      Honda best car ever? Honda is not a car. All brands have good and bad cars. Per example, the NSX is respectable por 99% os the people, and is a Honda, like S2000 or Integras R.

    Honda just never leaves me stranded anywhere on the road even after a very bad beat down on the engine. Always got me back home. Always comes back to life with the most minimal parts. Honda love for life.

    • @GTContent

      I highly doubt that. There's just too many cars in that category. The Honda/Acura RSX was designed to replace both the Prelude and Integra.

      The H22A is the stepchild of the VTEC motors. Hence, they made the K20 to replace the B-series and H-series motors.

      I totally agree with you. I am a huge Honda fan and I own 3 Honda cars. I can never understand why people don't like Hondas because they are awsome cars and are rock solid reliable and they are very safe aswell. I don't care if people don't like Honda because it is their loss and not mine. I love Honda and always will.

      Exactly. Who cares what the guy at the red light thinks. Dont drive like a douche nozzle, enjoy the car and do what YOU like.
      In society today. Everyone is so concerned what everyone else thinks about them or their material possessions. They are usually fun cars to drive, reliable, quick and cheap to maintain. That guy driving the BMW, Merc, etc doesn't "look" very cool when he gets a $2500 quote for brakes and tires on his stock 19s. Do what makes YOU happy. People need to go back to a time before instagram, snapchat, etc. Find what you like/enjoy and just do it.

    I think most people that hate hondas are mostly from the U.S, mainly because hondas is a really die hard Japanese brand that only offers their top spec and great cars in Asia only, like Dc5 type r's, fd2 type R's, Mugen RR's, Jdm Dc2/db8r, accord euro r's, etc... i fortunately grew up in Hong Kong where we all get the cool models like the type R's there...the U.S did not get any real Honda made type r until 2017, they missed out a lot a lot...

    • @GTContent
      @GTContent  7 років тому +8

      Good to see a perspective outside of the USA. A correction though we did get the Integra Type R in 97-98 & 2000-2001. This will be the first time we get a Civic Type R in the USA though.

      @alex11055 7 років тому +2

      GT Content I know what you mean by Integra type r, you were talking about the Acura Dc2 type r, in accurate that's a Acura type r, that's why I was saying a real Honda made type r that's badged as Honda, USA didn't get any Honda type r's until 2017

    Great video. For years I was a Honda lover, owning a couple of CRX Si in the 90s and two AP1 S2000 later on. They were great cars and I met a lot of great people because of those cars. I still like Honda, but now it's only my wife's Odyssey. I got bored with Hondas lack of decent offerings after the S2000 and even with it being a blast, the lack of torque low in the range made it not as fun unless really wailing on it. Of course then it was REALLY fun, but not so much for around town driving. For my car fix now, I moved to the Subaru WRX. Easy to tune, AWD for the snow, great sound and loads of torque to make even a trip to the store fun. But, I really do hope the new Type R offering will bring some life back to Honda.

    So true. I owned a 95 civic coupe ex sohc vtec I bought after I came back from Japan in 2001. Was a cheap to own maintenance and upgrades. Loved that car, fun to drive at the limit with tein suspension I put in it. Yah still brings nostalgia and I do like Hondas for their reliability as family cars. Today I drive a 17 wrx sti, and I must admit the announcement of the new civic type r brought back memories, but I'll keep my STI.

    Great video you got a new subscriber! I really just wish that Honda would make simple, lightweight, easy to work on cars again that are fun to drive. my favorite generation was the fourth generation civic because they barely weighed more than a crx, I don't think any had power steering, and they were the birth of the vtec Civic. you could argue easily the fit gen was the best because of OBD1 and the integra engine bay but all generations of Honda Civic still gave us good Civics, just some more memorable than others. shout-out to the DOHC ZC third generation for even giving us the B16A1 in the first place!

    excellent video. You always offer insightful content. I still love Honda. Its hard to blame them for not catering to the enthusiast crowd. Even in your video you state that in the 90's, the people buying them were buying cheap, used vehicles. That doesn't really benefit the manufacturer. They are always going to cater to the people actually purchasing their new cars. Also, if you study economics or demographics at all, younger people, the 25-40 demographic that used to be where businesses targeted, no longer have buying power. That demographic is riddled in debt. The demographic with buying power is much older, probably in their 50's. So, I don't think Honda lost their way, they are still selling plenty of automobiles. And if you've owned one recently, they are as reliable as ever.

