its not just about age thinking, older people usually feel and suffer loneliness the most. He remembers good times as only feeble motivation. Being there 20 years alone, he doesnt wantt to admit and cant, must be utterly frustrating, thats why sadly he mainly thinks about "going" to better place
They usually dont want to have glass windows here because of bears, they destroy it, this can be repair cheaply, better option would be Poly(methyl methacrylate) - Plexiglass And mostly Chainsaw :)

You could help with windows , other help with other stuff ... that's all kind of you but he simply dont want it . He is good with this what he has now.
I really enjoyed the end where the camera crew gave the man gifts and cut some firewood for him. Showing true human compassion and love. Love your videos. Greetings from Minnesota, USA.
@Kiun B Yes, thank you! I recently found your channel and subbed. I live in Minnesota and I complain about the cold when we get minus 40 (Fahrenheit and Celsius) but wow, I can't even imagine how cold your homeland is! 🥶

I used to think Minnesota and North Dakota were the coldest places id ever live in.... I moved to Siberian Russia April 2022... And saw winter come Ive now lived through -40c through -50c I know you'll see those numbers in America but in siberia its a little harder to work around that 😂 greetings from Siberia My fellow American! 🇺🇸❤️🇷🇺
Ah, man... His last song made me cry, and I once again get reminded that we should express our love as much as possible because love is the only thing in life that's eternal, people go, money goes, and time flies past but the only way you'll be remembered is through love. Beautiful episode!
This video is the perfect example why internet was created! Thanks for sharing his exceptional living experience in harsh conditions. Also felt good that you gifted him with supplies! Keep up the good work team ❤

@@richardallen5042 I seriously duobt it. People who choose to live in such remote places never rely on others to provide them with anything. If he lived on an expectation that someone one day would bring him food, water, clothes, or a window, etc. he would be dead by now.
What is most important is the fact that despite living all alone and in the midst of so much of hardships, he keeps himself motivated to live happily. My hats off to him.
Alot of these other countries especially if it's what the west calls, 3rd world countries, they're usually spiritual and they're not materialistic. So nature is what keeps them thriving and they appreciate life more than people who work a 9 to 5 and going downtown in the weekends to party or what not.

Amazing person. I came across the guy once while walking around Lake Baikal in 2013. Anatoliy was his name and I have spent a night in his house, similar to the one in the video. Anatoliy lives in the most remote part of the lakeshore, it took me around 2 months to reach that place. At that point, he lived there for 52 years already, rarely meeting with other people, unless a boat with tourists came around. Anatoliy has frostbites on all his fingers which are almost completely gone. The area contains one of the biggest populations of brown bears and every night they come around the house, not to damage or look for food. I think they just come to wind him up as he is a part of nature there. There were claw marks all over the house but no damage. At night there was a lot of growling around. Very simple person and very friendly. He told me the story about himself and how he ended up there. As a young man (20 YO) he was already an alcoholic and during the winter in Listvianka, he and his mate went drunk outside. His friend died that night frozen to death and Anatoliy was found almost frozen, lost all his fingers and almost his arm. He decided to leave the world of people and move to the wild, where he remains until today I hope. I was given very useful tips on how to predict the rain according to how ants behave, how to avoid bears, and what to forage. Also warned me of the poachers which I encountered later during my trip. I would love to go back there and learn more from him. Such a simple yet very wise person.

The fact that he is still his mother's baby is pure heavenly. The love between Mother and Son is the purest form of existence, a gift from heaven on earth I'd say. He is most definitely a hard working and strong willed man.

I'm never going to complain about the cold winters in England ever again. I wish I could assist this man. What events forged this mental strength and isolation? His love for his mother must be immense.
My Canadian friend complains he feels cold in the UK because the air is damp rather than dry like in Canada. Not sure it gets to -70 though in downtown Toronto.
This as a russian bedtime-story. A long time ago, a Russian child lived in poverty with his family. His entire family died and he moved to the forest to live in isolation. He had to chop wood every day to keep warm. His only friends were dogs with whom he shared his food and warmth, sang songs and waited for summer. He patiently awaited the day when he would die and see his family again. The end. Kinda feels bitter sweet. Strange how it feels like we all have more stuff but so little from life.
@@12theotherandrew i think the issue is that in Russian, we have two words "русский" and "россиянин" which are used to describe different things, however in English when we say "russian" everyone just assumes we mean ethnicity
Out of all the things i love most about this guy it is how he has his own music. Tin cans, bowls, cups, and some cutlery was all he needed to paint his emotions. Music runs through us all. Like a harmonic string connecting every individual, still alowing each individual their own taste for sound.

