Kimbuksoon Keun Nambijip (김북순큰남비집) - First up is one of the most common and popularly loved Korean foods, Kimchi Jjigae (Kimchi Stew). They use ripe kimchi that has a beautiful flavor and acidity to give maximum flavor. From there, you can choose your meat of choice.
Price: 9,000 KRW ($6.74 USD) per bowl
Pyeongyang Myeonok (평양면옥) - Next up on this ultimate Korean food tour we’re eating a classic version of Naengmyeon (Buckwheat Noodles) at one of the most famous restaurants to eat it at in Seoul.
Price: 15,000 KRW ($11.23) per bowl
Sigol Gamjaguk (시골감자국) - The first time I tried Gamjatang (Bones and Potato Stew), it immediately became one of my favorite dishes in South Korea. The bones are cooked until tender and the soup is loaded with chili flakes, perilla leaves, and perilla seeds.
Price: 51,000 KRW ($38.18 USD) feeds 4
Taegeukdang Bakery - In between eating we took a quick break to meet the CEO of Korea Tourism Organization at the oldest bakery in Seoul, serving traditional Korean pastries and sweets.
Gangwon-jeong (강원정) - One of the most soothing of all Korean foods is Samgye-tang (Ginseng Chicken Soup). The chicken is cooked until fall apart tender and the rice inside absorbs all the ginseng and chicken juices as it cooks.
Price: 17,000 KRW ($12.73 USD) per bowl
Pro Soy Crab - Finally, one of the extreme delicacies of Korean food is Ganjang Gejang (Soy Marinated Crab). The blue crabs are raw and marinated in sweet soy sauce. The roe is so gooey and melts in your mouth.
Price: 127,000 KRW ($95.08 USD) for crabs

As a Korean I can confirm those places are legit, what I love so much about this channel is that they do not show favorite traveling spots but hidden gems in each country. Such a great content!

Nice to see Mark in Korea again. I discovered Mark's channel in 2016 as I was planning my first trip to Korea as an adult and was watching videos of Korea on UA-cam - been a subscriber since. It so happened that Mark had just been to Jeonju, my mother's hometown, and had made a video series in that area. I got to try some of the places Mark had been to and was not disappointed. Since then, Mark has guided me to good eats during my trips to Thailand, Japan, and even places in my home area of Los Angeles. Thanks Mark! Keep doing what you're doing!

Korean food is the ultimate comfort food. I don't think I can go a full week without warming my heart with a Guk, Tang or Jjigei of some kind.
Also side note- Samgyetang is the best hangover cure I've ever found.

I have been watching his video since he had like a couple of thousand subscribers. Now that he has 10 mil subscibers,he has never changed a bit. Always Humble,Gentle, Smiley and Pleasant. Besides being a little more talkative and having improved presenting skills. Always nice to watch his video like it had been ever since.
Mark I was soooo excited to see another video of you in Korea. Soy marinated crabs is not a beginner dish for non-Koreans, but both you and Ying totally get Korean cuisine; It makes sense since Thai and Korean cuisines both have strong and spicy flavours.
I will never forget the crabs I had in Busan when I lived there, massively overlooked country for seafood.
@@chrisbfreelance You're so right and what a privilege that you had access to Busan's amazing seafood market! A chef vlogger I follow said of all the cities in the world he had travelled to he found Seoul had the most amazing food culture.
Thai people eat raw crabs mixed in a fermented sauce so I’m sure they are used to it.

Pyongyang nengmyun is definitely an acquired taste and not all Koreans even like it. I personally never got used to it, haha. On the other hand, I LOVE North Korean style mandoo. My grandparents were from the north, so my grandma used to make a lot of NK dishes.

I love mul nengnyun with crushed ice and Korean hot mustard/ brown rice vinegar. Ice cold even on a cold day it’s good. The instant kind is even good. With the dark blue broth packet. Maangchi likes the instant kind too.

Mark, we have an authentic Korean restaurant here in Cheyenne, Wyoming USA! I absolutely love their Mandu but I get the fried Mandu, which the inside looks exactly like yours did, and the Beef bulgogi so so good!! Love love watching your videos! What a legend!!!

Brilliant video and fantastic dishes, but you definitely saved the best till last. Ganjang Gejang and, especially, Yangneyeon Gejang are heaven on a plate. Putting the rice in the shell is a must. Thank you for the recommendations for where to eat .

Big fan of Mark Wiens youtube !! So glad to see you having fun in Korea and as a Korean fan, I would really want to recommend Korean style fugu hotpot. You won't find it anywhere in the world, which very different from what they have in Japan.

Great and informative video! So helpful to know what is good and where to go in Seoul! Everything looked delicious -- with the exception of drinking "noodle water." That did not sound very appetizing. Everything else was amazing!

Korean guy is doing it right when he adds the nengmyun soup to the noodles to loosen it up. There are nengmyun places where they actually give you a bowl of the nengmyun broth to add to the bibimyun so it’s like a spicy nengmyun. That gamjatang looks LEGIT. Love this episode!
He’s doing it wrong by cutting it and adding condiments.. noob status
@@jjoomusic most people cut the noodles and add vinegar/mustard. 🤷🏻♂️ If you eat it plain with the uncut long noodles then you’re in the minority.
