Like I made pretty clear at the end- at the end of the day I love Honda, they do pretty amazing things. Thanks for watching guys! Are you about that Vtec life?
If you're concerned with losing to a civic, you shouldn't be racing. If you lose to a civic in any race, there a good chance that civic is a very high performing car and should be recognized as such.
Trust me, there are people who hate the cars. Those are the people who think any 4 cylinder is "below" them because they spent money on an (often stock) 8 or more.
Ricers are just really poor tuners. I dont hate on those kids they are not educated on what it takes to build a car properly. It takes alot of time and patience. It took me 10 years to fully build my Honda.
@@NolanMillerArt there are Soo many misleading parts out there. Especially in the plug n play ecu stuff. And the electric turbos to name a few. Just wire this chip to this wire and gain 50hp and man was my car quick after doing that. I did alot of my research on the hondaforums and thru a few other sites. There is a ton of free info out there and alot of really smart guys and gals out there too. And if your humble enough most of them will stop and shoot the shit with ya. As with anything though you got your good with the bad.
@@danielvargason7006 I'm 53 and retiring in less than 2 years, my plan is to buy a 2004 ep3 and swap in a Acura type s motor, upgrade the suspension and exhaust. And that's coming from a guy that's never even owned a Honda. I drive a 2017 Tahoe now. The ep3 will be my summer ride.
“Hondas last forever”. I’m 42 and I still have my 2001 Honda Prelude that I bought brand new from the dealership. Still running, and I’m not getting rid of it.
Yeah, a lot of higher powered cars rev at my car at stoplights and leave me behind as they fly past me. Once corners appear, I fly past them. I'm glad they only know how to use their right foot to show off their "driving skills" 😂
There are two types of brand loyalty. There is the toxic "this brand is best and all other suck" loyalty that dose not even always base its values on empirical statistics or real world results, like those people who insist the Bugatti is the best car in the world because they heard one time a decade ago that it was the world's fastest car, and yet still do not realize "Bugatti" is not even the name of the car. Then you have healthy "brand preference", as I prefer to call it. They know what one brand does well and so stick to it. Yes, it is partially due to familiarity, but also largely as a result of...well, results. But of course, this all can be influenced by enthusiast culture. I, for example, am an FF enthusiast, so my favorite brands are those that feature good FF cars, like Honda, Renault, Mazda, Peugeot, Mini, and so on. Does that mean I hate the Challenger or Supra or BMW i8? No. In fact, I quite like all of those cars. I just have my preferences.
I have brand loyalty but it ends the same day that the company I'm loyal to compromises its values or the quality of their product. I have an entirely business oriented view of my relationships with certain companies and products. And if I like something, I will tell other people about it if the subject comes up.
@@konekoray9323 I agree man.. FF layouts are also my favorite too because it's so cheap and easy and I love the way they drive.. That's a big reason why I stick with Mitsubishi, but the other reason why I am more loyal to Mitsubishi is because they also have 6 cylinder options and I love V6 FF layouts too and prefer them over I4 layouts (not that I don't like those either), especially since theirs sit lower in the engine bay unlike Honda's V6's (especially when swapped lol) along with the option to go AWD since they also never really changed their engine designs much over a long time so parts are easier to find on the associated cars with the same engine but different chassis.. And even the chassis can use the same parts from other platforms to convert to AWD if you wanted to which I really like.. Plus, our Mivec VVT-I systems works better on our V6 platforms (3.0L, 3.5L, and 3.8L) than our I4's like the 4G63 as Honda's are much better at with the smaller engines.. Now that's not that I don't like Honda as I would love to own a DC2 or a BB6 one day too, or drive a 6th Gen Civic coupe or Hatch! But I just *_prefer_* Mitsubishi in the long run than them and other brands because they have more of what I like and cars with much more unique to my taste design cues that I found more appropriate to suit my needs and wants.. (The 3000GT and 3rd Gen Eclipse for Example) So I definitely agree.. I think I'd have a healthy loyalty to my brand but that doesn't mean I'm too stuck in my ways to see the good in other brands and their platforms for what they have to offer :)
I would give up my 23 year old GSR right this second if I could get a brand new Mazda 3 wagon 6-speed with 2.5L engine, and not have a crazy car payment to deal with.
42 year old 07 SI owner...skunk2 alpha header skunk2 cold air...3in catless Mugen exhaust, tein coilovers eibach sway bars, stage 2 clutch flywheel, fladhpro , 2.2 drag cartel cams.....ummmm yeah I love it now! Stock it was begging for more airflow and still is...want to go comptech this spring
I can't fucking stand lambos, they're overrated cars that love to catch fire and are bought by rich people who know nothing about cars and just like the attention. Furthermore, assuming I couldn't just sell the lambo for an insane amount of money, I would choose a sleeper Honda over a Lambo.
Run Aubameyang Run thanks for sharing. I on the other hand am not a 12 year old. I've been driving for quite some time now, I've grown past the stage where I desire speed above all else and that is literally all a sleeper Honda is good for, straight line speed, nothing else. A Lamborghini is a far more refined vehicle, more prestigious with far better driving dynamics. Besides, if you want to make this into a tuner issue, most TT huricans and ghallardo's destroy even the fastest civics. Lambos are far from my fave cars but I'm the type that would choose just about anything over a civic so.. yeah.