  • @ARM_DM

    I think it comes down to whether you are a car enthusiast or not. You can have a Honda civic and brag that it's the best car ever made and not accept anything else (not being a real enthusiast) or you can have a Honda civic keep your loyalty and accept every car out there for what they are. On the opposite side, you can be hating on Hondas because of their known hatred or you could respect the owner and what he's done to it like a car enthusiast, unless it's hideous AF like mentioned above ;)

      Alpha Wolf I drive a 94 integra and wouldn't trade it for anything on the market currently. But I also believe the last "muscle car" was the 82-88 Camaro after that factories got their parts made in Mexico and began outsourcing heavily and cars only became "assembled" in America! And before anyone knocks me for my opinion the first car I ever wrenched on was a 74 nova bored built and blown

    I bought my 92 Si back in 97 and it only had 80.000 mile on it,I paid almost 1300 for it back then and I always wanted a hatchback,cause I was into the JDM scene where it was simple,clean and was easy to work on,but I got tired of the SOHC and swapped it for a B16A SiR motor which is a great tuner motor and also changed my exaust so it would sound deep and not like a fart can,I still have my EG and going 22yrs and 5 month"s I keep it tuned up and still running good.

    I remember a Honda Civic smoked a 2002 camaro. The camaro owner got so mad that he LS swapped his engine so he can never be beaten again. Funny thing is, is that he never takes it drag racing anymore because he’s still embarrassed and he doesn’t want to lose again. Yes I’m a Honda owner but I respect all cars and no I’m not a ricer. I’m a very cheap person and I’m not doing any modifications anytime soon dxterior or inside the engine bay.

    I’m an FR-S owner but I’m not going to lie... One of the cars I’m itching to build is a CR-X. I will someday make the move to purchase a GT-R depending on how the market is in a few years but the CR-X is always on my mind. There’s on for sale down my street and I think I want to dedicate it as a track toy! I like to think as an enthusiast, take cars for what they are and not hype them up as what they aren’t. Honda’s seem so much fun regardless of status!

(maybe later would modify the exhaust system with a performance exhaust as its pretty quite car). I love Japanese cars, im also a car enthusiast. and getting to enjoy Honda Once more again. High 14s and low 15s? That pretty good in my opinion for a 4-banger. My dad had a 1973 Oldsmobile Cutless with a 350 V8 and later, a 1968 Dodge Charger with a 318 V8, both cars ran 14s in the quarter mile.

    So I was going to get a Lexus GS300 for 1200$ but my parents didnt let me due to a transition and battery problem so instead I bought a Honda Civic DX 1991 1.6L for 400$ off my friend. Im new to the car scene and I wanted to know what or how I should tune up my car so that Im not considered a "ricer." I know first I have to get the car checked out for leaking fluids, brakes, etc. a regular check up. and Im not going to put any decals, spoilers, or hood vents on it. I recently found out that a cold air intake wont do anything to a D series car. What modifications should I do to make the Civic faster? As of right now im thinking about stripping the interior and getting racing seats, an exhaust system and a strut bar. Im open to suggestions.

    Wow, this guy nailed it. Mainly because, like me, he is older and was in the car scene in the mid 90's and he has seen it all. The JDM trend at that time was super loud exhausts, body kits and coloured wheels which was very different and shocking in North America. The other thing he got right was how it has died down today, but you wouldn't know that on the internet. They hate "Ricers" like it's 1999... I see like 3 Ricers a year now, so lets move on.

    Good video, I used to hate on Honda's. But that changed after I raced against an EF Integra that was gutted, with a cam swap and a two step; don't know how much power it had but he still pulled got ahead of me, even if it was a car length, a win is a win. Now days I believe fastest car in a straight line has nothing on auto crossing or drfting, but that's just my opinion.