Everything about this video touched me deeply and profoundly. Samuil - there should be a feature film on this man, his life, his story, his log cabin, his beloved dogs, his music, his diet, his recipes... i lived a life on a farm with no running water and no electricity for 9 years. I foraged the forest for firewood, grew our own food, played our drums and made our own music at full moon - it was hard but it was magical. But to do this in the far end of the Siberian tundra amongst wolves and bears deserves nothing but respect and i am in awe of this lone human. Long live Samuil! Please may we have an update on Samuil. The poet and romantic in me also wants to know his birthday, his life story, his hopes and dreams, details of the tragedy that brought him to this state of solitude and what keeps him going. What's his favourite meal, what's his favourite dessert? What treats does he buy himself from the village? Whats the name of his three dogs?
I hope he stays healthy and able to keep this routine for as long as humanly possible. What an inspiring feat of work to live a sustainable life in the most harsh of environments

Wow, we are all walking very different journeys on this Earth. It was incredible to get a glimpse at this formidable man's existence, thank you for this incredible piece of film-making. His lament as the closer was so poignant.
That's not cool. He's greedy and selfish. Takes resources from the village then goes back to his wood house to continue devastating the wood forest everyday.
@@kobeleonard148 Nevermind the incredibly consuming culture we live in of driving cars and living in large homes entertaining ourselves with technology that takes a lot of resources to make and run.
@@inspirice9844 You're right but those resources WE share and WE exploit for OUR commun benefits which would take way less harm than this greedy paranoid guy. That's probably one of the best things I watched on my life. Thanks for the team who did this. That man represents the best of the humankind and show us why is good to be alive.
I think this video does a good job of conveying how little material things we need in life but what makes life really worth living is the people around us. As humans, we are social animals and social connections and a sense of commmunity is essential for a healthy and happy life.
This man is a living sacrifice, dedicating his life and agreeing to be observed. He and others like him ensure humanity learns to survive the harsh solitude of worlds beyond Earth. Understanding how he stays sane, productive, and happy enough to endure deserves respect and recognition as a noble contribution to humanity’s quest to colonize cold, distant planets in the future.

