No missing screws or broken parts, connectors etc just rigged back together instead of fixing it correctly. Thanks Steve, a pleasure to watch your videos.

For the second part. You can create a shim out of thin plastic and wedge it in to create presure against pins. Must be exact width as the ribbon cable.
It must be very thin plastic just enough to shim in. And create a wedge and push ribbon toward pins, it works very well when locking tabs get broken off

I don't know why the plastic clip that holds the wider ribbon cables on Playstation consoles always suck and break so easily. It's like they are too flimsy and cheaply made to hold the ribbon cable and just the slight pressure of trying to clip it back is enough to break them off. Happened to me on both a PSP and a PS3. Never was an issue anywhere else.

It's been a while since I've worked on one of these so maybe I just forgot how fragile they were on these. I feel like I was being careful so maybe it was partially damaged already. Or maybe I just wasn't being as careful as I thought I was.

@@Tronicsfix One of the flex cables was for the speaker that you were thinking was for the lcd screen, and then the lcd flex cable got broken which is very common when someone doesn’t have a lot of experience repairing PSPs. Another area a ton of people mess up is when removing the lcd screen; at the bottom right corner side they will bend the metal and ruin the screen. Overall you did fix it up, so props to you; plenty of scummy people would just sell it off to someone else after damaging it further rather than fix it fully. A glass faceplate lens could have also been glued in, which would have been nice to showcase.
I’ve been doing PSP repair full time for the past 5 years and do well with it. Certain motherboard repairs aren’t necessarily worth the time/effort, since I can get the replacement boards cheap enough. Typically a green light with no other power ends up being a board bricked due to custom firmware; it’s less common for it to be the result of a fuse

Some advice on removing the fuse. Use hot air slightly to the side of the fuse, but completely away from port. Once the board gets hot, the solder melts. If needed you can briefly push alittle air over fuse in a short burst like 1 sec and pull off. This would completely save the port.
Second option, if you do not have hot tweezers. Use a dab of low melt solder on each side of fuse and it will fall right off

I see many time that the big "reveal" of whether the fix is working or not is done only after reassembling completely the device... but that is clearly not how it was done, you surely tested the fix before re-assembling the console (as you did while troubleshooting) - after so many fixes it would be a big gamble to fully reassemble the console w/o testing it. Why not showing the way it is ? It would not spoil the end and it would just be more realistic. Thanks for your great videos, I'm learning a lot!

I do that because the video gets significantly more views if I test it after I reassemble it. It makes a more satisfying video...according to the audience retention graph.

I have. I still have them. I just don't use them much. I normally prefer just using hot air but tweezers do come in handy for certain jobs.

I wonder how many times you cut out and "make a story" not that it's false, but more interesting for viewer, like here no one in their right mind would assemble it fully before testing it while all loose.

I EFFN HATE that ribbon cable lock for the screen! The amount of times has that turned a simple replacement job into me into a scrap project.

Recently, I also changed the screen in my PSP Fat, which I have had since about 2005 (I bought it in Poland), I got a screen from aliexpress, for about $ 12 (I would prefer the same site as yours, but the cost with delivery to Poland is $ 60) . I will not forget that, of course, I messed it up when soldering, it's good that a friend of mine knows it, he repaired my console and there is an image, in general, after assembling the screen and assembling the whole thing, I noticed that the right D-pad button sometimes "presses" or doesn't work at all, only then after sticking a piece of tape under the cross on the right side it somehow works (let's say 90% of cases), why does this happen?

Very insightful, thank you for the video!
I have a PSP (model 2004) which works fine but doesn't charge via charging port. It charges via USB but as you probably know, USB charge in this PSP works only if the device is on. So, if the battery dies fully, I am unable to charge it via USB as the device is off. Then I need to charge the battery externally.
I have replaced the charging port with a new one, it didn't help. I know the charger works as I tested it with another PSP. What do you think the problem might be?
    Thank you in advance!