      Is this still true? I lived in a Hispanic ghetto (I am Hispanic) in MA where street racing and Hondas/Integras were a daily way of life. Literally you couldn't turn your head or go longer than 2 minutes without hearing an exhaust. I literally tested it one day =D. I personally had a completely stock 94' accord, minus an exhaust, paint job, black housing lights, with subs. I had a club and touch alarm. The last summer I owned it in 09' they tried to steal it at least 6 times in under 4 months. Now I live in NC and it being southern I rarely see a "ricer", a lot more domestic vehicles like Mustangs, Camaros etc being there more African American and White people. Also, taking into consideration that "hooking" up cars doesn't seem to be a thing so much anymore from what I can tell. Research shows more and more young people are forgoing even getting a license, and usually its the younger people who like stealing cars. I ask all this because I just bought myself my favorite car that I loved in high school, a 5th gen Prelude and am debating putting a touch alarm on it. TLDR: They people still steal Hondas, and more so in south where domestics are more popular?

    I've definitely surprised a lot of muscle car dudes with my 98 JDM Integra Type R swapped 97 LS Integra. 99% of them after riding in the car and feeling what it's capable of begin to respect Hondas and stop all the hate speeches they were once a part of. It's pretty cool to see that and be the one that influenced them (: All it takes is one properly modded car with an owner that doesn't run his mouth.

    Hey Gary, how do you like your TSX (what year? Manual?). I’ll be doing a year-long search for a car that is kinda vintage and/or special...what would you suggest for $25k or below with a stick???

    • @GTContent
      @GTContent  6 років тому

      The TSX has met all my expectations except for power and speed. It's my daily and I like having the luxuries it provides at an affordable price point. It's a 2006 with automatic (my decision on auto as it's my daily) and navigation (outdated, but better than nothing).
      Funny you ask as I'll be uploading my recommendation on performance cars for under $10,000 later on today. lol
      For under $25k, I think it's really what you plan to do with the car as I may have different needs. You're probably looking at cars in the $15-$25k range at that price point. Vintage is a loose term nowadays since it seems most everything is going "vintage".
      My suggestions would be:
      -Mitsubishi Evolution 8/9 (Special in a sense that its the last 4G63 and discontinued)
      -Honda S2000 (Special in that it's VTEC&RWD and discontinued)
      -Acura NSX-1st generation (This might fit what you're looking for if you don't mind 2-seaters. Might be hard to find at $25k, but doable if you search hard enough. Timing is everything.)
      -Toyota Supra TT (Special in that it's discontinued and might be hard to find a pristine example for $25k)
      -Mustang GT ("Vintage", but not really special in this case as everywhere)
      -Camaro ("Vintage", but not really special in this case as everywhere)
      -Corvette ("Vintage", but not really special in this case as everywhere)

    Being a Honda enthusiast, I love both old and new Hondas. They're awesome budget track cars that combine awesome driving potential, simple engineering, and extreme reliability into one. They're incredibly easy to work on and incredibly fun to drive. I completely agree with almost all of your points; unfortunately the Honda community is filled with idiots with IQ's in the single digits. This was a great video, I'm just hoping more people will bash the idiotic community and not the brand itself.

    Its like any brand of car. There are clean ones and junk ones.
    Personally grew up with EG/EKs with B series swaps. They weren't super fast...but they were a blast to drive. Cruise around and blast down some backroads.
    Now I have a '13 SI Coupe with Navi. I love it. Throw a intake on it, short shifter kit and just drive it for what it is. Its "sporty", manual (which Honda seems the only ones to stick to on their "sport" models), reliable as hell, comfortable to drive and quick if you want to go on a more spirited drive. I know its not a race car for the street. I know its not "fast" by comparison. But I know them like the back of my hand and feel comfortable knowing basic maintenance and general care of it can last hundreds of thousands of miles. Its a great daily driver for sure. Will ALWAYS be some people who try to convince themselves its a race car for the street - that it can beat anything that comes along. Dont be that guy. Enjoy the car. Dont care what other people say/think. If you like it, thats all that matters.