Who said all I cared about was speed? My dream car is a Porsche 911 and I currently own a g37. I wouldn't choose a sleeper civic over a Lambo just because it would be supposedly faster, I would choose even a stock Civic over a Lambo. Do I blame you for preferring a Lamborghini? No, this is my personal opinion and I simply don't have any respect for Lamborghinis.
After 2016 models were released, they were more than twice as likely to develop issues as compared to any American brand, not the least of which are engine and transmission issues. My suggestion therefore is to keep runnin' in the '90's.
1) Fwd helps with more efficient power delivery, transverse is a good way to go! 2) The stock d16/d17 engines can last far over 200k miles 3) K20 swaps are very budget and usually fit right in making swaps more convenient 4) Even the performance Hondas can still get over 20mpg 5) Civics being about the most manufactured car in America makes them easy to find and cheap!
I probably have a little bit of Honda in my blood. My dad had a sleeper 800hp Honda Civic. I have the best memories of my dad humiliating muscle cars :)
Saved the best reason for last, nobody wants to lose a race in their $30k or more mustang/subaru to a honda that was built in a driveway over a weekend with a budget. They're obtainable cars, meaning everyone can find one and own it for cheap, you can dream your whole life of owning a mclaren or a ferrari but your gonna be dreaming more than 50% of the time until you get one, might as well be happy with what you can have rather than cry over what you want.
AnthonyAllMotor you can build lots of cars in your drive way other than hondas. Hondas are cheap, but there's lots of other cheap cars that can be made to be fast.
I couldn't dream of getting rid of my Si. Even when its on its death bed, It will be in my living room as a conversation piece. My Civic is my baby. We have been through hell and back. She never let me down
I'm with you brother, I have a 2003 Civic SI and I've owned it 11 years now, don't drive it as much these days but I'm looking in to swapping out the k20a3 for a k24 or k20a2 install some new life in to it, can't bring my self to get rid of it
Well I'm 40 years old and my first car was a 1980 rx7 with grey primer spary paint in 1994 I was 17. Then I owned Z28 5speed Ttops was my favorite car. Then from there I owned trucks till 4 years ago I bought 2001 civic ex for just a daily for back an forth to work. Just tinted the Windows because I'm in Florida.after driving it for 3 years I fell in love with it very easy to work on and maintain cheap parts. So last weekend I went to the Honda dealer to get a body part only the dealer had and came home with 2018 civic si and love that to.
I will say I agree with relating hondas to youth because they're common, cheap, reliable, and easy to build. As a result, young kids pick them up as their first car. I'm 18 and I just bought a 2000 Civic SI and I love it. I DO NOT race. I do not build. I want a clean looking commuter car to take me to school and back and look clean while it does it. As soon as I posted it on my social media, I got DOZENS of messages asking me to race. People saying their fiesta or their camry will smoke my em1. I didn't care then, I don'r care now, and I won't care in the future. I don't race and I didn't buy the car for speed or power. So not all young honda owners wanna race everyone. In fact, it seems like all other brand owners always wanna race hondas for literally no reason. My friend went from a bmw e46 to a 2007 SI and got SO MUCH HATE for it. Everyone was telling him he downgraded and how his car is slow and how it's garbage just because it's a Honda. It's just childish to worry so much about someone else's car. If you don't want a Honda, don't buy one. Some people are looking for a reliable, gas efficient, simple and clean car that they can make some simple modifications to.
Wicha329 Here in Britain, they're sales reps cars, like the Vauxhall Astra, Cavalier, Ford Mondeo, or driven by retired professionals living on the south coast.
Wicha329 im 18 too man. I know exactly what you mean with the racing. It just attracts people who are begging to be part of "car culture" instead of actually going out and working with cars from day to day. I'm a mustang guy, ive owned 5 already (mostly because they sell QUICK here where i live so i buy one clean it up and sell it quick) but im keeping yhe one i have currently. Its a GT. Instantly every honda del sol and saturn ion with a wing wanna race. And the dirtier the car is the more people wanna race. As if they theyre competing over who has the shittiest car. If i clean up the car and have it waxed, I get a bunch of newer v6 mustangs or base model cars wanting to race. Its just sad. Im 18 and got revved at by a 40 year old guy in a broken down eclipse COVERED in auto-zone chrome detailing. Its just ridiculous. Maybe on the internet Civics and Mustangs hate each other but we have one thing in common, everyone wants to race their buckets against us for no reason other than it was on fast and furious or need for speed once. The nicer and cleaner your car the less people wanna race i guarantee it. I feel you man, I have never pulled up next to anyone wanting to race its just a problem i guess you have to face if you drive a car that everyone knows about.
I completely agree with you. I have a 2000 civic ex and my goal is to ultimately have a clean looking car. My friends and strangers always tell me "RICE IT OUT BRO" but I don't want to at all. If she runs better and looks better than your 2012 Camry I'm happy.
you want to drop your car properly? I installed this kit to properly drop my vehicle and it is awesome and affordable.. amzn.to/2YnbVPA go to my channel and see it by yourself..
When I was in college I had a '98 Acura Integra with a fart cannon because I wanted a fun car (and it was pretty fun), but that's all that I could afford. Now I have a 6 figure salary and drive a BMW Z4 (N54), FBO with MHD 2+ tune and I still have fun. I have a ton of respect for someone working his ass off making $12/hr so he can mod his ride. There's no need to look down on others because they have an "inferior" ride. Just enjoy what you have, and let them enjoy what they have.