Watching Samuil's daily routine and discovering Yakutian life through the channel has really humbled me. It definitely makes me appreciate how privileged we are in England or the west. By contrast, he never once complains about the cards he's been dealt. He just accepts his situation and adapts accordingly. Samuil is not unhappy! This way of life is his choice. He daesn't want to live anywhere else. If he did, he could live in more civilized place with heating and running water. You think you are privieged, but really not - Samuil is priveleged because he is independant and free.
@@yelena3341what a great and clear answer. I totally agree with you. So called civilised people have no idea what they are deprived from. Hello from Russia :)
He’s got more grit than most of humanity currently does. Look to him for inspiration whenever you’re complaining its too cold outside. He endures and makes the most of his simplistic life, yet still has time to keep his family of dogs happy. Keep on marching, sir.
His song brought tears to my eyes. He most have loved his mother, and vice versa. He represents the solitude in each and every one of us. Life in the forest doesn’t seem too bad. As he grows older, he will need more insulation for his house, but now, the hard work is what keeps him fit. His door needs better insulation, maybe if he double layered the cellophane it would be better insulation. (But would fog sometimes).
We didn't know that he doesn't have proper windows, we were shocked as well. It was our first time meeting him and he doesn't have any mobile connection. It's very difficult to reach his place, it took us 3 hours by car and 1 hour by snowmobile (which got broken while we were filming). Thank you for your concern, we will replace his windows soon.
i've been in siberia during winter, tomsk oblast, it is not as cold as yakutia, i had to deal with -30 C° and it was more cold than you can even imagine. -70 is.. out of my imagination huge respect for him, very huge
It doesn’t actually get that cold… -57F does happen but is very rare. It is definitely very cold, the average winter temp there is -11F during the day. It’s a frozen wasteland, but this video is exaggerating… I looked it up when I saw the -94F claim. That didn’t sound right.
After a certain point you can't feel the difference, it's just feels cold as fuск. I remember we had -42C once in our city (Russia), schools were closed so naturally every single kid was outside all day long playing in the snow while parents were at work😂
OMG, this was incredibly moving! Here I am in the UK, unemployed in our "cost of living" crisis, when electricity is so expensive that I hardly ever heat my flat this winter (thank god that it's unusually mild), sitting indoors wrapped up in my outdoors hiking clothes. And then there is Samuil in Yakutia in his house with cellophane windows, surrounded by wolves and bears. Just wow! To this inspirational, sweet and humble, strong and resilient man. Thank you Kiun B for providing him with some help and I beg you to supply him with some double-glazed windows. Also I wonder if he has any kind of insulation layer on top of his ceiling, I don't know what could be the local sustainable material for that, people use sheep's wool (fleece) for that, maybe a layer of some dried material like moss or even small sticks could help? Also, if once the soil warms after the winter, it is possible to get some clay from the ground, he could benefit from a "COB rocket thermal mass heater" or a simplified version appropriate to the materials he can find. There are videos on youtube how such heater/ stove can be built. It uses far less wood to produce much more heat which is retained for a long time, easily over night. I will attach a link to a video where such clay cob heater keeps a tipi warm in winter but there are better videos how to build them. Of course, Samuil will only be getting older and weaker, he needs to have as much unnecessary hard labour taken out of his day as possible. However, I was greatly inspired by his resilience, sending my prayers for his receiving the help he might need. ua-cam.com/video/3RvmXA5_Fd4/v-deo.html
Sorry to hear about your circumstances. But I disagree about Samuil having to sop hard manual labour. This is how it will ensure his health and many years. This is how he stays warm and lives. In the western world we think that old people are weak. Not, if they don’t let it be. They get weak because they do little physical activity, watch lots of TV and eat lots of sugar and processed unhealthy foods. If you are active every day, an old person can be stronger than a young one (who is in front of iphone ever day), and he or she can do a lot of manual work until the last days in life.
@@juvi999 well, actually, I am a 52yr old woman and the reason why I am interested in this type of videos is because I have a 60 yr old partner, who has been a self-employed gardener and horticulturalist for 30 years. He also has an off-grid smallholding which he loves (if you are in the US, the word for it is a homestead) and he has some animals there incl. goats. He has to chop his wood for his woodburner etc. I know it only too well that he lives in constant pain with his back damaged from many years of hard physical labour and I am worried about him. Now the doctor told him to stop his self-employed gardening work as he will be entitled to the disability benefit, otherwise his back will deteriorate to the point that he will become perhaps even wheelchair-bound. So, I do know what I am talking about. Samuil actually to some extent reminds me of my partner, who is also a very gentle, humble, kind, resilient (like Samuil, he had a tragic life and lives with PTSD from certain traumatic experiences) and very very hardworking man. Also, I definitely cannot be accused of living attached to my iPhone, I don't have one and the phone I have is switched off most of the time as I have an acute health sensitivity to the EMF of the phone. I am, similarly to my partner, a nature lover, I go hiking on Dartmoor the UK National park etc. So.... what about you, on what kind of authority are you claiming old people are stronger than young ones, are you speaking from a personal experience? However I do agree that people (not just the old ones) deteriorate once they stop working and getting physical exercise, I also know this from my work as a health care assistant. Ok and finally, I did not say he has to stop all activities, I just said, in reference to the cellophane windows and his constant having to chop wood to heat the house 24/7, that it would be very good to release him from the unnecessary hard labour (if you listen carefully, the voiceover says that it's a gruelling task at 1:11 ), such as by providing double-glazed windows. That's all. I do agree that physical activity is good for health and his independence.

The end.

