I learned about Pirate Metal in February while our oldest son was going through rehab in hospital following his heart transplant. Playing it motivated him: he's a huge heavy metal and Pirate Metal fan.
I don't know if this video is pirate metal or (european/viking/celtic/etc) folk metal. But these are three songs that I like and will take you to the pirates metal genre: 1) Orden Ogan - We are pirates 2) Alestorm - Wolf of the sea 3) Vision of Atlantis - Return to Lemuria
I wonder if the Techno Viking is still around. Him jamming around in the front with his dance moves, you two going hard, vibing out close behind ... Would be an awesome party.
It's amazing what happens when modern technology and virtuoso musicians meet. Comparable to the collision of two nucleoids creating a particle of Gods. A gift to the ears and the soul. Thanks for that!
not sure how something this random crossed my feed, but now i have to look up everything she has posted, and you as well. what an amazing improv. i'm gonna download it & clean up the transitions so it plays like a planned studio track. awesome riffs & solos from you both. i wish i could give it more likes.
@@MilodeVries it might take me a week before i'll have time to work on it. but when i do, i'll come back here & try to post a link. hopefully YT will let me.
Whoa. That was outstanding, I can't believe it wasn't rehearsed! Being able to improv with someone like this is like magic. Had a lot of fun watching this, great stuff!
It’s akin to an electric guitar. 11:03 just noticed she has 7 strings, I believe that lets her cover violin, viola and cello (upper notes) range of notes.
Mia launching into a few bars of "What do you do with a drunken sailor" right after the Dubstep breakdown was so musically and narratively perfect! Well played, miss. Well played.
I'm Viking but Pirate Metal is the hottest new thing, this is one of the best videos I ever seen. Something to be said about loving what you do and doing what you love, the vibe is infectious.
Fun fact: "Pirate Metal" was solely invented by two German bands - Running Wild - Riding the Storm: ua-cam.com/video/klbaF9SPyBk/v-deo.html Zed Yago - United Pirate Kingdom: ua-cam.com/video/Mhwane9kAUA/v-deo.html
Dude 4:56 - 6:43 is so good. I never expected a collab like this and I've never appreciated a violin/violinist so much. The long drawn-out guitar underneath it... So badass!
I think you've internalized your separation, so subconsciously you're saying 'apart' when you want to be 'a part' of something, not apart from something.
WOW, lost for words. This performance collaborated from musicians that are on Social Media may have been one of the best I've seen. I follow both of you and LOVE that you share your music. "The devil went down to Georgia" about a month ago was really good but this topped it for sure.
Wouldn't call it metal persay, but holy hell was this fun! Came for something different, and stayed for the amazing performance! Thank you both so much! ❤
Love the arm's man, really feeling the groove. Mia has some great stuff. Glad y'all ran into each other. So much great stuff when musicians jam together.
I have loved these videos. My best high school piano teacher was from Latvia. Her name was Nara Snornieks. She was quite a formidable teacher but because of her and others I became a concert organist until I lost my sight when I was 58. I love what you do! - Chris
It took me like 35 minutes to watch this for the first time because I kept rewinding to re-watch a dozen great moments. Outrageously entertaining improvisation by masters of their craft. Thank you for sharing this and so many other amazing performances over the years!
Who listened to this more than once in a row? Considering metal wasn’t around in the old pirate days, this is exactly what I would imagine metal sounding like back then. Amazing improvisation the two of you. Well done! Bravo! Sounds like something I’d hear in a pirates Disney movie. The impromptu sword fight towards the end was just absolutely fantastic and a nice touch!
The island off of Savannah, GA, called Tybee Island has a weekend festival called "Pirate's Fest". Everybody dresses like pirates and has a good time, and they do a parade, etc. That is actually this weekend, so this is great. I'm not a big fan of pirate's fest, but I am a huge fan of Dovydas and Mia. You guys are amazing as always.
Dovydas!!!! This is why I watch your channel.... To see you take an idea and then create music, your layering skills are unsurpassed in my opinion as is your creativity and talent, absolutely incredible, to be totally honest there are times when I do not know or even care for a song you may be performing however the talent and skill you bring as one person being able to sound like a large band bringing it all to the stage with your personality makes it all worthwhile thank you so much for being on UA-cam and being accessible and for sharing all of your wonderful creative talent. Music is everything, music is life!!! and remember love wins always no matter what every time. Peace Love, light and blessings to you and anyone reading this.
Dude you were great, she was gorgeous and an immensely talented violinist, its incredible how much emotion that instrument can invoke in the hands of such a talented violinist. When you played your fast riffs i watched her get this look in her eye that said i got that and im gonna smoke these strings
interesting. Almost sounds like Mongolian metal music and Mongolian throat singing. You both should try teaming up with the Mongolian Metal group, The Hu, for a session.
I saw a Mongolian rock group in Genève, Suisse, maybe 18y ago... and the CD I bought was just re-found a week or two ago. ❤ The guitarist we saw on stage, said something funny, as I recall: "We write songs about the things we love ~ our women, and our horses... maybe not in that order." 🎉😂😂🎉
I really am a big fan of Mia Asano. She truly is a talented musician and such a beautiful person. She let the other guy play and didn’t try and over the piece. She really is class!
This was freaking fantastic! I loved every minute of the fun wacky energy and the sound rocked! This is my favorite new Dovydas video so far and the first time seeing this talent and amazing violinist. BTW, isn't the guy dancing in the background Sean Daniel the musician , guitarist/ukulele guy who has his own YT channels? I would recognize his voice anywhere as he sounds just like Steve Martin to me. Except he has an accent where he adds an "a" at the end of a lot of his words. I like his uke tutorials, he's a great teacher.
That place you rented has an incredible surrounding jeez, Nice seeing you improvise on new themes again & again :) Dovydas the goofy/cringy as hell Lithuanian x). Love you bro
I don't know what it is but lately every time I see musicians truly enjoying themselves and just losing themselves to the moment and music it just makes me cry happy tears.
Sick jam session bro and broette. I love pirate metal, and hearing an improv session was incredible. When I hear good music, I immediately move towards it... so I am a bit puzzled why so few people are there. Great stuff!

Well actually his European version of Pirate Metal is a lot different than the Pirate Metal I'm used to but it's not bad.
I learned about Pirate Metal in February while our oldest son was going through rehab in hospital following his heart transplant. Playing it motivated him: he's a huge heavy metal and Pirate Metal fan.
Me either. It is really good though
Same here! Who knew?
One of my great pleasures in life is listening to brilliant musicians improv together.