~$150k actually, and my Z4 rapes stock M3 from a dig or from a roll. It's not even close lol. My friend has a stock M4 which gives me a close race on our first pull, but after a few hard pulls, it's not that close anymore. And despite my mods, I still spent less than he did lol. But aside from the power potential of the N54 platform, I love the way the Z4 looks. It's so beautiful :D
Honda's are amazing and it hurts my soul when people talk shit about them. Fantastic engineering all-round, cheap and reliable. I know their a popular vehicle to rice, but it doesn't mean that the actual vehicle's built are shit.
My cents as a Honda owner / general car enthusiast I'm gonna start off with saying that I'm not from America so the ricer Honda thing isn't really as big over here. It's generally like, i dunno, peugeots, skodas, volvos and stuff that gets riced out? I don't like rice. So I can understand why people dislike this branch of Hondas. My view of Honda owners / drivers whom I've met is entirely different. They are generally all nice, reasonable people with a passion for their cars. That said I do recieve a bit of trash from usually american based haters. I don't think brand loyalty is a bad thing. Why should I have to like everything? There are plenty of cars I don't care for, just like other people don't have to like or care about Honda. The key difference is that unlike certain people, I don't go on youtube to type in a certain car type, go on the video to say the car is shit. I focus on what I like, not what I dislike which in my head makes me a more true car enthusiast than the average Honda hater. I also think Honda hate stems from jealousy. Not a materialistic jealousy because anyone can get a Honda right. It's a jealousy in the passion Honda owners have for their cars. People get frustrated that we admire these cheap cars over their more expensive cars. They spent more money so certainly they should have the privilege to have us lower class Honda drivers looking up to them. That is why they constantly shove in our faces how their car is better than our Honda for this or that reason. End notes: I love rwd, and drifting. S-chassis is probably my biggest car love. But FWD is amazing in its own way. Power on stability and lift off oversteer just works so nicely. It's truly enjoyable to drive in the corners. Big argument incoming maybe? I dunno
From the ages of 18-23, I owned many different civics. All of which were modified. Some lightly and some heavily. Had single cam D16, dual cam B16’s and a turbo H22. Such a fun platform to modify and play with. With Honda motors being cheap, it was easy to experiment. I’m not totally sure why, but I just grew out of the Honda phase. I’ll always look back fondly on my Honda days because, well, it was just fun. I say if you enjoy driving it, who cares what someone else might say. A car is a car and as long as you enjoy driving it, than drive the damn thing.
Yeah maybe someday. I’m 33 now, with a family and kids and all that fun stuff. Definitely not against it. When I do a project car again, I’ll probably go rear wheel drive this go around. Been wanting to experiment with that. I’ve had my fun with Honda’s. They’re great fun when done right.
the problem is always the person never the car :) i have a civic and i am mostly focusing on functionality, they are made for corners :) they are also cheap and easy to work on so a lot of people have them and out all of the people you have ones that just ruin the image of the car and thats the reason every one hates them, if you go to japan you will see that people actually know how to build hondas they are focused on function instead of this stance, loud, etc bullshit
200hp in a 1900lbs doesn't seem slow to me, keeps up with most cars on the track, maybe on the straights they pull away but in the corners it can keep up or even be faster, you don't need to have 500hp to be fast "Straights are for fast cars, corners are for fast drivers"
Smoked by a fart can that sounds like it's about to blow up, but it's actually barely going at 50mph? Cause all the mods on most Honda's are useless shit that doesn't do shit for the performance. And sorry to break it to you, but slapping an ebay muffler, putting a shitty cold air intake and "overtaking" casually driving prople that aren't even aware that you're "racing" isn't equal to smoking everyone.
You mean they spend lots of money on labor. Majority of car enthusiasts with 2 to 3yr old cars or to broke to afford internals nowadays slaps on bolt ons and a cam..... yeah I built the whole motor.....pshhh bullshit, honda guy looks over......sureeee you did. Built not Bought labor.
Charles Michael oh man i cannot stop laughing lord so funny im really on the fucking floor right now rolling because of this comment. jk im gonna go bang my head into a wall to deread this bullshit.
Get a full blown out muscle car and a built Honda. If they can't beat the Honda, they don't deserve to race the big boy. You'll hurt their feeling even more by making them feel even more worthless that you own two cars they can't beat!
dekoldrick that's literally my goal bro. I got gto and 88 crx si and I want get the rex beefy and torky lol and if they can't beat the rex they can't race the G.O.A.T lol
Romena Fuentes Well I must agree, up to the FN2 Civics were pretty fine. The FK2 for instance was a somewhat deception to me, to start the tail lights looked like from a Prius, numerous necessary functions such as the windshield water indicator were nonexistent on the base model, etc. But the driveability was so much fun, and believe me, I drove it for months through driving school!
I had a 1998 Chrysler. And in 2004 my brother bought a 1994 Honda Accord with like 250,000 miles on it. I laughed at him hard and told him it would go belly up in one year. 13 years later it was still running while my Chrysler broke down just after 5 years with two transmission break down. I learned a lesson. Never look down on a HONDA. One of the best cars. They never die.
Hondas are very good cars/engines. I drive a Honda Civic automatic, 1.8ltr and 140 HP. She`s very reliable, very low on gas and very fast. It`s also a nice looking conceptcar, the front is just plastic glas, and the rear is very sporty. Such cars run forever, if you hold on to the maintenance everytime you feel like.
Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that he just came into Harry's and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS, and a Motec system exhaust.