Everything about this video touched me deeply and profoundly. Peace and blessing be upon your Dear Mother

@@kobeleonard148 Stfu u dumb dumb Human 😂😂😂😂 Hoooly cow Go on youre Smartphone and let this men live his life
@@kobeleonard148 Nevermind the incredibly consuming culture we live in of driving cars and living in large homes entertaining ourselves with technology that takes a lot of resources to make and run.
@@inspirice9844 You're right but those resources WE share and WE exploit for OUR commun benefits which would take way less harm than this greedy paranoid guy. Just imagine how many trees does he cut to keep continuously his house warm(2 or 3 trees as we've sen in the video). Now imagine if 10 other greedy selfish unsociable guys go live like him. 3trees*365days*10guys=more than 10 thousand trees!! How many years to replace that devastated area in the forest huh?
@Kobe Leonard Yea I wouldn't recommend you to search up how much deforestation we're causing in developing nations to mine materials for electric vehicle batteries. 10,000 is nothing in comparison. I don't see much devastated forest either in that video, you realise that trees can regrow? Some species grow real fast too. Me fueling my truck up once has caused more destruction than this man ever would in his life time lmao
That's probably one of the best things I watched on my life. Thanks for the team who did this. That man represents the best of the humankind and show us why is good to be alive.
Excuse me, what?!
I think this video does a good job of conveying how little material things we need in life but what makes life really worth living is the people around us. As humans, we are social animals and social connections and a sense of commmunity is essential for a healthy and happy life.
@@itsteejnot everyone need connection like this guy matter of taste
@@itsteejjust say you don’t know how to be alone and move on!
It ends me up with teary eyes.
love for his life, his struggle and much love to remember us that light up in every situation.
Thank you guys for making this video
His simple life, struggles to survive in a climate that harsh is really ispiring and beautifull. He's become a part of nature, a part of this forrest.
I appreciate the look through the window into this nice man's life. Now, can we get the man an actual window for his house?
Yes we will, thank you
How can I help this beautiful soul respect from the bottom of my heart
That's what I was about to say lol. Insane to live in this climate and have, essentially, the windows open at all times. Sounds like they're getting him proper windows though :)

I think this is by far the best video I have ever watched on this channel. I have been wondering what this would be like and this is a great in-depth explanation and showcase of what happens in the woods by yourself and how it works. I would love an update for spring and summer
There is a 4 part series on the channel "northmen" called grandfather that you might enjoy.

i feel sad for him but i am immensely impressed how resilient he is. I hope people near him can help him in providing him necessities. starting with a window
He's probably healthier and happier than most of us. That said, I'm sure he loves getting some additional food and most importantly, a glass window!

@KiunB we should thank you for your endless efforts to help Samuil & others in need and for documenting them.. let your kindness influence more & more people ❤🙏
Watching Samuil's daily routine and discovering Yakutian life through the channel has really humbled me. It definitely makes me appreciate how privileged we are in England or the west. By contrast, he never once complains about the cards he's been dealt. He just accepts his situation and adapts accordingly. If i had a grain of his patience, i feel like i could live my best life too. Thank you for sharing your culture and opening my eyes through these experiences.
Samuil is not unhappy! This way of life is his choice. He daesn't want to live anywhere else. If he did, he could live in more civilized place with heating and running water. You think you are privieged, but really not - Samuil is priveleged because he is independant and free.

I'll admit I'm a wimp. -5 C is too cold for me. 🥶

I also started crying on this song.
And I agree he needs a window.
He has found a way to know nature on the level most will never do
Can we get this guy a window?! Seems like he would appreciate that very much.
You bring it.
@@gatekeeper84 The King of the Netherlands cannot arrange that on his own?

huge respect for him, very huge
Re educated campers from Vietnam would have to dig tunnel 100 feet below the tundra for warmth?
It doesn’t actually get that cold… -57F does happen but is very rare. It is definitely very cold, the average winter temp there is -11F during the day. It’s a frozen wasteland, but this video is exaggerating… I looked it up when I saw the -94F claim. That didn’t sound right.
It's click bait. Yakutia's coldest day was -62 C, on average it's like -40 in the middle of Winter.
@@chaseblood1618 coldest recorded day was -62 C according to google.
