

    Everything about this video touched me deeply and profoundly. Samuil - there should be a feature film on this man, his life, his story, his log cabin, his beloved dogs, his music, his diet, his recipes... i lived a life on a farm with no running water and no electricity for 9 years. I foraged the forest for firewood, grew our own food, played our drums and made our own music at full moon - it was hard but it was magical. But to do this in the far end of the Siberian tundra amongst wolves and bears deserves nothing but respect and i am in awe of this lone human. Long live Samuil! Please may we have an update on Samuil. The poet and romantic in me also wants to know his birthday, his life story, his hopes and dreams, details of the tragedy that brought him to this state of solitude and what keeps him going. What's his favourite meal, what's his favourite dessert? What treats does he buy himself from the village? Whats the name of his three dogs?

    OMG, this was incredibly moving!
    Here I am in the UK, unemployed in our "cost of living" crisis, when electricity is so expensive that I hardly ever heat my flat this winter (thank god that it's unusually mild), sitting indoors wrapped up in my outdoors hiking clothes.
    And then there is Samuil in Yakutia in his house with cellophane windows, surrounded by wolves and bears. Just wow! To this inspirational, sweet and humble, strong and resilient man.
    Thank you Kiun B for providing him with some help and I beg you to supply him with some double-glazed windows. Also I wonder if he has any kind of insulation layer on top of his ceiling, I don't know what could be the local sustainable material for that, people use sheep's wool (fleece) for that, maybe a layer of some dried material like moss or even small sticks could help?
    Also, if once the soil warms after the winter, it is possible to get some clay from the ground, he could benefit from a "COB rocket thermal mass heater" or a simplified version appropriate to the materials he can find. There are videos on youtube how such heater/ stove can be built. It uses far less wood to produce much more heat which is retained for a long time, easily over night. I will attach a link to a video where such clay cob heater keeps a tipi warm in winter but there are better videos how to build them.
    Of course, Samuil will only be getting older and weaker, he needs to have as much unnecessary hard labour taken out of his day as possible. However, I was greatly inspired by his resilience, sending my prayers for his receiving the help he might need.

    • @juvi999
      @juvi999 2 роки тому +26

      Sorry to hear about your circumstances. But I disagree about Samuil having to sop hard manual labour. This is how it will ensure his health and many years. This is how he stays warm and lives. In the western world we think that old people are weak. Not, if they don’t let it be. They get weak because they do little physical activity, watch lots of TV and eat lots of sugar and processed unhealthy foods. If you are active every day, an old person can be stronger than a young one (who is in front of iphone ever day), and he or she can do a lot of manual work until the last days in life.

    • @Hana_goes_East
      @Hana_goes_East 2 роки тому +21

      @@juvi999 well, actually, I am a 52yr old woman and the reason why I am interested in this type of videos is because I have a 60 yr old partner, who has been a self-employed gardener and horticulturalist for 30 years. He also has an off-grid smallholding which he loves (if you are in the US, the word for it is a homestead) and he has some animals there incl. goats. He has to chop his wood for his woodburner etc. I know it only too well that he lives in constant pain with his back damaged from many years of hard physical labour and I am worried about him. Now the doctor told him to stop his self-employed gardening work as he will be entitled to the disability benefit, otherwise his back will deteriorate to the point that he will become perhaps even wheelchair-bound. So, I do know what I am talking about. Samuil actually to some extent reminds me of my partner, who is also a very gentle, humble, kind, resilient (like Samuil, he had a tragic life and lives with PTSD from certain traumatic experiences) and very very hardworking man. Also, I definitely cannot be accused of living attached to my iPhone, I don't have one and the phone I have is switched off most of the time as I have an acute health sensitivity to the EMF of the phone. I am, similarly to my partner, a nature lover, I go hiking on Dartmoor the UK National park etc. So.... what about you, on what kind of authority are you claiming old people are stronger than young ones, are you speaking from a personal experience? However I do agree that people (not just the old ones) deteriorate once they stop working and getting physical exercise, I also know this from my work as a health care assistant.
      Ok and finally, I did not say he has to stop all activities, I just said, in reference to the cellophane windows and his constant having to chop wood to heat the house 24/7, that it would be very good to release him from the unnecessary hard labour (if you listen carefully, the voiceover says that it's a gruelling task at 1:11 ), such as by providing double-glazed windows. That's all. I do agree that physical activity is good for health and his independence.

      I had the same reaction. His singing was so beautifully warm and delicate, and his song so heartfelt and touching. It was incredibly moving to me, I felt like I could see him as a little boy as he sang, if that makes any sense.

    This video is one of the best videos i have ever watched on UA-cam. It gives me this new perspective, a new way to look at life. Honestly, it's amazing. This man, his hardships, how he's sustaining, makes me feel bad for even complaining slightly about my life. The song he sang at last was so emotional.