I like Honda for their engineering. Power AND fuel efficiency through the use of a system that changes the entire cam profile (varying the lift and duration of the valves) and timing using a simple, reliable hydraulic pin. It allows the car to run on a fuel efficient, high torque (relative to displacement) cam profile while just cruising and then swap to a high performance "wild" cam when performance is required. Honda engines are incredibly reliable and love to rev right up to the red line which makes them exciting to drive and are very entertaining even at slower speeds. The type r models have incredibly good handling that would put many other cars to shame on a windy road, even if they had more power. I used to own an Accord Euro R which was a fantastic car to drive. A beautiful close ratio gearbox mated to a fuel efficient, high torque, high power engine that loves to rev, sounds amazing and best of all, it handles like a go-kart. Definitely not the fastest car I've driven, Mercedes Sl600 takes that prize, but definitely one of these most engaging, exciting and overall entertaining cars I've ever driven. I like many car companies and Honda is definitely in my top 5. Here's a little Honda fact for you; the Honda S2000's F20C engine held the record for the highest specific output of any naturally aspirated production engine for 10 years straight at 123.5 hp/L until it was finally beaten by the Ferrari 458 at 124.5hp/L. That's some seriously impressive engineering if you ask me ;)
TheJaisah yeap I just don't see why people spend so much money on cheap qaulity cars older Honda's have been the best in fuel miles out of some of the most high tech cars
Not even really a Honda fan, having only owned an S2000. But pulling is easier than pushing. There are countless videos of AWD supercars being absolutely thrashed by a K24. It's insane how powerful these little guys are.
Hell I'm in my 30s and still love Hondas and have built a pretty fantastic Honda for myself. It's true it starts in your youth but for some like myself we stick with them for a multitude of reasons. For me...Im no master mechanic but I love cars and Hondas are simple....but I think the biggest reason is driver experience. I've owned many cars...mustangs, a vette, jeeps, diesel trucks etc etc...but I always go back to Honda bc they are so fun to drive. Living in Colorado...the canyon roads are exhilarating. So many people just want to drive fast in a straight line or race in a straight line...sure that's fun...but that is a Hondas weakest point. Hondas excel on twisty roads and this is actually where a Honda is the most fun. Forget the large turbos and huge power numbers...a civic with right around 300whp or less is just right for ripping through canyon roads and having an absolute blast! Not every honda wants to race you...I know I dont...in fact I hate it when I'm just going for an enjoyable drive and some egotistical dude pulls up in his stock muscle car trying to race and running his mouth. They just don't get it...I like wrenching on my car...improving it myself...sure I could go out and BUY (keyword buy) a muscle car like anyone could...but Hondas allow creativity without going totally broke.
Dude I feel you on so many levels I got an 88 Volvo wagon lowered and camed for drifting on a good day she probably puts down a 145hp but I can slide through turns at 60 and have the time of my life.
Just keep it realistic. Don't try to turn it into a race car and fool yourself into thinking you've got something amazing. I've seen so many honda guys with delusions of being racecar drivers, and they think they're such hot shit. Stay down to earth and have some class. You'll get far more respect, and a lot fewer laughs.
The hatred towards Hondas and specifically Civics comes from idiotic American culture. There didn't used to be such hatred in Europe. That whole thing originated in America and spread like wildfire around the world to the point it became an internet meme.
people have a quite different attitude towards Hondas here in Norway. Ironically Honda Civic's are actually more popular among older people than young people. Ricers prefer BMW's and Volvo's here it seems.
People put attention to civics whether they like or hate them for any reason, they and their drivers take the criticism and or compliments from other people, but they are all sleeping on the newer gen Accords, V6 option manual transmission etc. We Accord owners are the real sleepers of the car community and if done right it can be an amazing car that lasts forever
Personally, I got into Hondas because my first car was a '91 CRX. Fell in love with it because it forced me to learn something I had no interest in before, which was automotives. Because I needed to learn how to maintain the car, and repair it myself (I'm not a wealthy person by any stretch), I started putting myself close to people in the local car scene. This allowed me to pick brains, learn things, and even get help when I needed it. This helped me to get to branch out and get to know people who I would have written off earlier in my life. And working on my own car taught me the value of working for what you want, which naturally spilled over into other aspects of my life. I have since parted with the CRX, in favor of a minivan. At the time, I just didn't have the resources available for both, and I decided the family friendly van would be a better fit for my family than the 2-seater with no backseats. Luckily I have since gotten a better paying position at work, and so has my wife, so we were able to obtain a 2001 Prelude. Still keeping the van, but it's nice to put myself back into a Honda when I want to have some fun. OH! And these cars are dead easy to fix, most of the time. I mean, my minivan took me 2 days to replace an alternator. 2 days to do what should have been a 2 hour job, max. I was able to do the alternator in the CRX in 6 hours. And that's only because the first 5 hours was spent trying to get a single bolt to break loose (again, poor at the time, so no power tools).
