No chance.
Well done. I love the dramatic tone of it, the darker nuance and the slower pacing. Epic 👏
I sure didn't
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
I surely didn’t
Polish version of this song is my favourite shanty ever so i'm glad that you cover it
It blows my mind that you got the legends themselves Seán and Nils to do a song together! That’s wild!
When you are legend yourself it isn’t that hard, right Colm?
@@itanchiro5524 that’s fair lol. Colm is pretty badass.
Well Ubisoft did it lol
why? he is extremely good , i have no ideea who they are to be honest but i would love to sing with him given the chance( i don't sing, i'm not trying to strike a deal or anything)
@@janteo1 Colm IS amazing I’ll never deny that. Seán and Nils are legends in the shanty Genre/community. Both of them did most if not all the shanties in Assassins Creed Black Flag.
I love the darker tone of this song! It's heavy, it's rough, and it's epicly orchestrated. It makes me think of a crew who are headed off on some dangerous mission, from which they may not return. Great job all!
Makes me think of Master and Commander lol
Hostilities or war breaking out between Spain and England, so they have to leave the Spanish port for their safety, but they might get attacked by a warship before they make it to safe harbor.
Edward Teach
or
Big Tom Cutter who was a nobles bastard son
A dangerous mission you say? Like going out to hunt a man eating shark in a small bout with a total of 3 men, perhaps?
Its sadder than that if you know the history. Imagine being ordered to abandoned the family you made while fighting in Spain. You helped her free her country you may have gotten married and had a child with her, then the order comes that your lewving and not allowed to take her with you, youre ordered to be a deadbeat.
As a Spanish lady, I feel honoured for such an emocional song in my name
My sister in law is Spanish too. And she also is a truly beautiful person, heart and soul
Damn.
That really... shiverd me timbers.
Two Black Flag legends and one of the best shanty and folk singers on UA-cam coming together for one of the gratest shantys with a fantastic interpretation.
What a pleasure.🐋⚓️🐋
wondrin if they'll do honors to those who went out at the Barbary coast
This is remarkable. Colm, Sean, and Nils all in one video? On a song as great as Spanish Ladies? This is a delight, gents, a delight.
Hearing Nils and Sean together again takes me back, man. What a beautiful rendition.
For those who wish to sing along, pieced it as best I could:
Farewell and adieu to you Spanish ladies,
Farewell and adieu to you ladies of Spain,
For we’ve received orders for to sail for Old England
And we may never see you fair ladies again
We’ll rant and we’ll roar, like true Irish sailors
We’ll rant and we’ll roar all on the salt seas,
Until we strike soundings in the Channel of Old England,
From Ushant to Scilly is thirty-five leagues
We hove to our ship, with the wind at sou’west, boys,
We hove to our ship, deep soundings to take,
In forty-five fathoms with a white sandy bottom,
We squared our maintops’l, up the Channel did make
We’ll rant and we’ll roar like true British sailors
We’ll rant and we’ll roar all on the salt seas,
Until we strike soundings in the Channel of Old England,
From Ushant to Scilly is thirty-five leagues
The first land we sighted was called the Dodman,
Next Rame Head off Plymouth, Start, Portland, and Wight,
We sailed by Beachy, by Fairlight and Dover,
And then we bore up for the South Foreland light
We’ll rant and we’ll roar, like true British sailors,
We’ll rant and we’ll roar all on the salt seas,
Until we strike soundings in the Channel of Old England,
From Ushant to Scilly is thirty-five leagues
Then the signal was made for the grand fleet to anchor,
And all in the Downs that night for to lie;
Let go your shank painter, let go your cat stopper,
Haul up your clewgarnets, let tacks and sheets fly!
We’ll rant and we’ll roar, like true British sailors,
We’ll rant and we’ll roar all on the salt seas,
Until we strike soundings in the Channel of Old England,
From Ushant to Scilly is thirty-five leagues
Now let every man drink up his full bumper,
Now let every man drink up his full glass,
We’ll drink and be jolly, and drown melancholy,
And here’s to the health of each true-hearted lass
We’ll rant and we’ll roar, like true British sailors,
We’ll rant and we’ll roar all on the salt seas,
Until we strike soundings in the Channel of Old England,
From Ushant to Scilly is thirty-five leagues
MVP
I think it's south Portland in this version. the the original is 'Next Rame Head off Plymoth, off Portland the Wight' which makes more sense as the isle of wight is off the coast from portsdown hill
I’m pretty sure I sang a verse comprised of a whole lot of nautical jargon..I can barely make it out myself 😅.
There are many many versions..
So glad to see the success of this song, thanks to enthusiasts like yourself! Colm’s doing great things!

