Thanks to the universe that Colm lives in the time when the technologies allow to record his singing and provide access to a variety of people. Just imagine that even 60-70 years ago he could have sung in his town pub, and only his neighbours had listened to him.

The first best part is the 6 year old in my house giggling and dancing to this! The second best part is the three part harmony at the end! The third jumps in like your best friend at the pub who throw his arms around you and hits the high note while everyone stares with their mouths agape! Wonderfully done!! So fun!
I love to see people falling in love with the rich musical tradition of my homeland! Alan Doyle is one of the most prominent musicians from Newfoundland these days, but there's an incredibly deep and wonderful pool of musical talent from us Newfies. I'd love to hear you cover "Saltwater Joys" from Buddy Wassisname and The Other Fellers.
The most amazing thing about this video, is that Colm managed to use four tracks to be a one-man barbershop quartet. I think it is called "ring tone" or something, the effect that four properly-pitched voices, usually male voices simply because it works more easily with lower voices, can give where it kinda dances around the proper note and sounds amazing.
This was oddly healing to listen to. I don't usually expect that from this kind of song. I used to sing. But been going through some stuff and it's been years since I felt like singing to any real extent, at least anything happy. But this song has been stuck in my head for days, and rather than getting annoying, it's seeping out in humming, whistling, etc. Haven't noticed myself feeling like this in a long time.
I was so excited for this song to come out! I hope you never lose your spark to keep recording your singing, it makes a lot of people like me so happy to see. For those in the comments who don’t have a lot of choir experience, I can confirm this is way cooler than you might think at first. Please help me support this legend cause he’s a gift.
This might be a tad random, but hear me out: I’d really love to hear you cover ‘Shiver My Timbers’ from Muppet Treasure Island, Colm. Yeah, it’s a bit silly, ha, but I’m positive you’d make a gloriously epic thing of it. : D And I’m also sure that this one will be amazing! Can’t wait! Edit: yep it was spectacular. That one’s going on all the playlists! Thank you kindly for the lovely music, sir!
If he does it then I demand that he get a muppet likeness of himself to use in the cameos. (One with movable eyebrows). BTW Colm, this song was awesome.
Colm has the best voice in the top range and when he starts to get in the low range and he has helped me in my darkest times just by listening to this song
Bro, you OOZE talent. I just wanted to thank you for being the voice of the many pirate songs I play in my Dungeons & Dragons campaign. If you ever want to make a guest appearance as a traveling bard, i'd simply lose my mind. But until then, ROW ME BULLY BOYS ROW!
Oh this is such a happy one! At least you were definitely having a good time. Fan tip: to know which Colm is singing which part, just base the register on eyebrow position. Higher notes mean higher brows, lower brows are those yummy rumbling bass lines
Hands down the best tooth paste ad I've ever seen 10/10! All jokes aside this is one of my favorite shanties (regardless of whether it's historical or not)
It's beautiful to me that some crew of some ship we'll never know of must've made this up on the spot and it spread enough to be known centuries later to even be here for the invention of audio recording, and spread even further around the world 150 years after that by everyday nobodies each separated by hundreds of miles on Tiktok
Another addicting song to listen again and again. Very great job this song is just lifted up with colms amazing voice. Its songs like this one that colm does that makes me wish I could dance.
I wish I had your vocal genetics. I'm a bass in my church choir. Some church songs have what is called "basso profundo" or "Russian bass." It's basically an octave below what is possible for normal people. You are one of the few who can reach such a vocal range.
Here I was listening to your music on Spotify and this song came on …. I listened to this on UA-cam a lot and you got it on Spotify now. Keep it coming. Your music makes drives much more enjoyable now. Thanks for all the hard work you put in this.

I've had this song stuck in my head on and off for a decade, thanks to its brief use in the Robin Hood movie. I had no idea it was an actual song until I stumbled across this video. I understand it's a cover, but this is far and away the best version. You've literally made my day. Just bought the song on iTunes so I don't have to keep refreshing this page haha - cheers!
Oh! Com on! I don’t know if we have guests tomorrow in the evening! You can’t do this to me! But I will watch it later. I’m sure it will be awesome! And I won’t COLM down until I watched this Video! (Is the grammar right? I’m 15 and German! I’m still learning...)
A few mistakes. In the second sentence it would be "Come on!", in the third sentence it wouldn't be "don't know". Instead use "didn't know" that's the past form of it. Although I'm also not 100% sure as I also live in Germany
If you want to sound more casual, you can conjugate words together like "it'll" instead of "it will" or "wanna" instead of "want to". Solid work regardless! Greetings from California 😊
The lines "we're in a hurry boys, we've got a long way to go" bring to my mind the evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940. This is our last chance, we bid farewell to France... Row, me bully boys ROW!
As someone that grew up with Alan Doyles music, sir - this is in my opinion a much better rendition (no knock to Alan Doyle) I love it so much dude, keep it up!

Funny aul’ world we live in, right? Cheers for the kind words mate! 🙏
Word! What a talent we would have missed. I love technology sometimes hahah
Hahaha, you forgot about the technology to modify his voice. You honestly missed that? Are you deaf? Did you listen to this with brail?
@@이이-n4z8y The voices are stacked (to emulate a chorus), not modified.
@@이이-n4z8y i think its more of a compliment to colm that you think hes using a voice modifier
I love to hear Colm cover warcraft's "daughter of the sea" shanty, could just imagine how awesome that would sound
YES!
Omg yes please, I would LOVE to hear him do that epic shanty!!
Virgin Zandalari-horde Navy vs Chad Kul Tiran Navy

Wow this is amazing!!! 🤩🤩🤩

And it's row, me bully boys, we're in a hurry, boys
We got a long way to go
And we'll sing and we'll dance and bid farewell to France
And it's row, me bully boys, row

Row, me bully boys, row
Us sailors like both but we can't get us none
And it's row, me bully boys, row
And it's row, me bully boys, we're in a hurry, boys
We got a long way to go
And we'll sing and we'll dance and bid farewell to France
And it's row, me bully boys, row
Well, farewell my love, it is time for to roam
Row, me bully boys, row
The old blue peters are calling us home
And it's row, me bully boys, row
And it's row, me bully boys, we're in a hurry, boys
We got a long way to go
And we'll sing and we'll dance and bid farewell to France
And it's row, me bully boys, row

You had me at Alan Doyle. I am truly loving everything you've done and eagerly awaiting the next one.

Colm, I'd love to hear your take on the song "16 tons" (recently covered by Geoff Castellucci of Voice Play).
I think that would kick off an epic rivalry between the two.
I'd be interested to hear Colm do it as well. I love Geoff, but he's so smooth that I miss the consonants. I've never had issues with Colm's diction.