Reasons I love my 2013 Civic : -has never had any issues in the year that I’ve had it, even though I drive it way harder and treat it way worse than I did in my past cars, which broke down within months. -amazing gas mileage Things I hate about it -slooooww (still faster than my stupid Nissan though) -uncomfortable seats -too small and claustrophobic -people always want to go in my car when going places despite them having their own cars because mine “gets the best gas mileage out of the others” -the interior gets worn out very quickly. My parking brake button is already broken and I have to stick my finger in where the button used to be in order to release the parking brake.
I've had hondas pretty much all my life, now I own a full bolt-on/tuned 370z. You could say I've upgraded but believe it or not, I still miss my teggys and swapped civics.
a Teggy was my first car. David is right when he said that Honda's have almost an underrated feeling to them. I now own a Supercharged Rsx Type-S but even then still miss my old rusty / loud / Non-Vtec Teggy. That car is what turned me into a Honda lover.
Honda get so much hate because 4 cylinder engines smoke v8's... The other day a 2016 Camaro revved up on me...When the light turned green he was in my rear view mirror. 06 civic SI, Hatchback Naturally aspirated Bolton's only. Smoked that V8 by 3 car lengths.
The thing is.. FWD is a good way to corner fast like on small autocross course or time attack. It has its own benefits and those cars are sometimes even faster than RWD or AWD drive cars.
This video made me miss my Honda days. I think what I really admired was the longevity. The only car that has never left me stranded was... every Civic I've ever owned. Quite remarkable considering my driving habits at the time. ...I still love them but have since moved on to adv vehicles.
Yaboijoshc : Depending on the year of the accord, and with automatic transmission, there are accord transmissions known to be problematic, and slips and fails from even before 200,000 clicks. ( both the 4 cylinders and the 6 cylinders have the transmission issue, but happens little more with the 6 cylinders accords. I know someone who has had the 03 green accord with 180,000 clicks, transmission slipped and failed. ( 4 cylinders with automatic ). Someone else I know had the 01 black Accord with 190,000 clicks, transmission slipped and failed. ( 6 cylinders with automatic ). Same with another person I know, had the silver, 2000 accord with the 6 cylinders with automatic, slipped and failed, 188,000 clicks.
Yaboijoshc : Although I am currently unaware of which year accord you drive, with which engine and transmission, and mileage, I know that the automatic transmissions do fail before reaching 200,000 clicks, depending on the years it was made.
The Royal Crowned Tiger í have a 04 accord sedan automatic that i bought with 205k miles already (first car) i've have it for 1 year and transmition still good, i think is about the owner more than the car or maybe im so lucky as hell
Will Bermudez : Seems to me that for your car, its one of the possibilities. The car was looked after, the way it should be looked after, by the owners manual, atf and filter changes / serviced at manufacturer recommended intervals. The car had been gentle driven, and not by someone who abuses the car. ( The car has lived a easy life ). Maybe the car had the transmission rebuilt / replaced, by previous owner. Maybe the car was not driven much. Its not yet failed, but could be on its way there, also could have stop slip additive in there, maybe not yet noticible. Hope yours don't break down soon, transmission replacements are pricey, hopefully you get some years out of your car, before having issues with it.
Even the muscle car guys don't hate Hondas! They're great cars! It's the million stock Hondas with the super annoying fart exhaust on the back we hate.
Honda hit a new mark in the 90s. Everyone wanted to be them. Now, everyone still wants to be them and they still make great cars. They get outdone on the performance end at times, but that has changed recently.
@@wavymillzz6981 Down hill compared to what, exactly? I'm referring to a comparison to other auto makers. Their largest competitor, Toyota? Nissan? The Korean auto makers that are causing a stir? Honda pretty much continues to be the auto maker everyone wants to be. Now, they've started to put a beating on the higher priced AWD hot hatch competitors. That's kind of what Honda was always known for. I think Honda have stuck to their guns and what they know best... Engines! Where they really fell behind and lost fans is from styling. They like to play it safe because they need to keep making money.
@@filopride619 clearly, mr mouse bought a nissan Altima instead, and has since gone through 4 cvt transmissions. Everyone watches youtube on their phone. Especially people in your age range. Do u want us to hang here till 2022 pondering what ever happened to mr mouse, and his ek?? guys, just chill out. no one gives a flying purple polka dot fuck whether your Honda can walk muscle cars, or the other way around. it's not about being faster. just enjoy your ride and just ignore the hatera cos you're gonna get em.
Okabe Rintarou Well said. The fact that if you you make your car the way you want it, you'll get hate anyway annoys me. Even owning a stock car will give you hate these days... This is my biggest problem with the car community. What annoys me even further is that it is possible to dislike with respect and without hate, but still most will just go for the hate, just like with the Hondas or ricers. Sure ricers can be annoying too, but at the end of the day, if they aren't hurting anyone and not being disrespectful it doesn't really matter since it's their car.
I'm 29 and just bought my first civic, a 98 si (canadian si) completely stock mechanically, all suspension has been revamped geared towards handling, not stance. I'm super excited about how cheap it will be to maintain, and how fun it will be to drive on track. I'm coming from a 300whp/wtq STi, fun car but too expensive and stressful for what they are. Sure I'll miss the power but I'll get over it lol
Many of my friends have owned Honda's over the year's. Even after finding better jobs, and finding far flashier rides we still are loyal to the scene that defined that generation. We didn't forget, or act better than our roots. Bet other's can't say that without pause.
