The T and T Paradigm is a fine casting "dry fly" oriented rod with a nice touch, enough energy to get the job done, and a fine finish. We reviewed the 9' 4 weight on this video, it's a great dry fly rod!

Good explain.
You are good cast instructor.
A day in guide with you must be nice fly fishing day!!
Had a Thomas & Thomas for years. Great company.
Just wanted to say, watch in your videos help very much. Thank you and rock and roll from Maui
Thanks dude. Much appreciated!
I have this rod in 8'4 #4 and that was the better rod i have never had, this is a very medium action ( and is not the same for winston pure and sage trout LL who is a medium fast for me ).
I can fishing with a wind front of me, and cast nymph to 2,8mm tungsten beads at 35 ft with precision.
Very good stability and without vibration on the blank.
Very sweet and smooth, it's very a pleasure to cast and fish.
Excellent video, some very helpful and useful tips, do enjoy your videos. Thank you
I am new to your channel and must say I am extremely impressed with your skills and knowledge about fly fishing. Thanks for the video and what a superb rod.
Thanks Pierre, really appreciate it. Love what I do here at Red's.
The Avantt is fantastic. I'd love to see you do a video with that. The 9 foot 5 weight with the old Lamson Speedster goes great. The right line made it really great for me
Very good tips there. You make great fly fishing clips
Great casting tips. Thanks!
You bet, thank you. The technical dry fly casting game is the heart and soul of this sport.
Hey Joe, have you guys thought about doing any kind of all-inclusive Red’s Reward Program? It would be great if spending thousands of dollars on gear, guiding, trips, lodging, etc. could earn point that could be used on more of this at Red’s. Thanks for everything!
You know we've talked about it, and it's a good idea. It's not the first time someone has asked. Can you suggest a business you've seen do this well?
REI does it best IMO. Sets you up w/ a lifetime account that logs all of your purchases for easy return, and gives you 10% back on every purchase.
I have an original Paradigm from T&T. Got it around 1998. Its a 9' 5 weight 2 piece.
Oh no kidding, I didn't have the opportunity to cast the original. The new one is slick.
@@redsflyshop its a slow action rod. Based on your review of the new one it sounds as though they are very similar.
I have a 3 piece 4wt Paradigm that’s 20+ years old. Great rod and great video.
I have many OG Paradigms and the entire new Paradigm series. Each and every one of the new and old rods is fantastic! The new 904-4 is closest in action to the OG Paradigms imho. The rest of the newer rods have an action between the OG Paradigm (slightly more moderate) and the old LPS series (which leans slightly more towards medium fast). All are fantastic and highly capable trout rods. Imho some of the best trout rods ever made!
Love my T & T rods! Definitely on the expensive side but the quality is evident. Thanks for sharing! BTW, what reel are you using here?
That is a Sage CLICK. It's been with me forever and held up very well. Light and simple, good dry fly or light tackle reel.
I have become a big fan of T&T. My dream rig is their Lotic 5 wt paired with a Nautilus x frame. Or the 3 wt with a Ross Colorado
They build such a nice rod. Small company, high level craftsmanship.
I own the whole Paradigm and Lotic series. They are all fantastic trout rods. You will love them!
Hi Joe, great content as always. Two things- who are the casters you study and mimic? You’re a great caster yourself, so I’m curious to know.
Last thing…I’ve been practicing my casting and had never tried this but have seen several people do it- when you’re casting for precision, aside from all the things you mentioned, I’ve confirmed that rotating the rod 45 degrees such that the reel is pointing outwards or away from your body, makes a heck of a difference in how the line shoots and lays on the grass. The piece of yarn, used in place of a fly, drops first and doesn’t bounce around as it might otherwise do when casting with the reel under the rod. Wondering whether you have noticed it as well and what you’re take on it is. It’s pretty remarkable.
Can that 4wt dry fly rod throw big hoppers? Would it compliment an ESN rod? Thanks
Yes it sure can, it's really nice as long as you keep your leader length sub 9' and tippet at 3X preferably.
I'm new to fly fishing and wanting to focus on dry flies and trout. Can you recommend the Paradigm 4 wt or 5 wt? 8'4 (4) or 9'?
I would start with a 5 weight. It's the core. You'll be more versatile and be able to handle the widest variety of scenarios. Just my 2 cents! Thanks for asking and following the channel.
Why do you speed up your casting rhythm with the 2 false casts, then final delivery? I saw you demo this at the Boise Fly fishing expo last month, looks great, but didn't get to ask this question.
Casts can only speed up in tempo and the first two are you working all slack out of the line in a gradual fashioned as to not "shock" the rod. You can slowly increase the tempo working the load deeper and deeper into the rod. Acceleration is good, deceleration is bad.
1:02 - that stripping guide looks like it was put on backwards... Perhaps only an aesthetic consideration, but I've never seen this before.
They purposely make them that way. Supposed to perform slightly better from what I recall from other reviews.
If you are selling then please disclose price first not all of us can afford certain rods prices. And also will save as time thanks 🙏
Ok, good advice thank you.
Wish I could just cast 50% of what this guy can do. Lol
