@ 2:12 There's a lovely lady in a teal dress with a long 'pearl' type necklace in this video, at the far right of the screen. Back for a few frames at 2:35, 2:50, 3:08, & 3:32 she's at centre screen, dancing and singing, and enjoying herself ! Love it, you go girl !
OMG, the sharpest thing ever is irish folk, the shanty stands as such. and the tonality of Doyle's voice. RAWR! and as a US libertarian I'm rowin' as hard as I can rn. This music is packed with hope, GO, and love. Fantastic. ❤
here's the thing Hoss, those other versions? just people on youtube making up their own lyrics to fill out half a song Alan wrote 12 years ago before he eventually flushed it out himself. Look it up, Personally, I prefer Alan's version.
Well it was sung in Robin Hood, which is about the British. And the lyrics contain the British slang word "bully". And the "bid farewell to France" part references the longstanding wars between the two nations.
Which is why it was called "irishy-sounding sea shanty", he never said it was Irish. It's not British either just because it was sung by people playing Robin Hood etc. We have a song in the style of an Irish sea shanty using some British slang words, written by a Canadian, performed by two Canadians, an American and an New Zealander/Australian all playing a role in a movie.

Gramms? Hey Mom! I found Gramms!
I love the man as a performer. He gets so well-connected with his audience. If I only had a fraction of the stage presence he has.
I love his crowd interaction

My 8 and 5 year old granddaughters always want this song played

Anyone else thought the guy on the thumbnail was Ozzy Osbourne?
なんて素敵なんだ
So strange seeing him without his beard lol.
Nothing Irish about Bully Boys. Straight up British song (like most shanties).
I come from a line of sailors and I agree 🇬🇧
Preferred it when he used an English accent
Except the song isnt Irish, it's British lol