As a sailor myself, it does seem as though we are speaking another language sometimes, I gotta say.
In case you wanna know some of the jargon used in the song:
-the "shank-painter" was a chain used to hold the anchor's shanks to the side of the ship and away from the water.
-the "cat-stopper" chain had a similar, though more important function. When the shank-painter was loosed, all the anchor's weight rested from the cat-stopper. It was called that because it attached to the cathead, a wooden beam which held the anchor clear of the ship so that the hull would not be damaged.
When time came to lower the anchor, the shank-painter would first be removed, and then the bosun would shout "let go the anchor!" and the ship's carpenter would strike away the wooden block (or, "dog") that kept the chain in place, letting the anchor fall.
-"clew-garnets" were ropes that attached to the lower corners or sails (called clews) which were used to help furl them.
Hope this helps! Great singing!
song always makes me think of Jaws
This feels like an initially reluctant mixed crew of Irish and English sailors having a back-and-forth banter in song form after spending long enough at sea and being through enough together to consider each other compatriots. Good vibes :)
Sean Dagher and Nils Brown are legends! What a treat!
Does Nils have a You Tube?
I'd like to hear more of his singing.
@@sjenny5891 im not sure but he did a lot of songs for both the AC Black Flag and AC Rogue games.
@@sjenny5891I’m around. This and Nils Brown Music. You guys are so nice!
You’d be surprised though..a lot of classical etc😅
This?

