    You’re attention to detail is 2nd to none. Everything you you do on the water is calculated and shows how good of an angler and guide you really are. Always appreciate the videos being new to this hobby.

    This is undoubtedly one of the finest fly fishing videos I've come across, and it's without a doubt your best work yet. It's refreshing to see a focus on mending techniques, which are often discussed while the camera is fixed on the rod or instructor, rather than capturing the intricacies of the water and the actual presentation. Unlike many UA-camrs who seem more interested in showcasing themselves, you and your wife have skillfully captured the true essence of the technique.
    I sincerely hope you continue producing such informative videos, with a keen emphasis on the finer details and close-ups of the water. Your approach is truly commendable and sets a new standard for instructional fly fishing content.

    This was a great video. The small tips which are extremely helpful for me as a new angler. The Mend tip with just using the rod tip was very helpful. Also the tip at the end of the video to twitch the fly to the side of the fish before drawing your line out for the next cast to avoid spooking the fish was great. One the best videos for beginners that I have watched, and I have been watching a lot of them. Keep them coming!

    I’m just getting back into the game after a prolonged absence and came upon your channel and I’m so impressed with your ability as a teacher. Not only that but as a dad as well and the way you impart your knowledge to your son. It showed when he commented on the netting attempt and you deftly deflected any blame.
    Just subscribed. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

    Do you fish dries even if there are no fish rising and no insect hatch?

    • @redsflyshop
      @redsflyshop  4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks and good question, I'll typically start with dries during the late spring - late summer even if there are no hatches actively present. Start with dries, check it out, then move underneath after a few holes.

    Hey Joe, what length of leader do you use when you drive fly fishing? I’ve been using a leader that is about 12ft on my 5wt/9ft rod; I build my own leaders based on a George Daniels formula

    • @redsflyshop
      @redsflyshop  7 місяців тому

      For most of our fisheries, we don't run much over 9' as we have fairly technical currents and accuracy is more important than stealth. 7.5' 4X would be pretty standard for me, I'll stretch that out to 9.5' or 10' with small flies and more selective trout in flat current.

    Man there's so much information, terminology, 'hidden' execution, etc.
    I can imagine anyone somewhere in the beginner to intermediate level getting really confused.
    Maybe we're trying to teach too much in a short time. What's wrong with a learning path of several years rather than becoming a 'master' in two weeks?...
