Followed this quite a few months ago for my PSP 3000 but forgot to comment then so I thought I'd come back and say thank you so much for fixing a problem that was driving me nuts for awhile lmao. I had so many people on different forums telling me my psp home button was stuck when I knew it was fine, turns out this was the problem the whole time. The PSP is still great to this day but some of the hardware design choices are definitely a product of their time 😂
That happened to me. I knew it was something with the UMD door, but never really looked into how it functioned, so I just finished playing the game I was on while squeezing the door closed. Now I know. Thanks.
I think you may have just helped fixed my problem with my PSP thank you man. It got so annoying to the point where It accidentally made me quit a game without saving and kept popping up everytime there was pressure on it. I think it's finally gone . I'm freeeee lol
Thanks alor brother i was rlly worried and frustrated due to thus issue couldn't play any game even teh slightest movement triggered the function but now its ok i cant thank you enough
Yes playing the game NEED FOR SPEED CARBON now after this fix ,mine was original one ,the tray was different but still has tabs that looked pushed up so thanks man this is cool ,reunited with my old friend :) Thought it was broken for ever :)
Thanks. I didn't even think there was a sensor there. I rarely touch the home button so I was confused why I was getting the error. Funny enough, I actually remember having a problem with the door when I was putting in the game I'm currently playing...
Thank you!! I literally kept playing my game thinking I was pressing it but werid enough it only did it a few times not everytime. (So probably caught it early before it got worse) But when you said it was stuck down I thought oh possibly but my button is nice and clicky but as soon as I bent those UMD pins forward a little it stopped doing it.
May i ask something. I already did what you say but it started blinking and I couldn't press the X button but X button has been repaired a few days ago
My psp is the 1001 model and doesn't have those metal prongs, but after I closed the door I noticed that the left side wasn't closed all the way, so I taped it shut with scotch tape and voila, problem solved.
Hi if anyone has this issue and this won't fix it I found out what the other issue was basically there is a black switch beside the umd spindle that detects when the umd is in place my PSP I bought second hand and it would read the game then say do you want to quit and constantly read and not read the game and would give errors so what I did was I got 99.9% isopropyl alcohol rubbed the umd sensor switch with a q tip with the IPA on it and now it works 100% hope this helps
It was definitely had something to do with the door so I just taped it shut because anything that taps just the corner of the door the message would pop up
Hey! Great video. I have an issue. I have a PSP go. whenever I turn on my PSP the time saver clock with the waves in the background shows up and won’t leave. It only allows me to look at the calendar alternatively. I can’t exit it. When I restart the PSP and it loads up it shows some games for a second before taking me to that clock. Ive spammed the x button and its taken me into the game it’s highlighted over BEFORE sending me to the clock, but once I exit the game it takes me to the clock and stays there. When i was in the game I could play perfectly, all the controls worked. What do i do?
Hmmm...no idea I don't own a PSP Go. But if you're having the issue, there's a chance someone else is too? I would definitely look on google for that issue.
This is a pretty common problem it seems! A while back my wife bought herself a psp and she had this exact same problem. That issue seems almost so unbelievable, but sure enough that was the solution. She may of even watched the same low lighting video for the fix. this should help!
Hi try rub the black sensor switch beside the umd spindle with a q tip and isopropyl alcohol and it should work 100% it worked for me after everything else did not work hope this helps

Glad to have helped! I thought it was my home button initially as well. Then when I discovered this fix, it all made sense.
That happened to me. I knew it was something with the UMD door, but never really looked into how it functioned, so I just finished playing the game I was on while squeezing the door closed. Now I know. Thanks.

@@ce5circle656 awesome! Glad it worked for you!
Great tip. I have not yet experienced this yet, but good to know if it ever pops up.
Sometimes, the simplest fixes are the best. Here's hoping it doesn't pop up as an issue.
Exactly what was wrong with the psp I just bought. I’m glad it’s working smooth now.
seen this before and I saw a lot of repair shops glue a small amount of thin crafting foam between the legs and the door.
Oh interesting. That's an idea.
Thank you! I've been having this problem for soooo long, and it was that easy to fix :D
Happy to help!

Yeah this only applies to the 3000 model since that's the one I have.
@@Dongled Even so, you still helped me. I never would've thought to look in the door if I hadn't watched this video.
Hello I got the same problem do I have to do for all the medal thingys or only the two on top
my psp go is wont quit the game. the button is cant be pressed
The Go is a completely different machine so these steps don't apply.
Awesome video! It worked!
My psp work just fine in the menu but when i start a game most of the buttons won't work and don't respond correctly
That sounds like something totally different.
@@Dongled yeah i just repaired it and the issue was in the start button.
ty btw
@@kerboundz2 glad to help!
How do you do it on the psp 1000?
No idea sorry!
@@Dongled it’s alr I kinda just pushed around the space around where the game goes and somehow fixed it lol

My psp 1000 doesn't have that metal X. I want to fix my psp too.
Yeah I don't think the 1000s do.
i have that problem even when i play games with memory stick any tips?
Hmmm i'd look over the latch for where it seals...see if there are any cracks or damage. Perhaps there's some dust in there? That's strange.
@@Dongled welp my backdoor for UMD is torn out and there is a spring that makes it impossible to close it
@@yungchem542 yeah that will probably do it.
@@Dongled so what can i do with it?
Thanks I had this same problem last year and thought I had to get a new PSP now I don't.

A simple solution for a simple problem. I'm surprised they didn't figure this out when they were making these.
Hey bro, I dont know what i must should do to fix this please answer me here.
What? I provided the fix. Watch the video. If that didn't fix your problem, it's something else.
I have the same error but I have a psp street and it doesn’t have this X
You mean a PSP Go?
@@Dongled not psp go, psp street that one only in Europe
@@MooshMoore Oh, weird never heard of that! Makes sense though, it appears to be Europe only.

Genius! Thank you
this appears to have worked for me. will comment here if it returns.
Sweet! Good to hear.
My psp gives the pop up like 3 or 4 times in a row every half minute, and doing this made it non stop pop up, so i basically made it worse
Weird. I'm wondering if something else is broken in your system? This I haven't experienced.