I love my EG SiR and I've had it for 22yrs now the engine is slightly modified with Skunks2 intake manifold,AEM air intake and modified exaust so it sounds deep like a tuner car,not those rattle can fart exaust,I always get compliments on my EG cause it's clean and looks like a sleeper.
ilovemanunited I wish it was the civic ex out here. I’d love my ex to be b16 powered. The Si-R came with a b16 unless it’s a Si-R VTi which was D series I believe. The EX here in America is a d16y8.
I got skunks2 headers stage 2 clutch and skunks2 cold air intake and intake manifold. Its a 89 hatch and I love it. Because its so light that 106 hp feels like 206 until I hit 4th gear
I stay away from the fart can but install a glasspack in the middle of my exhaust where the resonator muffler goes. Gives it a deeper growl without the pop can sound.
Its the car community as a whole in America that needs to take a serious look at its self. Ive been building and playing with Hondas since I was 17 and Im now 32. Ive had 4 civics one that is 400hp and I love it to pieces. I dont rag on Mustang people or any cars in general. But with that said the younger generation Honda owners give the real enthusiast a bad rep. Ive been to Honda day in Charlotte and the majority of the cars I saw at the gas stations were trash. People think thats all Hondas.
I feel very hated in the truck scene cause I like old fords. :( I just like the way they look! Civic can look cool too! especially the 80's ones. My freind had a silver accord that looked like a mini delorean and it was fast as hell!
Lance Bennett I just started doing stuff to my 92 ex civic sedan. I stripped it and it weighs about 2,000 pounds. It's naked lol. And I swapped with a SI engine and it's turbocharged. Super cheap lol. Just for the fun of it I put a fat spoiler on it lol. Fart cannon too.....but at least it had power! And he was right that it's the youth lol I'm 17 working on it with my two friends 🤘
I picked up an old 89 crx as a toy recently, not fast by today's standards but fast enough and fun! and honestly the older I get the more I realize that an average car that is fun to drive, is a better buy than a fast one that drives itself or can't handle for shit.
It's not the car! It's the drivers that are the problem. For what a Civic is, it's a pretty decent car. We can all admit that. Yes, stock, they're very slow. However, done correctly the Civic is a GREAT platform to put power into. The issue is most of the owners of Civics bought the Civic because they're a cheap platform and figured making performance would be cheap too, which it's absolutely not. If you want to turbo a Civic, it's going to cost $$$! HOWEVER, at the end of the day if you spend that money, it might be a better option than buying a different platform. Like I said, it's the drivers that give the Civic the bad name. I know some Civic drivers that couldn't tell you the difference between a supercharger and a turbo; and I've had to sit them down and explain it. There have been so many time at stoplights I get to where a Civic with literally just a fart can on it will try to race me; and it's so embarrassing that I don't even look at them, I just continue driving as if they weren't there. Just because it has "Vtec BROOOOOO" in no way shape or form makes the vehicle able to compete with sports cars fam. Congrats your 1995 Civic has DOHC which wasn't even a big deal back then... It really doesn't impress anyone now... At all. Yes I'm completely aware there's more to Vtec but surprise, most vehicles made after 2004 do the exact same thing Vtec does with more power. Now if you're willing to spend the time and effort to take that Vtec engine that revs out to like 9000 RPM and stick 300 horses into it, now we have a recipe that even 60 year old classic muscle guys might even take a look at. It's terrible that Honda people get this stigma and that you have to go so far to surpass what people expect from you, but let me put it this way, would you trust a convicted felon to baby sit your child? Probably not! Honda owners immediately get that reputation whether they want it or not, and it take EVERYTHING to prove that they're not just some dude with a fart can. In the mean time tell your Honda brotherin to stop doing stupid things to and with the car and over time we may start to see a change of heart!
Victory Road From my experiences I've met plenty of cocky douchebags in Civics,Integras,Mustangs,350,G35 so its not just Honda every car scene has them but I guess we can't blame the cars it's the drivers. Never been a fan of Hondas but I am starting to like the RSX Type S and S2000 there pretty cool cars.
BearsDkills why? Because I have an opinion on something? I gave a very logical and thorough explanation of why I think Hondas get the rep that they do. I'm sorry if that makes you want to murder me. I should die for having an opinion right?
I love my 90’ civic hatch, the thing weighs under 2000 pounds so it feels like your cruising around in a go kart lol, makes daily trips alot more enjoyable!
yeah never liked that fart can sound,I have a custom exaust with 2 1/2 pipe from the cat going to the resonator and leading to the Vibrant muffler and its got a deep tone sound and make my SiR motor sound aggresive.
When I was younger I hated Hondas with a passion. Fast forward to 2015 and im shopping for a car at a used car lot, saw a 05 Coralla S and a last gen Celica drove them and hated them. The Corolla would shake like fucking crazy and the Celica was a pain in the ass to get in and out since it was low to the damn ground. I was about to head home and out of the corner of my eye I see a black 05 accord coupe with duel magnaflow exhaust and a Team Sinister decal on the window, I sighed and said "oh God that poor car". I asked the guy if it's for sale he said yeah and I test drove it. Then and there I fell in love, bought it and took it home that same day. After 3 years *of the most reliable and fun years I've ever had with a car* I gave my dad the 05 since he didnt have a car and needed to get around and I bought myself an 06 accord coupe with the 3.0. That is how I fell in love with Hondas.....well atleast the Accords.
Like I made pretty clear at the end- at the end of the day I love Honda, they do pretty amazing things.
Thanks for watching guys!
Are you about that Vtec life?