I like this.
I play your videos for my 10 month old son, and he squeals and smiles excitedly every time he sees you. He adores you.
From the USA, you have a little fan! 🤗
Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us.
All three voices together....POWERFUL!
the harmonies and emotion in this feel especially intense (affectionate). you all have such strong voices; this made for a gorgeous collab! plus the instrumentals in this were so solid. god, I'm so insanely excited for the album tomorrow!
First heard this song in the Masterpiece “Master and Commander.” You did not disappoint!!!!! You have the perfect voices for it, and I love the tweak from “British” to “Irish.” Lol 😂
What a pure voice master Hollom/Ingleby had...
Who needs a crew to sing shanties, you 3 lads channel the entire god damn fleet singing all at once with that last part. Good show, good form Colm!
Oh my goodness the voices together are just too perfect👏 so hyped for the album! Thank you for this gem!😄
I remember watching Jaws as a kid and hearing Robert Shaw singing the American version of this. Great job, Colm.
Robert Shaw was a hell of an actor.
everyone changes the original lyrics
When a I saw you did this song with Sean and Nils I instantly had to listen to it. Two absolute legends that ooze passion with their singing. Gosh, that ending part gave me goosebumps, especially Sean's belting! Thank you for this absolute amazing rendition of this song!
Sea shanty score for the win!! It definitely portrays a darker tone of ship travel, it wasn't all treasure and fun... it was a hard life and not everyone could do it. The slower pace works well. Love it, and can't wait for the album release on November 17th !! 💚❤👏🏴☠
one thing i have loved about this genre of music is the colaberation, how all the artists work together. just amazing
I remember singing this with my uni lads on our holiday in Spain absolutely shit faced surrounded by bronzed stunners and we started singing this and the locals loved it ahaha. We loved watching Master and Commander and still do hence where we first heard this song
Great story! And tactic..
Gotta love that "like true Irish sailors" 🇮🇪
Adding this to my Shanties playlist immediately right now today as asap as possible
Shiver me timbers
“We’ll rant, and we’ll roar like true *Irish* sailors.”
Made me smile.
I have no idea who mr. Sean and mr. Nills are but they definitely have incredible voices.
They sang the sea shanties in a game called Assassins’ Creed: Black Flag, they’re fairly legendary in that community.
They're are effectively the father's of the shanty resurgence. They worked ont he soundtrack for assassin's creed 3, 4 and rouge.
Truly harrowing. A phenomenal rendition. You've been at this for years and only received a fraction of your due regard. Pray, don't stop. Keep em coming.
That last chorus! Woof! 👍❤️
I love that you changed the lyrics to match you more in the first chorus! I couldn't stop smiling when I heard "Irish sailors!" I also love that you worked with Sean Dagher for this song! I listened to a lot of his shanties before, and it was very nostalgic to hear him again!
This is excellent!❤
The version Quint sang in Jaws is still my favorite though.
Yes!! Who else remembers this from Jaws?
For we received orders to sail back to Boston. And n'ere will we sail again.
That was the first time I remember hearing Spanish Ladies
I cannot be happier for this new album to drop. I have waited for this day for a long time. I already know that the wait will be very much worth it!
😳My hairs stand up for this shanty. BRAVO 👏 BRAVO 👏 . Stellar performance! ❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏👏👏
Men , I found myself applauding in front of my phone like my grandfather used to in front of TV hearing epic choirs ... The feeling is nostalgic embed with respect.
dude I love your music. its amazing having someone bring shantts back to life like you do. Can't wait for your album.
Not only do I love this song in general but this version is simply amazing! especially the ending really got me hyped! Amazing job by everyone involved!!
I Love this song! I'm Ecstatic you've done it!! Cannot wait for the New album Congrats on another banger! Keep Colm and carry on!
That ending was absolute fire!!!!
I feel like I've just returned from an epic voyage, carried on by the winds of this epic song. Masterfully done good sirs, masterfully done indeed.
I can't really put into words how good I think this is cause words won't do it justice. All I can say is I love it.
Nothing better than a sea shanty in the evening to remind me how much I want to buy myself a boat and sail out for new stories:) Awesome as always😁
Crazy to think two days ago I was singing this while doing chores. Then, you share this amazing arrangement. Makes me so happy! You guys are amazing, thank you!
Great respect 🙏 from France 🇨🇵
Hisse et haut 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
Это очень круто, за последнее время одна из самых классных песен, спасибо, люблю такое)
I love hearing these guys together ❤️
Wow, 2 music in just 1 week? We're getting spoiled. Thx Colm for this another fantastic video.
What a stunning collaboration! Well done to all!
Had me grinning like an idiot, love from South Africa
This is now the definitive version of this song for me. This is important to me, as a setting-appropriate version of it is essentially the reason I play one of the characters I do in TTRPGs.
wow is too simple a word-one of the most powerful songs heard in long time-rich,moving and every word clear-amazing job by all three of you-continued success and love to hear more from three of you...
How have I not stumbled on Sean or Nils until now? Fantastic song! Love all of y'all!
Instant Classic! Absolutely Amazing! Well done! Can't wait to see more like this by you!
just fantastic
shivers
I kind of can't get over how good this is; it legitimately made my jaw drop. My GOSH. New favorite version of one of my favorite trads for sure. Thankee' Cap'n!!

That finish.....it peels your scalp back! This song makes me wish I had gone on more adventures so that this could have been the soundtrack to my memories.
What an epic collab! So amazing, three of the best shantymen around. It was neat to hear the part with the hollering, Sean is really belting it out! Thanks, lads!
WOW! Gave me goosebumps! Stirring and beautifully done rendition of a timeless shanty song.
WOW!
Wow! Here's some shanty star power. Fantastic. I love the passion and total commitment shown by everyone performing it. Best version I've heard in 50 years as a shanty fan girl

Aye 3 legends.
I have to be honest, it sounds like a song that would be in pirates of the Caribbean, it sounds so good!
Incredible!!!
I have no words. Incredible.
Pub time now!! Me mattes bring rum and more rum its pub song night. Colm just can't stop making my mindblowfrom his voice and playing. Love all the voices in this song they are such a great match.

Was already looking forward to the new album but this one knocked the taste out of my mouth. Fantastic work as always, gents!
Been dreaming of this since your feature on Seans cover of "The Dreadnought".
Love this Cover! Sounds absolutely stunning. Some real magic at work here
After a couple of brews and hearing this absolute master piece, me and the lads want to let the tacks and sheets fly and hit the waves with a song in out hearts
Perfect.