If you're concerned with losing to a civic, you shouldn't be racing. If you lose to a civic in any race, there a good chance that civic is a very high performing car and should be recognized as such.

they do hate on hondas because of thier owners. wich is not very smart but well who said alle car enthusiasts are smart...
Lets be honest here
The sole reason Hondas are hated are *RICERS*
Ricers are just really poor tuners. I dont hate on those kids they are not educated on what it takes to build a car properly. It takes alot of time and patience. It took me 10 years to fully build my Honda.

I've never understood brand loyalty. I go with whats good regardless of who makes it and I enjoy what I enjoy.
Just basic tribalism brother. On people that dont have it are ones who like peace or are psychopaths (apathetic)
Same here
There are two types of brand loyalty.

Jonathan Martinez I think you might be onto something here.

Honda's are amazing and it hurts my soul when people talk shit about them. Fantastic engineering all-round, cheap and reliable. I know their a popular vehicle to rice, but it doesn't mean that the actual vehicle's built are shit.

Phoenix Intergrale Thanks, i was searching for this anwser
Gaskings is a piece of shit
Phoenix Intergrale describe the difference between Ricers & tuners what's your answer.
ikr hondas are amazing
My cents as a Honda owner / general car enthusiast
I'm gonna start off with saying that I'm not from America so the ricer Honda thing isn't really as big over here.
I dunno

That last paragraph about the jealousy, true shit.
lol why would anyone be jelous of a Honda civic? that car is a dime a dozen, and its slow.
Hondas aren't hated. Honda Drivers (ricers) are!
Youll go back an get one again after life happens. Trust me i want another an im in my early 30s now
Yeah maybe someday.
You hit the nail on the head friend!
NoGoodEG actually in Japan being a ricer with mega camber is life
WyreTheWolf couldnt have said it better myself!
NoGoodEG And yet they're extremely slow, and they're economy cars.
You might as well try to make a Prius a sports car.
200hp in a 1900lbs doesn't seem slow to me, keeps up with most cars on the track, maybe on the straights they pull away but in the corners it can keep up or even be faster, you don't need to have 500hp to be fast
"Straights are for fast cars, corners are for fast drivers"
A true gearhead loves all cars for what they are and what they aren't. Regardless of make.

I’m pretty sure the people who hate Honda’s are the ones who spend lots of money on a build and got smoked by little Honda
@a I've seen many stock Hondas that are pieces of shit that would kill you if you get into a 35 MPH crash, but that's New York State Rust for ya.
Laughing in my an 4.7 v8 awd turbo build
@really dude It happens a lot here in australia whether in a circuit or drag. So, sorry you don't know that.
Built not Bought labor.
he's not wrong about the Honda loyalty thing. I'm in my second Honda now and can't see myself in anything else lol

Get a full blown out muscle car and a built Honda. If they can't beat the Honda, they don't deserve to race the big boy. You'll hurt their feeling even more by making them feel even more worthless that you own two cars they can't beat!

Exactly, that's why I got a Civic. Cheap, easy to modify/work on, reliable, great MPG, and gas is very cheap.
Low gas per mileage not high

Well I must agree, up to the FN2 Civics were pretty fine.

Not very decently quick.
Because when theres is sitting in there yard broken down the honda is still going.

That's some seriously impressive engineering if you ask me ;)
Fancy way of saying "VTEC kicked in yo!"
And at less than a 1/3 of the cost.....
TheJaisah yeap I just don't see why people spend so much money on cheap qaulity cars older Honda's have been the best in fuel miles out of some of the most high tech cars

As much as we love to joke about Honda’s, they are such amazing cars
Most people do not have an issue with the cars themselves, they have an issue with the dumb kids who drive them and rightfully so.
Not even really a Honda fan, having only owned an S2000. But pulling is easier than pushing. There are countless videos of AWD supercars being absolutely thrashed by a K24. It's insane how powerful these little guys are.
This video id so true! My friend had a 2014 mustang gt and was beat by a Honda Civic. Then he bought a GTR!
Bark Eater He went from a mustang gt to a GTR ?? Lol ok
Bark Eater sounds like a lie
Yeh, his dad past away and left him a pretty good amount of money.
Bark Eater what a loser
Dad passes away so he wastes all his hard earned money on a GTR. What a bum
Derek Smith perfectly put.
Hondas excel on a twisty road..
Sure. Better than rwd or awd i guess
Dude I feel you on so many levels I got an 88 Volvo wagon lowered and camed for drifting on a good day she probably puts down a 145hp but I can slide through turns at 60 and have the time of my life.
I love Honda’s because they are just soooo tunable
Hondas are vesatile, i would like to have a Supercharged K24 CRX with 290hp for the twisties and also to kick some butt on the street.
Brand loyalty is the same with ford or chevy
It really is, mostly in rural areas.
You forgot about dodge, they are worse than Honda

Twisted Sanity Lol
Just keep it realistic. Don't try to turn it into a race car and fool yourself into thinking you've got something amazing. I've seen so many honda guys with delusions of being racecar drivers, and they think they're such hot shit. Stay down to earth and have some class. You'll get far more respect, and a lot fewer laughs.

The hatred towards Hondas and specifically Civics comes from idiotic American culture. There didn't used to be such hatred in Europe. That whole thing originated in America and spread like wildfire around the world to the point it became an internet meme.

People put attention to civics whether they like or hate them for any reason, they and their drivers take the criticism and or compliments from other people, but they are all sleeping on the newer gen Accords, V6 option manual transmission etc. We Accord owners are the real sleepers of the car community and if done right it can be an amazing car that lasts forever
nobody hates honda as a brand but they hate the ricers that own hondas
teddi robinson cuss where too gangster for u lames
If I had the coin, I would buy an S2000 at the drop of a hat.
Reasons I love my 2013 Civic :
-has never had any issues in the year that I’ve had it, even though I drive it way harder and treat it way worse than I did in my past cars, which broke down within months.
-amazing gas mileage
Things I hate about it
-slooooww (still faster than my stupid Nissan though)
-uncomfortable seats
-too small and claustrophobic
-people always want to go in my car when going places despite them having their own cars because mine “gets the best gas mileage out of the others”
-the interior gets worn out very quickly. My parking brake button is already broken and I have to stick my finger in where the button used to be in order to release the parking brake.
Civic Type Rs are genuinely some of the best fun you could get with your money
I've had hondas pretty much all my life, now I own a full bolt-on/tuned 370z. You could say I've upgraded but believe it or not, I still miss my teggys and swapped civics.
Johnny Salvattore just got a teg as my first car, it's def a lot of fun

Honda get so much hate because 4 cylinder engines smoke v8's... The other day a 2016 Camaro revved up on me...When the light turned green he was in my rear view mirror. 06 civic SI, Hatchback Naturally aspirated Bolton's only. Smoked that V8 by 3 car lengths.

haha you sound dumb af. bolton k20s make around 220whp and being around 2700 pounds, they can gap a lot of street cars

Quite remarkable considering my driving habits at the time. ...I still love them but have since moved on to adv vehicles.
honda is the third best selling vehicle in canada so if it's the most hated it's also one of the most loved. as well.
Well, its a world largest engine manufacturer. That might be the reason why honda is fucking awesome car
I just drive a Accord because it’s a reliable car and and I still get made fun of lol
Will Bermudez : I would say you got lucky.
Even the muscle car guys don't hate Hondas! They're great cars! It's the million stock Hondas with the super annoying fart exhaust on the back we hate.
Old Honda’s are good newer ones suck
Honda hit a new mark in the 90s. Everyone wanted to be them. Now, everyone still wants to be them and they still make great cars. They get outdone on the performance end at times, but that has changed recently.
weng demesa after 2007 they went down hill
@@wavymillzz6981 Down hill compared to what, exactly? I'm referring to a comparison to other auto makers. Their largest competitor, Toyota? Nissan? The Korean auto makers that are causing a stir? Okabe Rintarou Well said. The fact that if you you make your car the way you want it, you'll get hate anyway annoys me. Even owning a stock car will give you hate these days... This is my biggest problem with the car community. What annoys me even further is that it is possible to dislike with respect and without hate, but still most will just go for the hate, just like with the Hondas or ricers. Sure ricers can be annoying too, but at the end of the day, if they aren't hurting anyone and not being disrespectful it doesn't really matter since it's their car.
Marcelo Guia yeah man I think stock cars are great becuase stock cars usually can become collector cars or just be unique becuase it isn't modded

Philip Bahia isn't that just the civic ex in the US? Is the handling great?
ilovemanunited I wish it was the civic ex out here. I’d love my ex to be b16 powered. The Si-R came with a b16 unless it’s a Si-R VTi which was D series I believe. The EX here in America is a d16y8.
What exhaust did you get? I’m looking for a different exhaust on my ‘93 Accord.
Lance Bennett I started in the Honda scene at 16 am also now 32. Ive owned EF Hatch, EG Hatch b swapped turbo, Accords, and a couple 8th Gens.
Brian Da Lion Dude you're SLOWING the car DOWN putting a spoiler on a FWD car. Not to mention it looks stupid as hell.
Madmansmitty on a street car thats not hitting the track I agree but on the track it helps with weight transfer from the front to the back
My lil ek gets lots of love after 6 months of ownership ✊🏻
I have to admit, I love the old hatches and have thought about picking one up just as a way to save gas and possibly just enjoy some back roads.
I picked up an old 89 crx as a toy recently, not fast by today's standards but fast enough and fun! and honestly the older I get the more I realize that an average car that is fun to drive, is a better buy than a fast one that drives itself or can't handle for shit.
One problem about those 70's and 80's Hondas and just Japanese cars in general is they rust like a mother fucker.
Got my first Honda 6 months ago and I f***ing love it. It's so much fun driving a Honda! I don't know if I will ever change to a different brand.
Victory Road lol
Victory Road sorry vro, im skippin this one lol
Victory Road its the car
Victory Road From my experiences I've met plenty of cocky douchebags in Civics,Integras,Mustangs,350,G35 so its not just Honda every car scene has them but I guess we can't blame the cars it's the drivers. Never been a fan of Hondas but I am starting to like the RSX Type S and S2000 there pretty cool cars.
BearsDkills why? Because I have an opinion on something? I gave a very logical and thorough explanation of why I think Hondas get the rep that they do. I'm sorry if that makes you want to murder me. I should die for having an opinion right?
I'm 16 years old and I'm a Honda fanboy. Honda is the best and this video is so true. Great video man.
I love my 90’ civic hatch, the thing weighs under 2000 pounds so it feels like your cruising around in a go kart lol, makes daily trips alot more enjoyable!
the honda got hated because of the straight pipe fart exhaust. sounds like 200km/h in reality does 80.
Sir Naysayer you know people buy fart cans on Amazon right? They’re not stock exhaust pipes
yeah never liked that fart can sound,I have a custom exaust with 2 1/2 pipe from the cat going to the resonator and leading to the Vibrant muffler and its got a deep tone sound and make my SiR motor sound aggresive.
B series ej2 in 2019, we still rockin. Vtec❤
B series in ej2 too,2021❤
When I was younger I hated Hondas with a passion.
Good better fukn recognize.
